Some minutes later, the finally arrived at the hospital, and Carie rushed out of the car to go meet Logan who was seated on the conjoined chairs and looked so blank.
"Logan, what happened to Hannah?" She asked when she approached him.
Charles also walked towards the emergency theatre where Carie was questioning Logan about Hannah's health.
Logan didn't say anything and stood up and walked towards the emergency door as he peeped through the hole of the OT as he watch how his wife was being operated on.
"If anything happens to Hannah, I won't forgive you. I know you hate her because she is a poor woman, but you can't keep mistreating her just because you were forced to marry her against your will. Grandpa won't be happy at all with the way you are treating the poor girl". Carie said with glistening tears as she walked towards him.
"At least if you don't love her, give her the respect she deserves as the daughter in law of the Emerson. " Carie said as a single tear rolled down her cheeks.
At the same time,The Emersons family already got a wind of what happened to Hannah and they all rushed to the hospital.
"Oh my, what happened to poor Hannah?" Mrs Emerson asked worriedly as she walked towards Logan.
"There is always one problem or the other," Grandma Emerson said bitterly as she walked over and sat on one of the conjoining chairs.
"Enough, Mother," Mr. Emerson said as he moved toward his wife.
"Hannah has Stage 2 glioblastoma," Carie said in a barely audible voice.
Everyone froze.
Even Grandma Emerson.
"What?!" Tessa gasped in shock.
Mrs. Emerson staggered backward, her eyes widening in disbelief.
"That's not true. That can't be true." Tears streamed down her cheeks. "How can such a young girl have cancer?"
Her voice broke as she looked desperately toward Logan.
"Logan isn't saying anything at all. Why is he so quiet?" she cried.
Overwhelmed by the news, Mrs. Emerson slowly sank to the ground.
"Excuse me," Charles said quietly before walking over to Logan. He leaned toward him and whispered something into his ear.
Logan listened silently.
Then he gave a small nod.
Charles turned around and left.
Two hours later, the surgery was a success and Dr. Greg came out with a deep frown.
"Doctor, how is my wife? Why was she having series of panic attack?" Logan asked without beating round the bush.
Dr Greg bowed his head as he didn't know how to break such a scary news to the whole family members.
While he was performing a surgery on her, he saw something strange in her brain.
"Speak doctor!" Logan ordered coldly as he glared daggers at the doctor.
"I never wished to say this but...."
"What did you do my poor niece? !" aunt Mary ran as fast as her legs could carry and suddenly grabbed Logan's by his collar.
"TELL ME YOU MONSTER!!" She yelled as angry tears rolled down her cheeks. But Logan didn't push her away as Mr Griffin slowly walked towards his wife and pulled her away.
"We can't hurt him. Don't forget, he is very powerful and influential. Anything you do or say will be used against us in the court of law". Mr Griffin said pitifully.
"Doctor, how is Hannah?" Aunt Tessa asked worriedly. Even though she didn't like Hannah, at least she should pretend to care.
Dr. Greg cleared his throat, drawing everyone's attention.
"Listen carefully," he began. "While we were performing the surgery to save her and prevent further complications, we discovered something unusual in her brain."
Everyone exchanged confused glances.
"What did you find?" Logan asked with a narrowed gaze.
Dr. Greg took a deep breath.
"Her memory pathways have been tampered with. And there's more. Some of the blood vessels connected to that area of the brain had ruptured."
Everyone's expression changed.
"Why?" Mrs Emerson asked.
We believe it happened because her brain was under extreme pressure," Dr. Greg explained. "She was trying to force herself to remember something–something that had been deliberately buried or forgotten. The attempt caused severe strain on the blood vessels surrounding the memory centers."
He paused.
"o… are you saying someone tampered with her memory?" Aunt Tessa asked, with curiosity.
Dr. Greg nodded slowly.
"Take a scan of her brain. I want to check something". Logan ordered coldly.
Aunt Mary and Mr Griffin suddenly turned stiff upon hearing the words the doctor said and what Logan just told the doctor to do.
They turned to look at each other for a brief moment before Aunt Mary walked towards the doctor.
"Nothing should happen to my daughter please doctor. Do every thing to save her." She pleaded with tears rolling down her cheeks.
"We will try our best. Hug first we have to do a brain scan for her according to her husband. " Doctor Greg said and walked away without another word.
Aunt Mary staggered backwards as she didn't know what will happen next.
"Come with me Mary." Mr Griffin said as he grabbed her by her wrist and left the corridor.
Unknown to them, Logan had noticed and been observing their strange behaviours. Since the moment the doctor announced about Hannah's condition, the couple have been acting strange which wasn't right. Something seems to be wrong and he will definitely find out.
He turned around and was ready to leave when Tessa spoke,
"Where are you going? "
Logan paused and turned to look at her.
"Focus on bringing your daughter back from abroad and leave my matters alone." He warned coldly and walked away.
Carie didn't say anything and followed after her brother.
"Logan, wait I want to follow you to where you are going to". She called out behind him as she try to match up with his pace.
Logan paused his steps and turned to look at her.
"Wait for Char....."
He paused when he suddenly grabbed Carie by her wrist as he pulled her behind him the moment he caught sight of Hannah's aunt and uncle.
"What are you...."
"Shh...look over there. And pay attention to what they are saying". He said in a low tone.
Carie turned to look at the them from the corner.
At the same time, the tensed couple looked at each other with Mr Griffin pacing back and forth.
"Hannah can't afford to remember. I don't have the strength to answer all her questions". Aunt Mary said worriedly.
