The next day I got up only to see Ethan hugging me like a puppy. His head was buried in my chest and his hand was tightly gripped against my waist. I tried to pull away but Ethan just held me closer. I sighed and stayed there for a while like that. At least I am getting some peace this time. Just as I was going to pull away again Ethan released me and said "Good morning wife." I nodded and said "Good morning"
That was the only conversation that happen today as after that my secretary came and informed me that there are some important meetings which needed to be attended today only and surprisingly Ethan nodded and let me go. After the meetings the usual endless pile of documents which was not surprising at all. I worked till 9 pm and when I got off the office I didn't see Ethan. Which was also surprising of course. Since, Ethan was not around I decided to go to the usual night social meetings which happens almost everyday but I don't go often.
Since today there was an auction held it was special. Well, to speak the truth auctions are common but THESE types of auctions are not. Since today there was a VIP auction held which is among the top 15 companies and underground mafias. This is not actually an auction but rather a competition between the powerful. Not only these types of auctions which is held once a year or sometimes twice a year and it is a competition. The secret government officials also come and decide the power chat for the year. And power charts give you access to the underground markets more and relationship with government but also it invites more money and certainly enemies. I earlier decided to go to the auction with Ethan but since he was not around, I decided to go with Raphael instead.
"How do I look?" I asked while my secretary was driving the car to the venue and Raphael was checking the stock market. Raphael turned to me and said "You are handsome as always Mr. Sullivan but there is no point since your handsome face will be hidden under your mask." Well… he had a point. Since mask is compulsory, I had to wear one. But truth to be told. Everyone knew each other. These masks are special masks which is give according to the power chart. I had the mask of the emerald since my family came of the third of the power chart, I eventually had the emerald mask. Half an hour after that conversation I was there on the venue with Rapheal. Taking the seat. Well, it was also compulsory to have a partner with you. It doesn't matter if the partner is just a random employee or a member of the power chart.
I sat there waiting for the auction to start when a familiar voice slid under my ear. It was Julian. He was wearing an identical Emerald mask as mine. I smiled at me and greeted me saying "Good evening brother. Are you here with Ethan?" I smiled and said "Good evening to you to. But unfortunately, Ethan is busy." Julian sighed and said "Brother. Can I talk to you privately." And just as I nodded, he clumsily grabbed my hand and dragged me to the one of the VIP private rooms. "Bro, I and Felix have decided to have our engagement party next month. Are you and Ethan available?" I sighed and said "Yeah I am available but I also don't think that I will be able to come since I am pregnant." Julian's face saddens but he knew himself how hard it is to be pregnant. He gave a faint smile and said "Well, you are pregnant." After that we both exited the private room. The once silent room which was barely filled became crowed. While I and Julian were talking everyone had arrived one by one. Among the crowd a tall figure was standing which was felix. The moment we came out I knew that his gaze was fixed up on Julian. And I also knew that Julian must have come with Felix. A while after felix stared at Julian he rushed to Julian's side. Which reminded me of Ethan. Well… I wonder where he was. So busy that he didn't have time for me.
While Julian and Felix had their couple moment I got into my seat with Raphael. 10 minutes before the auction begins. So, Raphael started listing me the items which is coming up in the auction and the people who are attending the auction. I sat there silently like before. Nothing but a statue. 5 minutes before the auction still sitting like a statue until. Some one came from behind and said "Wife" and I knew it was Ethan. I turned back and saw Ethan in his usual neat suit and handsome face. I didn't even notice him come. But there was a burning felling in my chest. AND I know something is going to happen. Before Ethan fully walked towards me, I whispered to Rapheal "Go and log out of the auction. And also take my secretary with you. You both go. We will meet tomorrow." As I finished the whispering. Rapheal hurried and fled the scene. I could practically see Ethan's dark eyes turning extra dark with each step he took towards me.
He stood in front of me and scanned me two to three times before he silently sat next to me on the same seat which Raphael have sat just a minute ago. It was not even surprising for the other people present here anymore that Ethan was sitting next to me as a partner. But most of the eyes went the way towards the other couple or rather the new interesting topic for the mafias. Ms. Riva and Ms. Evans. I had expected them to come together but it was not the same for the other people present here. Just as I was observing them more Ethan said in a low voice. "Wife, do you sill love me? I assume not since you are taking a normal low paid employee with you as a partner even though you have me. Who is your husband. Your child's father."
