"Samui, don't use the Fourth Raikage to pressure us.
These refugees are all people you took in. If you hadn't insisted they had potential to become strong shinobi, the elders wouldn't have turned a blind eye," Kinkaku, his temper flaring, roared.
"Now, you have two choices: Get out of our way and let us kill these brats and that big brute, or we kill you along with them."
His words hung heavy in the air like thunder. Samui's face paled. She knew this group's influence in Kumogakure.
Without the Raikage to suppress them, a fight could throw the entire village into chaos, making her the scapegoat.
Yet, as Kinkaku said, these children were refugees she'd rescued from the battlefield, many showing surprising talent after training.
Whether out of compassion or a genuine desire to cultivate future Kumogakure strength, she couldn't abandon them.
"Ahem, I think she's unlikely to hand them over. How about a trade? You can try venting your anger on me," Kai said with a warm smile, stepping forward.
Kinkaku was stunned, never expecting Kai to intervene. Remembering the scene in the refugee camp, a cruel smile spread across his face.
"Good!"
The single word echoed like thunder, and the Kumogakure ninjas' spirits rose. They knew their clan's physical prowess gave them a significant advantage in a one-on-one fight.
However, that confidence shattered the moment a blinding flash of lightning appeared, materializing a near-identical Kai beside Samui.
The first was an afterimage; the second, the real Uchiha Kai. Without any wasted movements, his lightning-charged right fist slammed into Kinkaku as he spoke.
"Sorry, I've been looking for an excuse to beat you up!"
Boom!
The punch was like a dragon rising from the depths, a wave of pure lightning force. Kinkaku was sent flying like a cannonball, crashing into a rocky mountain dozens of meters away.
Bang!
The impact shattered the mountain, cracks spreading outwards from Kinkaku's body. With another deafening roar, a ten-meter section of the mountain collapsed.
The dust cloud and the sheer force left the Kumogakure ninjas speechless, their faces a mixture of disbelief and terror.
"A little too hard, perhaps. But he asked for it," Kai said, dusting himself off, and smiling at Ginkaku. "I've never met anyone who enjoys being beaten so much. What a peculiar hobby!"
The stunned ninjas recovered, their faces flushed with anger, but Ginkaku stopped them.
"Excellent, Samui. The Fourth Raikage is gone, and you've found yourself a powerful protector. It seems you, like us, have been harboring ambitions," Ginkaku said, a smirk playing on his lips.
Samui's face turned pale. "Ginkaku, don't compare me to your clan. I'm simply working for Kumogakure's strength."
"Simply?" Ginkaku laughed. "If your motives were pure, you wouldn't have gathered so many rogue ninjas. Now you're colluding with outsiders to attack your own people. I'll report you to the elders. Let's see how you explain this."
"Yes, we're witnesses. Let's see how you'll fight us alone," the surrounding Kumogakure ninjas echoed, showing some fear of Kai but no hesitation in confronting Samui.
Samui was speechless, facing overwhelming odds. A wave of resentment washed over her, her eyes welling up.
She knew that every village was deeply xenophobic, especially to which Kinkaku and Ginkaku belonged.
Samui's actions stemmed from her own experience as a refugee rescued by the previous Two-Tails jinchuriki. She'd faced considerable criticism but persevered.
However, several years ago, the jinchuriki had died due to the tailed beast's backlash. The Third Raikage had sealed the Two-Tails, but Samui lost her protector.
Her status as an outsider and her actions in rescuing refugees had drawn the ire of the hawks within the village, particularly the Yotsuki clan. Only the Fourth Raikage's intervention had saved her refugee camp.
"Oh, you're the descendants of those traitors?" Kai suddenly exclaimed. "Let me see... weren't they called Kinkaku and Ginkaku?"
"During the First Great Ninja War, at the Five Kage Summit, they ambushed the Raikage and attacked Tobirama Senju.
Now, during another summit, you're causing trouble. Are you planning a rebellion, like your ancestors? Or do you also have a strange fondness for being beaten?"
His words echoed through the ruins. Samui's face turned ashen, her gaze fixed on Ginkaku and the others. She knew this clan was as savage as the Yotsuki. Kai's words were like poking a sleeping tiger.
However, as time passed, the clan members remained motionless, their eyes fixed on Ginkaku, their expressions grim.
