Mr Callahans's smirk faltered, just for a second.
Good.
I grabbed the rest of the money I had and shoved it back into my pocket. "You'll get the rest. But you'll get it the right way. And if I hear so much as a whisper about you delaying my brother's case because of this…" I leaned in, lowering my voice to a dangerous whisper. "I will ruin you."
And with that, I turned on my heel and stormed out of his office, slamming the door behind me.
My heart pounded as I stepped onto the street, my hands shaking with rage. I knew men like Mr. Callahans held power, but I wasn't going to let him use that power against me.
Noah deserved justice.
And I was going to make damn sure he got it, no matter what it took.
The night air hit me like a slap the moment I stepped out of Mr. Callahans's office. My skin burned with rage, my stomach twisted in disgust. One night with me, and your debt is cleared. His words echoed in my head like a damn curse.
