The next day, as the afternoon sun filtered through the stained glass of Solara's throne room, I stood before Reinhart and Darius, both awaiting instruction. A quiet tension lingered in the air as I prepared to leave.
"I'll be heading out for some urgent matters," I said simply, adjusting my mantle.
Reinhart, ever earnest, immediately stepped forward. "Is it something dangerous, my lord?"
I gave him a small, confident grin. "Nah, nothing I can't handle."
Behind them, I sensed another presence. Ramiris had entered the throne room—not in her usual floating miniature form, but full human-sized, her wings shimmering faintly behind her. She must've overheard.
"You're leaving?" she asked with a pout forming on her lips. "Where to, huh? And without telling me?"
I raised an eyebrow, amused. "Didn't think you'd want to tag along for a mysterious summons."
"Hmph! I do, actually!" she crossed her arms with a huff, looking away. "You're always doing all the exciting things without me…"
I chuckled. "Alright then, come with me. I know you can more than handle yourself."
Her expression shifted instantly from mock indignation to a proud smirk. "Of course I can. I'm the Queen of Spirits, remember?"
Darius, always the calm in the storm, stepped forward and bowed. "We shall manage the kingdom in your absence, Lord Velsun. Take your time."
Reinhart gave me a nod, still unsure but trusting. "Stay safe, my lord."
I offered them both a reassuring look, then turned toward the doors with Ramiris floating at my side, already trying to guess where we were going. Her energy was boundless as ever.
I had a meeting with Veldanava himself, and Ramiris tagging along could prove... interesting. Either way, it was time to see just what my elder brother wanted.
"And don't worry, you two," I added with a confident smile, glancing back at Reinhart and Darius. "I've left Zalario and Karlos here in Solara. If any threat dares show up, those two can crush it without even breaking a sweat."
Reinhart looked slightly more at ease, nodding slowly. "Then I shall focus on my training in the meantime."
Darius gave a low chuckle, "With those two guarding Solara, even the gods might think twice."
Ramiris, floating beside me with a smug look, added, "Hmph, you're not wrong. Karlos is terrifying in a fight, and Zalario? Well, he's Zalario."
I just grinned and turned toward the open gates of the throne room. "Then I leave Solara in your capable hands. We'll be back soon."
And with that, I stepped forward, with Ramiris at my side, ready to meet Veldanava.
Once we stepped out of Solara's gates, I exhaled and let the transformation take over. My body expanded, scales of golden light shimmered under the sun, wings unfurled with a divine brilliance, and in moments, I was in my true dragon form—resplendent, massive, and radiant like the very sun itself.
Ramiris floated up, her expression somewhere between awe and suspicion. "Huh? We're not going to use teleportation magic?" she asked, tilting her head with a confused pout.
I let out a low, amused rumble from my throat. "Nah. Where's the fun in that? If we teleport, I miss all the time I'd get flying there. The skies are peaceful, and I haven't stretched my wings like this in a while." I lowered my head, eyes gleaming. "Come on, get on top of me."
She crossed her arms, fluttering in place. "Hmph. Fine. But if you drop me, I'm wrecking your throne room." Still, she landed gracefully between my shoulders, perching like a queen on her seat.
With one mighty beat of my wings, we soared into the skies, the wind rushing past, clouds parting before us. It wasn't just flight—it was freedom. And for now, the sun dragon and the fairy queen raced the winds toward their divine destination.
We soared through the sky, high above the cardinal world. From this height, the lands stretched endlessly—rolling hills, sparkling rivers, cities no bigger than pebbles, and forests like patches of moss. It was a view few ever witnessed, and I—no, we—were sailing right across it.
Ramiris sat behind my neck, arms crossed, hair fluttering in the wind. She was trying very hard not to look impressed… but I could sense her wonder.
Just for fun, I smirked internally—and with a single surge of will, I increased my speed to maximum.
The clouds split apart like waves around me. A sonic boom echoed through the skies. Mountains became blurs, and the landscape became streaks of color below us. The sheer force made Ramiris cling to one of my horns, shouting against the wind.
"V-VELSUN!!! ARE YOU CRAZY?!!"Her voice barely reached me over the rushing air.
"Don't worry, I'm the sun! I don't crash!" I replied telepathically with a cheeky tone.
"HMPH! IF I DIE I'M TAKING YOU WITH ME!" she yelled again, but she didn't sound too mad. More… exhilarated.
And just like that, we tore through the skies, a divine comet racing across the heavens—Velsun, the True Dragon of the Sun, and Ramiris, the Spirit Queen—blazing a trail that would be spoken of by every bird, cloud, and sky-watching mortal below.
After about 30 minutes of soaring through the skies at breakneck speed, the shimmering golden spires of Veldanava's Palace finally came into view. It sat atop a floating continent suspended high above the cardinal world—wrapped in eternal daylight, surrounded by a halo of radiant clouds. The very air buzzed with ancient divine energy, and the sky itself shimmered with hues no mortal painter could ever hope to recreate.
I began to descend, gradually reducing my speed until we gently glided toward the main courtyard.
Ramiris, still sitting on my back, looked a little windblown—her hair tousled, cheeks flushed, and wings twitching in agitation."Hmph! That was not how I imagined arriving at the most divine palace in existence!" she pouted, hopping off once I touched the ground. "You nearly shook my wings off!"
I chuckled in my mind as I transformed back into my humanoid form. "Oh come on, admit it. You enjoyed the ride."
Ramiris crossed her arms and turned away with a huff. "I'll admit nothing. Nothing!"
The palace gates, forged from divine mythril and adorned with ancient runes older than time itself, slowly opened on their own. Two angelic guardians—their wings radiant with pure law energy—bowed low as we approached.
"Lord Velsun. Lady Ramiris. Lord Veldanava is expecting you."
The moment felt heavy. Even for someone like me—who bore the title of the True Dragon of the Sun—this was no ordinary visit. It had been a long time since I stood before him. My elder brother. The Creator.
I took a deep breath and stepped forward."Alright. Let's see what the Supreme God wants with his little brother today."
As we kept walking through the radiant halls of Veldanava's palace, each step echoing off the marble floor imbued with divine patterns, I glanced toward the two angelic guardians who had bowed to us—Dino and Cornu, two of the oldest and most well-known angelic servants under Veldanava.
With a casual smirk, I asked, "So, Dino, Cornu… how's it going?"
Dino, the laziest fallen angel in existence and somehow still managing to look drowsy even in the presence of his god, let out a long sigh and scratched the back of his head.
"Ehh… you know, same old. Pretending to work, actually napping. Veldanava doesn't seem to mind so far." He gave me a lazy grin. "Though I gotta say, it's weird seeing you back in the palace. Been what—how many millennia?"
Cornu, always the more serious one with his spotless armor and pristine wings, gave Dino a sharp glance before nodding respectfully to me."It is an honor to see you again, Lord Velsun. Things have been peaceful… though your arrival has stirred a great deal of attention."
Ramiris, walking beside me with her arms folded and trying to look unfazed, muttered, "Some people never change…" while shooting Dino a deadpan look.
He yawned. "You say that like it's a bad thing."
I chuckled, feeling oddly nostalgic. "Well, it's good to see that even in a divine palace, some things remain the same."
Cornu turned, leading us through the last corridor. "Lord Veldanava awaits in the Grand Celestial Chamber. Please proceed."
The massive doors ahead glowed with divine energy, slowly parting open—not just with physical force, but with will. Beyond them… was the presence of the one being who once shaped all of existence.
My footsteps slowed slightly.
"…Here we go."
