Chapter 7 - Half-Human

"ZAURANNN"

SRAKK!

With a swift movement, the knife pierced into Zauran's gut. He looked back with stunned, incredulous expression.

"You!?... How?!... didn't I already..."

Zauran fell silent for a moment.

Behind him stood Sayda, upright, untouched, no wounds or blood. As if everything that happened before had been nothing but an illusion. Blood gushed out his body and mouth, his eyes grew red as though he was filled with rage and with an expression one of irritation.

"I'll kill you!!"

Zauran let out an angry scream, he instantly swung his sword, aiming to strike Sayda. His steps were heavy, driven by rage, but Sayda moved like a wind, leaped aside and effortlessly evaded the strike.

Zagar stood speechless and frozen in disbelief, watched as the corpse came back to life.

"H...how?!"

Sayda stood firm, pointing a knife at them. On his right palm, the number eight was clearly displayed. Proof that he had truly died and come back to life.

"I told you earlier, you two are the ones who will die"

Sayda spoke in a pretentious tone.

Zauran's blood dripped onto the ground, with an enraged expression he turned towards Zagar.

"ZAAAGAARR!"

Zagar comprehended his intent and responded in a composed manner.

"You don't have to shout so loudly, Zauran. I know... let's give him so much agony that death becomes the only gift he craves."

Zauran grinned. Suddenly, he threw his sword away, just as Zagar did at the same time.

All of sudden, strange things happened. Their bodies begin to change, thick fur begins to spread throughout their bodies. Their fangs become longer, sharper and gleaming. The nails transformed into horrible claws. Muscles began to expand and their bodies grow. In an instant, they transformed into...

A tiger...

Sayda stood in silence, utterly stunned and completely astonished, as he observed a human transform into a beast.

"What the hell? How is that even possible?"

RAWRHHHHH!!!

Zauran and Zagar's howl resonated hauntingly, shaking the trees until their leaves fell to the ground. Their sharp, gleaming eyes locked onto Sayda. Their mouths hung slightly open, revealing rows of jagged fangs with saliva drool trailing down.

Sweat trickled down Sayda's face. His eyes grew wide, and his entire body stiffened in a shocked at the terrifying transformation unfolding before him.

"W...What is happening?"

"What kind of monster is this...? No one told me people could turned into beast int this world..."

The two tigers gazed at him intently, their eyes brimming with predatory desire. A slight quiver run through Sayda's fingers, his legs shuffled backward. Simultaneously, Zagar and Zauran lunged towards Sayda with alarming velocity!

The faster Zagar moved, quicker he leap at Sayda, claws ready to shred. But at the last moment, Sayda managed to jump aside, causing Zagar to fly past him. However, Zauran was already in front of him.

Before he could react, Zauran jumped and pounced on Sayda, sending them both tumbling to the ground. The knife slipped on Sayda's hand and fell to the ground.

Now Zauran's body was pressing against Sayda. The beast's hot breath was clearly felt, while viscous saliva streamed down to his face. Zauran's sharp teeth sparkled in the sunshine that shone through the leaves.

Zauran extended his lips wide, ready to devour Sayda, but unexpectedly, Sayda seized the tiger's fangs, thwarting it's jaws from mutilating his face.

"ARGHH!!"

Suddenly.

RAWRHHHHH!

Zagar roared violently, preparing to pounce on Sayda, who was already helpless. With a heavy, hopeless look, Sayda turned to the side, still preventing Zauran from tearing him apart. But now, Zagar was racing in, and it felt like death was the only thing left.

"Shit, not again... I'm gonna die!"

All of a sudden!

AUUUUUUUU !!!!

A long, sorrowful howl echoed from the forest edge.

Everyone froze.

Even Zagar stopped his running, Zauran who was still above Sayda, glanced towards the sound. Sayda didn't miss a chance!

With all his strength, he drove his elbow into Zauran's eye.

RAAGHHH!

Zauran howled in pain, Sayda then delivered a powerful kick to his abdomen, forcing the tiger to tumble off his body. Sayda waste no time, sprang up quickly and reached for his lying knife.

However, just as he about to move...

GRRRGHHH!

A growl from behind made Sayda freeze. Slowly he turned around.

In front of him, stood a wolf, his fur standing upright, his eyes full of rage, his breathing heavy, and his teeth flasing sharply in the sunlight.

Sayda swallowed.

"You've got to be kidding me... A wolf now...? How many more nightmares are hiding in this damn forest...?"

GRRRGHHH!

"Stay back..!"

As Sayda brandished a knife, he cautioned a wolf; nevertheless, it appeared to disregard him. The wolf retracted it's legs, perhaps preparing to leap and pounced on Sayda.

Suddenly, the wolf leapt.

"Shit.."

But something unexpected happened: the wolf leapt over Sayda, leaving him perplexed. Rather, the wolf run towards Zagar trying to attack him. Sayda's brow furrowed, and his eyes expanded in astonishment.

"What happened?"

The wolf nipped Zagar's neck, causing him to howl in pain. But Zagar reacted, making it a vicious struggle, scratch against scratch, kicks being matched with even more ferocious strike. The sound of smashing and roaring permeated the atmosphere.

However, Sayda swiftly recognised, while grasping his knife, considering the available opportunities, that this was no longer one-on-two confrontation but rather a two-on-two scenario; this is the moment.

Just as he was about to turn around...

DUUM!

Sayda was thrown far, his body slamming into the trunk of a tree with a heavy thump. The trunk shook from the impact, and leaves drifted slowly to the ground. His breath came in short gasps, his vision blurred as his head spun, and warm blood trickled from his nose.

"Ugh..hh.."

In front of him, Zauran stood in the form of a tiger, his eyes burning with a thirst to hunt. His jaws gaped wide, drool splattering onto the dirt and guttural, barbaric sound rumbled from his throat.

"You're mine"

Sayda bit his lip, attempting to suppress the pain while forcing his body to rise. He wiped the blood from his nose.

"Tch... Damnit"

Zauran grinned wickedly, his eyes glinting with wild madness.

"So you're from the wolf race, huh? That just give me more reason to kill you"

Zauran slowly licked his chapped lips.

"Devouring you will be a pleasure"

"Disgusting...and just who are you calling a wolf, huh?"

Zauran did not respond to the inquiry and continued to pounce with scary speed. But somehow, Sayda had already figured out Zauran's attack pattern. He swiftly jumped to the side, grabbed a clod of dirt, and flung it at the tiger, sending a cloud of dust flying and obscuring everything in front of him.

A knife emerged from the dust cloud, heading right for Zauran's eyes, but he quickly averted it, only to be met with a thrown knife. Zauran's eyes widened but in the blink of an eye it changed, he grinned.

"I can smell you... Dumbass."

Zauran snapped his head to the side, his fangs showing a growl rumbled from his throat, but...

"Too late, IDIOT!"

Sayda's foot was already in front of him, catching Zauran's gaze. The tiger let out a cry of anguish, and it didn't stop there. Sayda drove his foot into Zauran's stomach with all his strength, sending him crashing to the ground.

Sayda retrieved his knife. Zauran quickly got back on his feet, his face twisted with fury. For a moment, his gaze locked onto a sword lying beside him, the very weapon he had thrown away. Without hesitation, he dropped his head and bit the sword's hilt, grasping it with his muscular jaws.

"What's is he doing?"

Sayda's eyes widened.

"Did he just... bite the sword?"

His grip tightened around his own weapon, muscle tense, ready for whatever madness came next. Zauran was already charging toward him at incredible speed, the sword clenched his jaws glinting menacingly in the light. However, as he approached, an odd event occurred.

Suddenly, as though being drawn into his flesh, Zauran's thick fur shuddered. His jagged nails gradually grew smaller until they resembled human fingers again. His fierce teeth appeared to be sucked into his jaws and vanished in an instant. In a matter of seconds, his existence as a tiger faded away entirely.

Zauran now sprinted towards Sayda in human form, but his eyes were still filled with rage. Sayda, who was still taken aback by unusual development, could only stand motionless for a time. His brow furrowed, and his eyes widened at the sight of Zauran, who had fully turned into a human.

"What...the hell?"

Sayda didn't have much time to contemplate. The blade that was bitten into Zauran's jaw is now securely in his grasp. In an instant, he charged towards Sayda, striking his sword savagely. With one swing of his sword, he knocked the knife from Sayda's grasp as Sayda tried to parry the attack.

As Sayda knife flew through the air, Zauran suddenly swung from the side, a deadly strike that could split Sayda in a single blow. Sayda powerless to react, Zauran's speed and strength far surpassed his own. He knew this strike would kill him all over again.

"This is where you die!"

"Shit"

Suddenly...

DUMM!!

Zauran was flung to the side, hitting the ground with a resounding thud. Stunned. Sayda was taken aback by what transpired in front of his eyes. Zauran thrown aside like ragdoll, and as he turned to the side, his eyes widened as he saw a wolf figure standing in front of him.

The wolf's fur glistened under the light, its breath heavy and ragged. Sayda was stunned, where did this creature come from?

"Where… where's the other one?"

His heart pounded in his chest.

Slowly, he turned to his right, and what he saw froze him. A tiger lay on the ground, blood soaking the earth around it, and the metallic stench pierced the air. The tiger's breath was ragged, it's body trembling in pain. Sayda didn't move. His legs were trembling, not from pain but from disbelief.

Zagar… the monster… the man who nearly killed him, was now crawling, bleeding, dying.

In the distance, Zauran sat on the ground, his gaze riveted on the wolf who has just attacked him. His face contorted in anger. Sayda could only swallow hard. What is going on?

Zauran, his voice low and disbelieving, muttered.

"Why is he here…?"

Sayda's gaze never left the wolf's figure.

The air grew heavy with tension. Suddenly, Zauran's eyes darted wildly, past the wolf, to a body lying behind it: Zagar. The tiger no longer moved, except for the faint rise and fall of its chest. Blood continued to pour from its wounds, pooling into a dark crimson lake beneath it.

Zauran froze. His jaw clenched. His trembling fists curled into white-knuckled rage. The fury on his face melted into something far more dangerous, a storm of rage tainted by pain.

"Za...Zagar...ZAGAR!"

His scream broke the air. His gaze met the wolf's, burning with anger.
