Chapter 14 - Vision

Sam gave me a gauze roll bandage he surpisingly had after I washed my leg with water. We were sitting in a room seperate from the others where we could only hear their voices as murmurs. It was the first time we were alone since being at La Push. A couple of weeks had passed since then and now Sam looked tired. When he passed me the roll of bandage he kept his distance which was odd after he helped me walk all the way here. He was drinking a cold cup of water next to me that he got while I finished applying the bandage. I noticed him sweating profusely dispite the weather being windy and the house cool.

I looked at him for a couple of seconds in case of the situation worsening. Sam just stared off into the corner of the room. I'd say he were daydreaming if it weren't for his face twitching yet it seemed he didn't take note of it. "Hey man you good? Want me to get Leah?"

He turned to me, though he didn't give me eye contact, "why Leah? I would want Emily's help."

"You want Emily?"

He blinked, squeezing his eyes shut and opened them as if he got out of some daze, "No, Im fine I just-" He grabbed his cup and stared at his reflection in the water, "Lately I've been feeling a little sick. To be honest it's gotten worse after Talia arrived, I just haven't told Leah yet. She's been feeling pressured lately to get close to her and I don't want to burden her further." He said, then took a drink from his cup.

"Well at least tell your family or one of the boys, your sweating in this kind of weather. Could get way worse if you don't take medicine, you might be coming down with a fever."

"I already did the last couple of days. As for my family, my dad is keeping tabs on me, heck even the elders. Although they give me this look." He paused, giving thought on how to emphasize what he would say. "One of them, Jacbo's dad. He came to my house the other day and simply wheeled himself towards me and grabbed my hand. Call me if you need guidance he said. The way he gazed at me, I don't know man, like he wanted tell me more but all he could do was tell me those words."

"And Leah hasn't noticed anything? I mean shes your girlfriend-"

He shot up from his chair, with a rage I hadn't seen on anyone before, "The fuck does that mean!? I don't need her!"

Despite being my close friend I stood up quickly taking a fight or flight response. I raised my hands, signaling to calm down with my left hand began twitching as well, "Sam I didn't mean to insult you in anyway, I only-"

"Why don't you go back to that Cullen of yours huh!? Afterall your a part of them Peter, you and Bella. Two ungrateful little shits we opened our doors to, and now you reek of their smell!"

Sam began to let out a low growl. His chest began to rise and fall. I thought of beelining it for the exit but I knew Sam was faster then me with my wounded leg. This one particular time I trusted my twitching hand fully and understood that if a fight broke out Sam was not going to hold back.

"Sam Uley! What is wrong with you?" I gave a side glance to the door seeing Leah standing there with Emily.

"Emily?" spoke Sam in a voice of yearning staring at her as if she were the one who said those words. Without addressing his attitude nor even sparing me a look he stormed off.

"Sam! Wait. Sam look at me!" Yelled Leah chasing after him, leaving me alone with a surpised Emily. She blinked a couple times, registering what had just happened in her home, " I think, I think you should go Peter." She said in a quiet voice.

"I'm sorry, I didn't, I don't know what I did for this to occur. I'll get Bella and leave." And walked away leaving her behind.

Going down the hallway of her home I met the gazes of the Quileutes who were whispering to each after seeing Sam ran off. They stopped once they saw me but I didn't say anything until I saw Bella sitting at the table, "Bella let's go back." She nodded and got up albeit she was frighten by what see heard. Only Jacob tried to stop us, well her from leaving, "wait, we should talk this out first. I'm sure this is a misunderstanding."

Bella stopped to talk with him while I kept moving towards the truck outside, "I'll call you after, I promise." And followed me soon after.

We got in the truck and not having to argue who would drive Bella got in the passenger side. After five miniutes of driving I decided to speak first, "I think Sam was ready to kill me Bella." The words came out as a lie I invented but I meant it despite wanting to believe otherwise.

"Why? You two never fought, well, like this. We all heard Sam screaming at you and then he went off into the forest with Leah going after him. He didn't even acknowledge her pleas."

I analyzed our conversation but came up with nothing that truly made sense, "he looked sick, I asked him about. Then like a bomb went off in his head he got up from his chair with this anger in his eyes Bella, the kind you only see in a feral animal. If it weren't for Leah and Emily showing up I think we would have fought with my life on the line."

"Your life? Peter are you hearing yourself? A fight to the death with Sam Uley? Your childhood friend?"

"Listen! Why would I lie about that, even my hand was twitching in that moment. One moment he was giving me bandages and the next moment he screamed his heart out, he even growled at me."

She thought for a bit, thinking about a possible solution. "I'll call Jacob tomorrow after the storm has settled and ask him about Sam, tell him he's sick in the head, I mean ill. That it might have affected his actions today, that alright with you?"

Truthfully I wanted to keep my distance from Sam however I knew that I was still shaken up from what happen mere momments ago. Thinking about the long friendship with Sam I agreed, "Ya lets ask Jacob. Although I think we should keep our distance for a while, I haven't been getting along with the Quileutes lately now that I think about it."

We left it at that and kept to our own thoughts unitl we made it home. Arriving at our doorway I saw Charlie waiting for us on the porch with a beer in hand. We got out and walked to the house wondering if he knew already what happened.

He looked us up and down but focused more on me, "you two alright? Billy called, told me you got in a fight with Sam but not to worry about it."

"Billy? Why would he call you about it?"

"I asked first son, your limping Peter. Did Sam do that to you?"

"No Charlie. He got in a bike accident and scraped it." Said Bella.

"A bike, like a motorcycle Peter? I know I let you drive the truck but I thought you would be responsible about your actions." He said the last part in a serious tone so I would understand the double meaning of his words.

"Dad I didn't do anything wrong! It's not my fault they got pissed and tried to fucken kill me!"

"Watch your tone lad." Spoke Charlie in a rare quite voice he barley used off duty. I stared at the ground irritated that everyone close to me had questioned me and not Sam as if I were guilty while he, the victim. "Can I go now."

"Go to your room." He turned to Bella no doubt to question her side of the matter.

I went up to my room wanting to have nothing to do with an other living person for the day and lied down wanting to fall asleep. My pocket began to vibrate and I grabbed my phone hoping it would be one of the Quileutes wanting to apologize when I got the pleasent surpise of it being Alice.

The anger I had unkowingly gathered vanished as I answered her call, "Hey Peter, glad to see you again."

"See me? You hiding under my bed or something Alice?" I said with a boyish smile plastered on my face.

"Why would I be under you bed, what an odd kink rabbit."

I chuckled, "you know thats not what I meant, whats with the call? Need me for something?"

"Definitely need you next to me, but thats not why I called. I just wanted to check up on you, see if anything else has changed, would you kindly tell me if you did something of late?"

"Well," I sighed, "I went to the Quileutes, your fated enemies." I said with sarcasm. "I don't want to bore you with the details, let's just say it didn't turn out how I expected at all. Honestly I rather not talk about."

"Hmm... makes sense now." She said, though I believe she was talking to herself given her tone. "Alright good to know, wanna hear something we could do together?"
