A man emerged from the house. He had shoulder-length, center-parted hair, and the most striking feature was the scar that covered half his face.
The scars didn't look like injuries; they seemed to be caused by some kind of disease.
Because of these scars, he had no eyebrows.
Honestly, his appearance could easily be mistaken for a monster, and he might be scorned. But he didn't seem to care about his appearance. He wore no mask and had a faint smile.
Ryuji recognized him as the Demon Slayer Corps' Master—Kagaya Ubuyashiki, his future father-in-law.
"Thank you all for coming, my dear children," Kagaya Ubuyashiki said politely to everyone in the courtyard, his voice soft and gentle, soothing and calming.
Amane and her twin sister approached Kagaya, taking his hands and leading him to the viewing platform.
The three arrived at the platform, sunlight illuminating Kagaya.
"Good morning, everyone. The weather is lovely today. Is the sky blue?" Kagaya formally greeted the assembled group.
No one answered.
Ryuji looked at the sky. "It's quite blue!"
Kagaya turned to Ryuji, looked at him, and replied, "Is that so?"
He then turned to the others. "It's time for the biannual Hashira meeting. It's good to see the familiar faces."
While Ryuji was looking at the sky, Sanemi Shinazugawa, whose neck had been held by Ryuji's blade, had escaped.
When Ryuji looked down, Sanemi was gone.
Turning around, he saw everyone kneeling before Kagaya Ubuyashiki.
Even the irritable Sanemi Shinazugawa was kneeling obediently, along with the two {Hidden} members. Tanjiro was kneeling on one knee beside Giyu Tomioka.
Giyu was holding Tanjiro's neck, forcing him to bow.
Shinobu kept looking at Ryuji, urging him with her eyes to bow to Kagaya.
Ryuji understood but had no intention of doing so.
Sanemi Shinazugawa shouted, "Brat! What are you doing standing there? Bow to the Master!"
Ryuji turned to Kagaya. "Master, I don't think that's necessary."
Sanemi was furious and almost attacked Ryuji.
Just as Sanemi was about to reprimand Ryuji, Kagaya smiled faintly at Ryuji. "Very well, step aside for now."
