Lila was waiting patiently for the three intimidating vampires guard who had gone to inform the king about her presence.
After a while, they came back and spoke,
"The king summons you. " One of them said and led the way for her towrds the castle itself. While they were walking , Lila's eyes scanned the beauty gardens filled with flowers and roses until they reached the double doors of the castle. On reaching there, she came across more scary looking vampires guards. But she managed to hold herself from feeling nervous.
They opened the door for her and the guard before he led her to the left corridor where the huge dinning room was located.
The moment they reached the entrance, Lila didn't expect what was about to happen as she screamed in horror.
Isla had left the dinning room scare the human girl from nowhere. She had ran fast like a shadow bullet scaring the girl.
Lila who was about to step inside the dinning room scream in horror when she felt a whoosh of air flew past her.
Oh my, what a mere human girl you are. Fearing the royal vampires. A feminine voice spoke and it belonged to no other person than Louisa.
"Welcome to the King's palace. " Isla said with a wide grin, her light red eyes shining brightly.
"I guess you were the one who almost gave me a fright ". Lila said with a mischievous smile making Louisa chuckle softly.
Wow,not only courageous to enter into the vampires den, but to say such word. How bold of you? Louisa said with a wink.
"Thank you for welcoming me. " She said with a small bow. She was feeling so elated that they weren't looking at her hungrily. She had imagined the king or any of the vampire to grab her and take a sip of her blood, but none of what she had imagined had happened.
"It's such a pleasure to have a mere human girl in the midst of vampires, especially when we are fully sated. " Julian said with a loud laughter making Lila gulped hard.
"What does he mean by that?" She mused.
He is just joking. We don't drink directly from human, only through a glass cup. Louisa said as though she sense her not too obvious nervousness.
Uhm, I brought a letter for the king. She finally said dipping her hand in her pocket to bring out the folded parchment and stretching it forward.
The vampires eyes lingered on the parchment before Isla slowly took from her hand.
She walked towards King Lachlan and handed the letter to him.
King Lachlan took the letter and unfold it to read it's content.
"Permission to visit the royal castle anytime". He read aloud and the room was filled laughter.
To Lila, the laughter sounded like a mockery. But she didn't know. She wanted to know if the king will grant her the request she wished for.
King Lachlan eyes slowly fell on small fragile human girl before standing up.
Unconsciously, Lila took a step back making the royal vampires family gave her a confused look.
"What's wrong human?" Thomas asked with an amused smile.
Lila closed her eyes and fell on her knees.
"I'm sorry if the letter came off as a rude request. I will understand if you reject it". She said hastily.
"Get up!" King Lachlan ordered with a hot voice but it still sounded neutral for her.
Lila slowly opened her eyes, her Sapphire blue eyes dilating round but not look at the king who was busy watching her.
"Soft lucious brown hair and a beautiful sapphire blue eyes, perfect for a human girl like you". King Lachlan said with a subtle smile. His dark red eyes gleaned indifferently.
"If that's what you want, then so shall it be granted under one condition. " King Lachlan said and Lila raised an eyebrow. She never thought he'd want to make a bargain with her.
"What is the condition your majesty?" She asked defiantly.
"Whatever happens in the town, report it to the castle till I am satisfied". King Lachlan said and Lila had a shocked and surprised look.
" That alone? Does that mean I repor––" she paused trying to understand what the king meant.
"What's your name human girl? Isla asked.
"Lila!" She replied meekly.
Human Lila, Isla began and Lila tried not to wince with the way Isla just referred as human Lila.
"Lila is fine". Lila managed to say.
"Okay Lila, what the king meant is you report what ever happens in the village from the market square down to your house to the castle". Isla explained and Lila frowned at the last part.
Why should I report my dealings at home to the castle? She asked.
"The price to pay for visiting the royal vampires castle. " Louisa replied taking a long sip from her glass cup of wine.
"Oh. But does my family needs to know, what if they find out?" She asked.
This was her greatest fear. She didn't want her family to find out she visited the vampire King's castle, most especially her mother who had warned her about the dangers of visiting the deadly creatures castle. And now the king is suddenly interested in knowing what happens in her family.
"Did she truly made a mistake by visiting the royal castle?" She mused taking a deep sharp breath.
"What is it Lila?" Are you finding it hard to do such a simple task to explore this magnificent castle? Thomas asked tauntingly.
He was twirling his glass cup, enjoying the little dilemma of the innocent fragile human girl.
" No, I will do it ". She finally said with a firm and a resolute voice.
"Good then, if that's all, I'm off to my room". King Lachlan said and picked up a glass cup filled with a red substance.
Lila was staring at it wondering what it was.
As if reading her thoughts, Louisa spoke,
"It's human blood".
Lila turned to look at Louisa.
She didn't say anything and just bowed her head.
I will be taking my leave. She said and with that, turned back and was about to take a step when a masculine deep voice spoke, freezing her at that spot.
"Not too soon".
