The small glass vial of blood inside the stone chest rested on a piece of black cloth.
The old label had almost completely faded, but enough of the writing remained to read the name on it.

Selera didn't even blink for several seconds. Her gaze remained fixed on the dried blood, and for the first time, clear confusion appeared on her usually controlled face.
She had spent years investigating her mother's death, the servants, the healers, the sealed case file, and the order to burn the body.

"Why would your mother examine Lioran's blood?" Andreas asked with a deep frown.
Selera slowly shook her head.
"I don't know. I never heard her mention Lioran even once." Selera didn't take her eyes off the vial.
Valdran stood beside the chest, still maintaining the same carefully controlled calm as before.
