From the recording that Tristan she had shown of her, had known that when she finally saw Maya. The girl would be in a bad state. But that did absolutely nothing for the reality of it. Actually seeing it up close broke Ariel's heart.
Somebody had taking the time to really beat the living daylights out of Maya. But worse than that was the way that Maya moved, even with her obvious injuries, she was still trying to move like nothing was wrong. But doing that was proving hard for her.
There was a slight limp to her steps, and she was holding her side tight. Most likely, she had bruised ribs. The fact that she was clear to see, but her face was so carefully neutral. Her one visible eye, completely devoid of emotion. Signs of a person used to pain. As Maya finally sat down across from her. Ariel did her best to act shocked.
