As Veldanava finished naming the three new giantsāDraguel, Glassord, and Fennāhis divine presence began to fade, his golden aura dissipating into the sky like stardust. One by one, the remaining primordial angels followed their creator, each giving me a respectful nod or glance before vanishing in bursts of radiant light, returning to their realms.
Only Zalario remained, his silver wings folded behind him, standing quietly at my side.
I stood there in silence, overlooking the battlefieldāif it could even be called that anymore.
The once-mighty plains were now unrecognizable. Craters the size of cities, mountains sliced in half, blackened skies from the remains of scorched clouds, and rivers diverted by the sheer force of the attacks exchanged. Smoldering embers floated in the air like dying fireflies. The earth was scarred, not just broken. And I had done that.
My arms were crossed over my chest, my expression solemn. No smirk. No pride. Just⦠reflection.
"...So this is what my power truly looks like," I muttered under my breath.
Zalario glanced sideways at me but said nothing.
The silence stretched for a moment longer until I finally exhaled.
"I brought down a god-like being, split him into three, and burned away tens of thousands of giants⦠and yet, I can't help but feel this weight."
Zalario stepped forward slightly, looking out across the destruction with me. "You fought to protect the balance. This wasn't recklessness. It was necessity."
I shook my head faintly. "Maybe. But that doesn't mean I can ignore the destruction I caused. If I hadn't stepped in, maybe none of us would be standing here. Still, what I unleashed today... was far beyond restraint."
Zalario placed a hand on my shoulder. "And yet, you stood tall. You didn't lose yourself. You made choices. Hard ones. That's what makes you more than just a dragon, Velsun. That's what makes you a leader."
I let his words settle into me.
"ā¦Thanks, my friend," I said, finally offering a small smile.
Then, the wind blew across the broken fieldāsoft, cool, carrying with it the distant echoes of the battle. It was quiet now. Peaceful, even if temporary.
"We'll need to rebuild," I said, turning my gaze northward. "And prepare. Because if Fenn ever embraces the darkness lingering inside himā¦"
Zalario finished the thought for me. "We'll be ready. Together."
I gave a single nod.
Just as me and Zalario were about to leave, our feet brushing over scorched earth and cracked stone, a soft sound pierced the silence.
Crying.
Faint, heart-wrenching sobs echoed through the stillness of the battlefield.
We both paused.
Turning around slowly, I spotted themātwo giants, barely teenagers by their looks, kneeling in the rubble. One, a girl, wept uncontrollably over the small, limp body of a childāa baby giant. Her shoulders trembled with grief, her voice a raw cry that scratched at my very soul. The other, a boy, held the child in his arms, quiet and still.
My heart skipped a beat.
Zalario stepped slightly behind me, sensing the sudden shift in the air.
Then, the boy looked up.
His eyes met mine.
Empty.
No anger. No hatred. Just⦠nothing. Hollow and cold.
He rose slowly, still carrying the body. His footsteps were heavy, but steady. Each one seemed to echo louder than any explosion from the war.
He stopped a few feet in front of me. The girl's cries continued in the background.
"Heyā¦" he said, his voice flat. "Strong one."
I felt something cold grip my spine.
"You destroyed so much," he continued, his tone calm but too calmālike someone who had already lost everything. "You killed millions, turned mountains to dust⦠and you smile while doing it."
I didn't speak.
His arms shifted slightly to show the still, tiny body in his grasp. The child's face was peaceful. Innocent.
"Please," he said. "Use that power of yours. Bring him back. Just one life⦠is that so hard for someone like you?"
My breath caught.
"I stepped back, guilt twisting inside me. Could I really⦠bring him back?"
"I⦠I can'tā¦" I said the words, almost choking me.Ā
can I?
The boy's gaze didn't waver.
"So your strengthā¦" he whispered, "is worthless."
The words hit harder than any blow I'd ever taken in battle.
He turned back without another word and walked to the girl, who was still holding her baby brother's hand like he'd wake up if she did. The boy sat down beside her, silent and broken.
I stood there, frozen.
Just as I was about to take another step, I froze.
My hand slowly clenched into a fist.
A sudden wave of emotion surged through meāgrief, guilt, defiance.
"No," I whispered, then louder, "No!"
Zalario looked back at me with questioning eyes.
I turned, facing the two giants once moreāthe girl still weeping, the boy silent and cold. The lifeless child between them.
"I am the True Dragon of the Sun," I said, my voice echoing across the silent battlefield. "And the sun⦠does not discriminate. It gives light, warmth, and lifeāto all. Whether god or mortal, giant or man⦠it sees no difference. Everyone is its child."
I raised my hand to the sky, golden light already building in my palm like a second sun.
"And Iāam its vessel."
I called at Mimir, who had gone quiet during the encounter. "Mimir. Find the child's soul. I will resurrect him⦠no matter what."
There was a pause. Then Mimir's voice echoed gently into my mind.
"I've already found it. It's nearby⦠weak, but intact. He hasn't passed beyond yet."
I breathed a sigh of relief, eyes narrowing in focus.
"No consequences," I murmured. "Just purpose."
Golden light flooded the field. I walked toward the child and knelt, placing my hand gently on his small chest. I closed my eyes, channeling the purest energy of the sunālife energyāinto the child's body.
It was slow⦠delicate. I was careful. Too much, and he'd be vaporized. Too little, and he wouldn't wake.
Seconds passed. A minute.
Thenā
A tiny heartbeat.
The girl gasped. The boy's eyes widened, trembling. The child's fingers twitched, and with a soft breath, his chest rose and fell.
"ā¦Brother?" the girl whispered.
The boy dropped to his knees, tears silently spilling from his once-hollow eyes.
I stood slowly, the sunlight still wrapping my form like a divine mantle.
The boy looked at me, eyes wide with disbelief.
"Th-thank youā¦" he said, choking on the words. "Thank you, Sun Godā¦"
I placed a hand on his shoulder. "Take care of your brother. Let him grow up in peace⦠not in war."
He nodded furiously, the tears still streaming down.
Zalario, smiling faintly, stepped beside me.
a flicker of golden runes lit up in the corner of my visionāMimir's voice rang clear and commanding in my mind:
"Notification: Ultimate Skill ā Osiris, God of Rebirth ā Acquired."
I stopped.
The warmth from the earlier resurrection still lingered in my chest, but now it was something more. Deeper. Eternal.
Images, knowledge, essenceāit all flooded into me at once.
Osiris.
A god whose domain was death and rebirth. One who passed judgment, gave renewal, and stood as a bridge between life and the beyond.
I looked at my handsāglowing faintly now with golden threads of divine light. Not just the radiance of the sun⦠but the power to restore.
"So that's what this was aboutā¦" I murmured, realization dawning.
This act of pure, unconditional revivalāreturning life without bias or personal gaināhad awakened something divine.
Zalario looked over. "You okay?"
I nodded slowly. "Yeah⦠more than okay."
"Osiris, huh?" I muttered, a small grin forming. "Looks like I'm evolving again."
Mimir added with a satisfied hum, "You've walked the path not just of destruction and justice, but now of mercy. This skill⦠is yours by right."
"So⦠what does it do, Mimir? What are its abilities?"
Mimir's voice echoed clearly in my mind, calm and thorough as always.
"Ultimate Skill: Osiris, God of Rebirth ā functions unlocked."
Absolute Resurrection
You can bring back the dead without cost, including complete soul restorationāeven if the soul has been shattered or has passed into the afterlife.
No limit on time passed since death.
Works on all races, even spiritual beings like spirits, angels, or demons.
Soul Forging
Rebuild or enhance a damaged or incomplete soul.
Can create a stronger version of the original individual, free from curses, corruption, or spiritual decay.
Dominion Over the Afterlife
You gain passive authority over spirits and souls in your presence.
Dead spirits will naturally gravitate toward you instead of other realms (like Heaven or Hell), allowing you to guide or use them.
Judgment of Osiris
Upon contact, you can see a being's past life, karma, sins, and merits.
You may choose to redeem, erase, or resurrect based on their balance.
Divine Immunity
Ā Your soul becomes immune to soul curses, soul tracking, or being tampered with.
Cycle Anchor
Ā You now partially control the cycle of reincarnation for any race. You may bless or bind a soul, ensuring its path remains aligned with your will.
Mimir finished, and I stood in silence for a moment, soaking it all in.
"...Heh. That's... more than I expected."
I turned to the three giants now, still kneelingāconfused, exhausted, and overwhelmed by everything that had happened.
The boy's hollow eyes looked up at me again. The girl, still sniffling, had wrapped her arms around the newly revived childāhis eyes were slowly blinking open.
I took a breath and sighed deeply.
"I'm sorry for your loss⦠but what is done is done. The past can't be undone."
There was a stillness in the air.
Then I stepped forward and raised my hand, golden light gently swirling at my fingertips.
"But you three⦠your future is yours to forge. So let me give you a name to carry forward."
I pointed at the boyāthe one who had spoken first. "You will be known as Basara."
Then at the girl who had wept over her fallen kin. "And you⦠are Kisara."
And finally, my hand rested on the forehead of the small child whose soul I had just brought back. His eyes now sparkled with innocent light.
"And this one⦠his name shall be Kasara."
The moment the names left my lips, I felt the magicules surge through me instinctivelyāpouring out like warm sunlight, flowing into the three of them. I wasn't forcing power onto them. It was more like planting seeds of divinity.
Their auras expanded, stabilized, and then pulsed with new strengthāancestral strength.
"You three siblings are now the ancestor of giants from now on."
I gave them a small, soft smile.
"May your race flourish⦠and live freely."
I turned away slowly, feeling something shift in the world. A new beginning had just taken root.
