"Good morning!" Ryuji greeted Kanao.
"Good morning!" Kanao showed no unusual reaction to Ryuji's presence; it seemed perfectly normal to her.
However, her nonchalant demeanor made it impossible for Ryuji to tell if she genuinely hadn't noticed anything between him and Shinobu, or if she was simply pretending. He wouldn't risk mentioning it; if Kanao truly didn't know, bringing it up might make her suspicious.
Kanao continued, "Sister Shinobu, I went to your room, but you weren't there. I figured you were thinking about Sister Kanae, so I came to her room to find you! Breakfast is ready!"
"I know," Shinobu said. "Kanao, Ryuji will be staying in Sister Kanae's room from now on, so be sure to get along with him."
Kanao simply nodded, showing complete indifference to Ryuji's arrival.
The following days were uneventful. Ryuji, besides occasionally treating Tanjiro, Zenitsu, and Inosuke with his Breath of the Forest, was tasked by Kagaya Ubuyashiki to train the Spider Mountain survivors, becoming their special training officer.
This excluded injured members like Tanjiro, Zenitsu, and Inosuke, focusing instead on those whose injuries didn't hinder training.
Those who survived the Natagumo Mountain raid with minor injuries were naturally stronger than those who perished; luck is a part of strength. Shinichi and Jiro Murata were among Ryuji's trainees.
The Natagumo Mountain mission had made Kagaya Ubuyashiki realize the Corps' weakness. After the Hashira meeting, most Hashira felt expanding the Corps wouldn't be effective. Kagaya decided to train the Spider Mountain survivors with minor injuries to create an independent unit separate from the Hashira and regular members.
Thus, few Spider Mountain survivors escaped unscathed. Including Ryuji, Shinichi, and Jiro, there were twelve.
Ryuji was appointed as their training officer and captain. Kagaya had no doubt about Ryuji's abilities; he was already at the Hashira level. However, Giyu Tomioka was already the Water Hashira, so replacing him wasn't an option. Kagaya believed creating an independent unit under Ryuji's command would be a better choice.
In the training grounds Kagaya prepared, Ryuji stood before his trainees, his gaze cold and assessing as he looked at the young trainees, roughly his age.
"First, let me introduce myself. My name is Ryuji. I am your training officer and the captain of your 'Twelve Slaying Moon' Unit."
