Afterwards, Ryuji climbed out of the carriage window and onto the exterior. After a thorough check of the area to confirm it was safe, he gathered everyone into the less crowded last carriage.
The crisis averted, the train attendants began to calm the passengers and restore order.
Each person briefly described their experiences. After counting, they discovered a startling total of twenty-eight demons had attacked the train.
"So many demons attacking this train at once is extremely unusual!" Kenta Inoue remarked, pushing his glasses up his nose.
This was a point of considerable concern for everyone. Demons were not known for coordinated group actions; this large-scale attack was highly abnormal.
"Perhaps these demons were used to deplete our fighting strength," Ryuji suggested.
"Ryuji-san is correct. With this many demons, there must be someone orchestrating this; the real mastermind hasn't revealed themselves yet!" Kyōjurō Rengoku added, building on Ryuji's statement.
"Is it a member of the Twelve Kizuki?" Seiichiro Sakata asked, his interest piqued. He hadn't encountered any of the Twelve Kizuki during the Natagumo Mountain arc, and he was eager to face one.
Kyōjurō Rengoku nodded, reminding everyone, "Therefore, we cannot afford to relax our vigilance!"
"Bring it on! All of you! You'll all die by my blade!" Inosuke declared, his fighting spirit undimmed.
Tanjiro's expression grew serious upon hearing that a member of the Twelve Kizuki might still be present. He had personal experience with the strength of Lower Rank Five and was well aware of the Twelve Kizuki's power.
Zenitsu, hearing that more demons might appear, felt a surge of apprehension.
"Senpai Ryuji, Rengoku-sama, should we continue guarding one carriage each?" Shinichi Murata asked the team's two leaders.
Kyōjurō Rengoku didn't answer, instead looking at Ryuji. Since Ryuji was currently in command, the decision rested with him.
"Not for now. If a member of the Twelve Kizuki is still out there, being spread out is incredibly dangerous. It's best for everyone to stay together," Ryuji responded.
Zenitsu's spirits lifted. "Excellent! That means Senpai Ryuji can protect me at all times!"
Just then, a train attendant entered their carriage.
"Fellow passengers, we encountered a slight disturbance earlier, causing some panic. However, please do not fear, the situation has been resolved. Please feel free to continue your journey," the attendant announced to the passengers.
The attendant then continued, "Now, if you would please cooperate by allowing me to check your tickets. Thank you."
The attendant began checking everyone's tickets.
After a short while, the attendant arrived at Ryuji's group with a smile. "Gentlemen, and to the lovely lady, please present your tickets."
