"Adam." Claire held her son's hand, bent down, and kissed his forehead. Then she took a red envelope from her bag and handed it to him.
She didn't have much, just one hundred thousand dollars. It was everything she owned. The Zanna Perfume Shop had only just begun to stabilize, the company still in its early growth phase. Even though last month's sales had been promising, most of the income was tied up in operations, leaving her with little spare cash.
"Mommy, I don't want it. This is all for you." Instead of taking the red envelope, Adam clutched his small bag tightly and shoved all the red envelopes, cash, and even the property deed into Claire's hands. "You're not allowed to refuse."
His last words were firm and commanding, "You've worked so hard for us. Today, I'm in charge. All of this is yours. When I grow up and earn money, it'll all be for you too. I'll take care of you forever, build you a palace, and make you a queen."
