"Daddy, dinner's ready! Mommy's boyfriend is here too." Adam and Dean had just climbed onto their chairs in the dining room when they saw Gilbert approaching. Adam grinned and spoke up cheerfully.
"Your mommy's boyfriend?" Gilbert narrowed his eyes, glancing at the couple seated on the sofa. When he had walked in earlier, they hadn't even lifted their heads, let alone acknowledged him inside his own home. The blatant disregard sent fury surging through his chest.
"Yes, Mommy finally has a boyfriend chasing after her." Adam looked utterly smug, his chubby face blooming into a grin as if he were deliberately provoking him.
"Wow, Mommy's boyfriend is so handsome. I really like him." Dean rested his chin on his hands, staring at his mother and Addison Powell in the living room, his cool little face lighting up with admiration.
Gilbert's anger burned even hotter.
"You like your stepdad that much? Do you think he'll treat you as well as I do?" he asked bitterly.
