Chapter 8 - chapter 8

Chapter 8: The First Outside World

It happened without warning.

Hazel had returned home early one day.

"Let's go out together," she said softly.

Aaron immediately shouted yes.

Ethan nodded like it was a planned mission.

Ian simply stood up.

Alder grabbed Aven's hand.

And Aven—

was carried out of the mansion for the first time.

The World Outside

The air felt different.

Larger.

Uncontrolled.

The sky was too wide.

The sound of people too many.

Aven blinked slowly in Hazel's arms as they stepped into the city.

Cars passed.

People moved.

The world was louder than anything inside the mansion.

Aaron was completely excited.

"Everything is big!"

Ethan stayed close to Luca.

Ian watched silently.

Alder refused to let go of Aven's hand.

Hazel on Set

They arrived at a filming location.

Aven didn't understand it fully—but she watched carefully.

Hazel changed again.

Not into the soft mother she knew.

But into someone else entirely.

Confident.

Controlled.

Brilliant in a way that drew attention without effort.

"Action."

And suddenly—

Hazel became someone else.

Aven stared.

Her mother… wasn't just her mother.

She was someone the world looked at.

Someone the world listened to.

But between takes—

Hazel always looked back.

Always checked on them.

Always returned to them first.

That part didn't change.

Ethan Watches Carefully

Ethan stood quietly beside Luca during filming.

He observed everything.

Not the acting.

But the people.

The distance between his mother and others.

The way she still looked for them between scenes.

"…she never forgets us," Ethan said quietly.

Luca nodded once.

"Yes."

That seemed to satisfy him.

Aaron Gets in Trouble (Of Course)

Aaron, meanwhile, wandered too far.

He was caught by a staff member after attempting to "help filming."

He insisted loudly:

"I KNOW HOW TO BE A STAR!"

Ethan had to retrieve him.

Ian followed silently.

Aven just blinked at the chaos.

Ian and Aven's Quiet Moment

At one point, Ian sat with Aven away from the noise.

He pointed at Hazel.

"…mom."

Aven nodded slowly.

Then pointed at him.

"…Ian."

He paused.

Then nodded back.

That was enough.

No more words.

Just understanding.

Alder Still Holding On

Alder refused to let go of Aven the entire time.

Even when she shifted.

Even when she looked around.

Even when she reached for something else.

He simply held on tighter.

As if the outside world didn't matter as long as she was there.

Aven looked at him for a long moment.

Then gently patted his head.

Alder immediately relaxed.

A New Understanding

That night, when they returned home, Aven lay in her crib exhausted.

Her thoughts were quieter than usual.

The world is bigger than the house…

A pause.

But then—

But the house still feels more important.

Because outside…

Hazel belonged to the world.

But inside—

she always came back to them.

And slowly—

Aven began to understand something deeper.

Her family wasn't just protecting her.

They were choosing her.

Every day.

In small ways.

Without needing to say it.
