Extra Chapter: On Every 50 powerstones

Midorima hadn't really wanted to come to Konoha.
Having just set a trap in the village, showing up now would be like stepping right into his own snare. But Orochimaru paid no heed to such concerns and simply dragged Midorima out of the lab.
Before leaving, Midorima grabbed a few scrolls, including some powerful jutsu—A-rank techniques like the Multiple Shadow Clone Technique and Earth Release: Swamp of the Underworld, among others.
Orochimaru was well aware of Midorima's actions, but considering that trips to Konoha rarely went smoothly, the stronger Midorima was, the higher the chances of success for this mission.
At the end of the day, the allure of the Sharingan was simply too great—even Orochimaru couldn't resist it.
When Midorima saw Yakushi Kabuto, he froze.
This was a man skilled in deception, a double-faced schemer who had maneuvered between multiple factions, securing his own survival.
Given Kabuto's past, his caution was understandable, but that didn't mean Midorima would let his guard down around him.
The fact that Kabuto and Orochimaru weren't particularly close at this point came as a surprise to Midorima.
But after roughly piecing together the timeline, Midorima understood why.
Kabuto had been on a mission for Iwagakure when he encountered Yakushi Nonō, plunging his life into darkness. It was then that Orochimaru appeared, taking him to his hideout. After a long heart-to-heart talk, the bond between Kabuto and Orochimaru gradually deepened.
At this stage, Kabuto was still unaware of Nonō's true fate, so he remained relatively… normal.
As a spy personally trained by Danzo, Kabuto's skills in disguise far surpassed those of an ordinary shinobi.
Upon learning that Orochimaru was taking Midorima to Konoha—and that a powerful enemy was hunting Midorima—Kabuto put his real skills to work. He applied various powders Midorima had never seen before, meticulously altering his appearance until he was nearly unrecognizable, though still a handsome shinobi.
If not for Midorima's vehement protests, Kabuto might have even dressed him in women's clothing.
"This skin… tsk tsk, this texture… tsk tsk, this face… what a waste if you don't cross-dress."
At that moment, Midorima clenched his fists, barely stopping himself from smashing Kabuto's glasses.
If you don't want to disguise me, then don't.
As for Orochimaru, he wore a carefully crafted human-face mask, posing as a shinobi from Kusagakure.
Looking at that face—which appeared even younger than his own—Midorima could only shake his head helplessly.
Women cared deeply about their looks and age. Even Snake Auntie was no exception.
After leaving Orochimaru's lab, the three of them set out for Konoha. Along the way, Orochimaru made sure to contact Sasori, explaining that he had some personal matters to attend to.
Since the Akatsuki hadn't assigned any missions yet, Sasori agreed to Orochimaru's request.
Everyone has personal business. A grown man like Sasori had no interest in sticking to Orochimaru like glue anyway.
After four days of travel, they finally arrived at the outskirts of Konoha. There, Kabuto entered the village first to report to Danzo, while Midorima and Orochimaru found a nearby cave to rest.
Though the Uchiha clan had rebellious intentions, Fugaku Uchiha was still the captain of the Konoha Military Police Force—a formidable opponent.
"You could just go in by yourself," Midorima said, staring at Orochimaru, who stood at the cave entrance.
"And give you a chance to escape, right?" Orochimaru sneered. "Don't make your thoughts so obvious."
"I really don't get what you gain from dragging me along," Midorima grumbled.
Setting aside the Cell Laboratory, he was just an ordinary medical ninja.
"You should focus on studying your jutsu," Orochimaru replied coldly.
"..."
With a sigh, Midorima took Orochimaru's advice and pulled out the jutsu scrolls.
This trip to Konoha was bound to be turbulent, but the village did have plenty of valuable things.
He had no intention of going after the Nine-Tails—it was sealed inside Naruto. Extracting it would mean killing the boy, and even if he succeeded, controlling the Nine-Tails was beyond his current abilities.
Nine-Tails? Pass.
Aside from the tailed beast, the Sharingan was what interested Midorima the most.
Whether he was fighting the Uchiha clan or scheming to get the eyes in Danzo's possession, neither would be easy. High-level jutsu would be his lifeline.
By evening, as darkness settled, Kabuto finally returned.
This time, he brought two sets of Konoha shinobi uniforms for Midorima and Orochimaru. After they changed, he led them into the village.
This was Midorima's first time in Konoha.
Though he had seen it countless times in manga and anime before his transmigration, now he was truly setting foot in the village.
In the distance, a towering mountain was faintly visible under the moonlight.
That's the Hokage Monument… There should be four faces carved into it by now. Tsunade's will be added in the future.
Too bad Kirigakure doesn't have anything like this. It'd be fun to carve my own face into a mountain—though I wonder if a missing-nin can become Mizukage.
The thought flickered through his mind before he dismissed it.
Mei Terumī would make a better Mizukage anyway.
Once inside the village, Kabuto slipped into an alleyway, with Midorima close behind and Orochimaru taking the rear.
Kabuto zigzagged through the backstreets before stopping at a high wall. With a single leap, he cleared it and dropped into the courtyard on the other side. Midorima followed.
The courtyard was designed in traditional Japanese style, with pine and bamboo planted in the corners and a small pond at its center.
Kabuto led them into the house, stopping outside a room and knocking twice. A voice from inside called, "Enter."
Kabuto slid the door open and gestured for the two to go in.
"I'll wait out here—"
Before Midorima could finish, he caught Orochimaru's sharp glare.
As a transmigrator, he'd seen enough cliché dramas to know one universal rule: The more secrets you know, the sooner you die.
Hopefully, that trope won't apply to me.
Midorima followed Orochimaru inside and immediately spotted Danzo seated formally on a cushion.
By this point, Danzo was no longer entirely human—his right eye was bandaged, presumably concealing a Sharingan, and his right arm was similarly wrapped. But Midorima knew that arm was also embedded with Sharingan. How many, though? That's hard to say.
"Who is he?" Danzo asked.
"Consider him my disciple," Orochimaru replied calmly, sitting upright as he faced Danzo.
Midorima wasn't thrilled. Since when was I his disciple? Couldn't he just say I'm an assistant?
"What we discuss next should not leave this room," Danzo said coldly.
"That won't do. He's important to me. You didn't summon me here for small talk—otherwise, you wouldn't have agreed to my terms. If you need me for surgery, I want him as my assistant," Orochimaru stated firmly.
Danzo glanced at Midorima, his expression dismissive.
Midorima clenched his fist but returned the look with equal indifference.
