Soul Society, Seireitei.
Kenpachi Zaraki had joined the Gotei 13. Due to his exceptional combat prowess and his own insistence, he was assigned to the 11th Division, a division known for its focus on combat.
However, his solitary nature and unconventional personality made him unpopular with his fellow squad members.
"Did you hear? This newcomer has challenged the captain five or six times already. He clearly doesn't understand the meaning of death," one squad member scoffed in the 11th Division's break room.
Another squad member chuckled, "You should look at his name; it includes 'Kenpachi.' Maybe he'll be our boss one day."
Both erupted into laughter.
Kenpachi Zaraki, the target of their ridicule, was present and overheard their conversation clearly.
While the other members of the 11th Division weren't as openly disrespectful, their gazes towards Kenpachi Zaraki were cold and distant, indicating his failure to integrate into the team.
Leaning against a wall, cradling his Zanpakutō, Kenpachi Zaraki was far from content. However, as a member of the Gotei 13, he was bound by its rules.
If he were to eliminate these two insolent individuals, he would face indefinite imprisonment, forfeiting future opportunities for combat and leaving his companion, Yachiru Kusajishi, without care.
Yachiru Kusajishi, her face flushed with anger, puffed out her cheeks, making her already cherubic features even rounder.
Although she was eager to confront the two who had mocked Kenpachi Zaraki, he restrained her. For a man who preferred to let his blade do the talking, the constraints of the rules prevented him from resorting to violence, and he refused to stoop to petty squabbles with such insignificant individuals.
Securing Yachiru Kusajishi in his right arm, Kenpachi Zaraki decided to take a walk to compose himself.
Many frustrations weighed heavily on his mind. His repeated challenges to the current Kenpachi had been met with rejection, followed by the incessant mockery of his fellow squad members.
Even more galling was Captain-Commander Yamamoto Genryūsai Shigekuni's recent change in demeanor.
Shortly after Kenpachi Zaraki's integration into the Gotei 13, Captain-Commander Yamamoto Genryūsai Shigekuni had proactively offered to provide him with swordsmanship instruction.
Following their initial encounter, Kenpachi Zaraki had been swiftly and decisively defeated, readily acknowledging the Captain-Commander's superior skill and expressing profound gratitude for the offer of tutelage.
However, within a matter of days, the Captain-Commander's attitude had undergone a dramatic shift. Not only did he cease to proactively seek out Kenpachi Zaraki for training sessions, but even when Kenpachi Zaraki personally sought his guidance, he was met with evasive responses and thinly veiled excuses.
Kenpachi Zaraki remained entirely unaware that this abrupt change in attitude stemmed from a directive issued by the Central 46. Furthermore, such matters were not likely to be divulged to him.
"Hmph!"
Kenpachi Zaraki let out a forceful snort, plunging his Zanpakutō into the ground with considerable force, as if attempting to vent his pent-up frustration.
"Ken-chan, if you're unhappy, let's return to Rukongai!" Yachiru Kusajishi suggested, her voice laced with concern.
"If not within the Gotei 13, where else could I possibly find acceptance?" Kenpachi Zaraki sighed, his voice heavy with resignation.
At that very moment, a figure from his past resurfaced in his memory—the enigmatic masked individual he had encountered on a previous occasion.
Raising his arm, Kenpachi Zaraki examined the black crow mark that adorned his skin, a frown etching itself onto his brow.
As the mysterious individual had previously indicated, he resided within Hueco Mundo and had extended an invitation for Kenpachi Zaraki to join his ranks.
Should Kenpachi Zaraki accept this invitation, it would inevitably lead him down a path that would be irrevocably at odds with his identity as a Shinigami.
"Yachiru Kusajishi," Kenpachi Zaraki inquired, his gaze softening as he lowered his head to meet the gaze of his steadfast companion, "should I choose to venture into Hueco Mundo, would you remain by my side?"
Yachiru Kusajishi, her face radiant with a childlike smile, responded without hesitation. "Naturally! Wherever you may go, I shall follow!"
Upon hearing Yachiru Kusajishi's unwavering affirmation, a surge of warmth filled Kenpachi Zaraki's heart. Perhaps it was the unwavering presence of Yachiru Kusajishi that had prevented him from succumbing entirely to the seductive allure of relentless slaughter.
"As long as Yachiru Kusajishi is with me," Kenpachi Zaraki declared, his voice filled with newfound resolve, "what difference does it make whether I remain in Soul Society or venture into Hueco Mundo? The world is vast and expansive, and since the Gotei 13 has proven incapable of accommodating my unique nature, I shall explore the possibilities that await me within Hueco Mundo!"
Having reached an irrevocable decision, Kenpachi Zaraki utilized his Reiatsu to obliterate the crow mark that had been imprinted upon his arm.
Approximately ten seconds later, a spatial vortex materialized before him, its swirling tendrils beckoning him towards the unknown.
Yusuke Uchiha, a raven perched upon his shoulder, observed Kenpachi Zaraki and Yachiru Kusajishi, now attired in their Shinigami uniforms, a gentle smile gracing his lips. "Have you both reached a decision?" he inquired, his voice measured yet cordial. "Upon your entry into Hueco Mundo, you will become my subordinates."
Yusuke Uchiha's current appearance differed dramatically from the form he had assumed during their initial encounter, leaving Kenpachi Zaraki and Yachiru Kusajishi momentarily perplexed.
However, Kenpachi Zaraki, leveraging his innate ability to discern the presence of powerful spiritual energy, quickly identified the bespectacled man before him as the enigmatic masked individual from their previous encounter.
"Serving as your subordinate presents no issue," Kenpachi Zaraki declared, his characteristic grin splitting his face, "provided that you can furnish me with the opportunity to experience the unadulterated thrill of unrestrained combat."
Kenpachi Zaraki's countenance was far from benign, his eyes radiating a palpable aura of unrestrained ferocity. His grin alone was enough to strike fear into the hearts of most individuals.
Yusuke Uchiha responded with a reassuring smile. "Rest assured," he replied, his voice calm and confident, "you shall not be disappointed."
Approaching Kenpachi Zaraki with deliberate steps, Yusuke Uchiha placed one hand firmly upon his shoulder, while simultaneously scooping up Yachiru Kusajishi in his other hand.
With a swift activation of his Kamui spatial displacement technique, the trio instantaneously reappeared within the opulent confines of Las Noches' throne room.
Gazing upon the surrounding splendor of the palace, Kenpachi Zaraki's brow furrowed in a mixture of astonishment and bewilderment. "I had been led to believe that Hueco Mundo was a desolate wasteland," he remarked, his voice laced with incredulity, "inhabited solely by Hollows who dwell within crudely fashioned caves. Yet, here before me stands a palace of such grandeur!"
Yusuke Uchiha responded calmly, "This is Las Noches, and it shall serve as the supreme governing body of Hueco Mundo. You may consider it analogous to the Seireitei of Soul Society."
"The Seireitei, you say? That certainly wasn't a particularly pleasant place to reside," Kenpachi Zaraki remarked, a wry smile playing upon his lips.
At this juncture, Kenpachi Zaraki's demeanor underwent a sudden transformation, his expression contorting into a ferocious grimace, his eyes burning with an intense battle lust as he fixed his gaze upon Yusuke Uchiha.
"Now then," he declared, his voice resonating with unwavering conviction, "in your capacity as my superior, it is incumbent upon you to demonstrate the requisite strength to effectively command my formidable power!"
Yusuke Uchiha found himself taken aback by Kenpachi Zaraki's unexpectedly circuitous approach to issuing a challenge, his blunt declaration of intent cloaked in a veneer of formality.
Nevertheless, Yusuke Uchiha had anticipated this confrontation from the outset.
Observing Kenpachi Zaraki's palpable eagerness for combat, Yusuke Uchiha responded with a composed smile.
"Very well," he replied, his voice steady and controlled, "permit me to assess whether your strength truly merits your ascension to a position of high rank within the esteemed ranks of Las Noches."
