Chapter 95 - Cursed Child

"Woah, I'm not in the top ten?" asked Haruki.

Tensei stood with his back turned against Haruki as he wiped sweat off his forehead and turned back into a normal hybrid from his One-Horned Transformation.

"It seems like it," said Tensei.

Tensei did not want Haruki to get anywhere near the Top 10 mainly because more players would target Haruki then to try and get his souls. Being in the top ten might look cool but it does more harm than good as it places your name and colony straight to your opponents meaning that everyone will be trying to hunt them.

"Count Lestat huh? He sounds like a vampire," said Haruki.

"He has 25 souls and he is in our colony as well. We must be careful," said Tensei.

As Tensei completed his sentence a sudden attack came from behind them a flying slash rained down from an apartment's terrace.

"Shadow Companion Sorcery:- Lightning Bird," said Haruki.

The shadow covered static bird flew like a jet in the air cutting the sky with its magnificent wings with stripes of light blue. As it found the target it quickly summoned a lightning bolt onto the attacker and as it was about to land,

"Shadow Companion Sorcery:- Switch," said Haruki.

Haruki switched places with the Lightning Bird as he sighed as he saw the attacker. He could feel due to its low soul energy that it was nothing more than a Xeno avatar.

"Agh lame," said Haruki as he charged up an attack and struck the avatar.

Tensei quickly changed form into Half-Horned Transformation and jumped up the building with relative ease and found Haruki at the top dusting his hands.

A hologram appeared and it said '⅕ soul acquired!'. Haruki's current soul count was now 13 and ⅘.

"Haruki, you have to be more careful," said Tensei scolding him for running off into battle.

"The only way I'll grow is if I fight," said Haruki.

"That's not true, practice makes perfect," replied Tensei.

"Exactly, no matter how much you might fight against a dummy bag it would never match up to a fight with an actual person," fought back Haruki.

"You're 14 don't run off anywhere without telling me," said Tensei.

"If I am that much of a burden to you, then you are more than free to leave me," replied Haruki looking up at Tensei.

"Kid, what did you say?" said Tensei walking closer to Haruki.

"I mean it, I might be 14 but in this 'game' age does not matter. It's an individual game, a single player game, where the amount of souls matter," explained Haruki.

"What are you trying to get at? You want me to ditch you here?" replied Tensei.

"I am saying you are free to leave but if we are going to continue to tag together you have to look at me as an equal," replied Haruki.

Tensei scoffed and growled before calming down. Then he sighed as he realised it was just Haruki he was talking to. The kid was growing up.

"Fine, let's not stay here for too long, let's move," suggested Tensei.

"All right, let's head on," said Haruki.

In the past,

"Regis, I have something to tell you," said a woman.

"What is it, Averi?" asked Regis.

Regis and Averi were walking side by side on a pathway and to the right of them there were multiple colorful shops while to the left of them cars, bikes, and trucks breezed by as the road was a streak of red, orange, and green paint.

"I love you, I want to be by your side forever," said Averi suddenly.

This sentence caused Regis to stop walking and look behind him to look at Averi. She was short, had shoulder length black hair, a mole on her right cheek, and a bright smile with her at all times but that was replaced at the moment with an anxious expression. Regis could feel her heart pounding inside her chest as he smiled softly.

He walked closer and put his hand on her cheek and kissed her on her mole.

"I love you too, I'll be there with you as well," said Regis.

Averi jumped in joy ecstatically as Regis patted her on her head and told her to calm down. Then they continued to walk to their separate destinations but this time holding hands and walking forwards together.

A few years later,

"Ah yes, I am aware," said Regis on a phone call.

"Regis? What is this?" asked Averi as she held a few piles of papers.

"Yeah…I left the Akira Clan," replied Regis.

"Oh, it's fine you don't need those people who rejected you for you being who you are, we all love you for who you are," replied Averi.

She pulled their small kid who was playing with a toy truck towards Regis and they both embraced Regis as he started to cry.

The failure of the Akira Clan, born with no soul energy, born with the Death Mark of the Sword God, the Son of Mazamo Akira, had finally felt at home, accepted, and safe for the first time in his life. Averi slowly patted his head as their child looked at Regis.

"Dadda, don't cry," said the child.

"I won't, I'm sorry," said Regis after wiping his tears.

"So what is our last name now?" asked Averi.

"My mother's last name 'Regis Zyke' now," replied Regis.

"Averi Zyke, hmmm I like it!" said Averi.

A few weeks later,

"You really thought you could actually find peace in this world?" asked Mazamo.

Regis held the bodies of Averi, her skin pale, her hair stained with blood, and her hands cold, and his child who was just three years old, blood spilling onto the hard wooden floor of their house.

"..."

There were no words that could relatively express Regis's emotion at that moment. Harsh reality be told, he has no soul energy, no worth among the samurai.

For who loved, feels no emotion, for who cried, has no tears left, for who felt pain, feels nothing more than the open void left in his body, as for one that has been too strong for too long has felt too much to the point where he has become not human yet a machine.

Regis Zyke's biggest strength was that he had no soul energy. This meant his attacks and movements were not able to be tracked by anyone as he is like a dark spot in the mind of a sorcerer. With his birth he changed the fate of the world as innately he forged a God Pact that removed his soul energy for pure physical enhancement, a cursed child.

He stood up as he started to flex his body as his extremely tall and muscular figure started to bulge out of his body. His speeds reach mach-three, he can easily lift a truck and in swordsmanship with pure grit and dedication he mastered all the katanas in the Akira Locker.

Heads rolled as he ran past all the different Akira members that stood in his way. They all bled out and died by Regis cutting the vessel that inflicted the most pain to the victim. They slowly and painfully passed away. His father was in shock as he pulled out his blade.

Regis, mercilessly, chopped the hand that Mazamo was using to wield his sword and without any break kicked his left and right knee simultaneously slamming him down to the ground crashing the floor and leaving a crater.

"Look, look," said Mazamo panting.

Regis slammed him again onto the ground as more blood started to spill out from Mazamo's mouth and his head was starting to crack.

"I am your father Regi, let me go please I won't mess with you again, let me go please," said Mazamo pleading and wailing.

No words came from Regis's mouth. And he slammed Mazamo down hard to the ground this time his entire head exploding as the remains spilled all across the room.

As Regis cleaned up after his violence, he took in a breath of pure rage and violence as he exhaled he felt a new sense of freedom as he looked around the cleaned up room.

He picked up his wife and kid and gave them a proper burial and prayed for their happiness wherever they were now.

He felt nothing after this moment and then suddenly a man wearing a diamond ring rang his doorbell.

"Do you want a chance to get true revenge?" asked Xeno, wearing a white hat and suit and holding a white letter.
