The alarm rang around 4 am the next day, and Gloria opened her eyes groggily, feeling sleepy, but didn't dare close her eyes.
After stretching her body, while chasing away the sleepiness, she reluctantly got off her bed, took a look at the small bundle sleeping on the bed, and put on her slippers before dragging her feet to the bathroom.
Ten minutes later, she reemerged looking very fresh with all the sleepiness gone.
Ten more minutes, and she was done changing into something warm and ready to deal with Raine, who was still sleeping soundly.
She felt very sorry that she was putting Raine through all this, but she couldn't risk it. She didn't know what her foster parents or Simon were going to do. Although there were bodyguards with her, it wasn't time yet to expose too much.
