Ryuji stepped aside. Kagaya Ubuyashiki's words and attitude shocked Sanemi Shinazugawa and surprised Shinobu and the other Hashira. Kagaya was surprisingly lenient towards Ryuji.
"Damn it!" Sanemi gritted his teeth, unable to accept Ryuji's defiance.
Shinobu stared at Ryuji. Seeing his white hair, a dramatic thought occurred to her.
Could Ryuji be Kagaya Ubuyashiki's illegitimate son? After all, he had the same white hair as Kagaya's daughters.
She thought only that could explain Kagaya's leniency.
Sanemi addressed Kagaya. "Master, before the Hashira meeting, you need to explain Giyu Tomioka, Ryuji, and Tanjiro Kamado's violation of the rules. Protecting a demon is a serious offense. They should be executed! Otherwise, anyone can break the rules!"
Kagaya apologized. "I've given this serious consideration. I've accepted Ryuji, Tanjiro, and Nezuko. I hope you'll accept them as well."
Himejima Gyomei was the first to object. "Even if you say so, Master, I can't accept it."
Uzui Tengen followed. "I also object. I will not accept a Demon Slayer who carries a demon!"
Mitsuri Kanroji took the opposite stance. "I'll follow the Master's orders."
Tokito Muichiro was indifferent. "I don't care. I'll forget about it soon."
Shinobu remained silent, as did Giyu Tomioka, who'd already made his decision two years prior.
After a few seconds of silence, Iguro Obanai shook his head. "Unbelievable, but I hate demons!"
He could tolerate Ryuji, Tanjiro, and Giyu, but not Nezuko.
Rengoku Kyojuro stated his position. "Master, I deeply respect you, but I can't understand this decision. I strongly object!"
Sanemi Shinazugawa emphasized his point. "The Demon Slayer Corps' duty is to kill demons. Please order the execution of Giyu Tomioka, Ryuji, and Tanjiro Kamado!"
Kagaya remained calm, unmoved, and spoke to his daughter. "Bring out the letter."
His twin daughter responded, "Yes!" She took a letter from her bosom, opened the envelope, and read it.
"This is a letter from the former Water Hashira, Urokodaki Sakonji! I'll read it loud."
