Avina hugged him so tightly that it seemed if she let go, he would disappear again.
"Did you miss me?" Daniel asked in a quieter voice.
"Of course." Avina answered immediately. She pulled her head back and looked at him with a childish pout.
"Do you know I waited every day for you to come back? Every time a ship or a new group arrived, I thought maybe you'd be with them." She frowned slightly.
"I was starting to think you'd forgotten me."
Daniel placed his hand on her head and gently stroked her pink hair.
"Of course not."
Avina looked at his face carefully for a few moments, as if wanting to make sure he wasn't just saying that to calm her down.
Then she smiled.
"Then why did it take so long?"
"I had things to do."
"Everyone always says that."
"But I really did have things to do." Daniel kept his smile.
Avina nodded, seemingly dissatisfied, but her joy was so great that she couldn't even frown for a few seconds.
"When did you arrive?"
"Just now."
