Chapter 288 - Chapter 287— I’ve Come To Get You, My Princess

In Conan's world, an organization like the Black Organization could spray Tokyo Tower with gunfire, so it was no surprise that hundreds of terrorists would lay siege to a foreign dignitary's building.

Bullshit!

"This world is insane!!"

Misato, driving at top speed, roared in anger. The situation in this world was so absurd she didn't even know what to say. Even in her world after the Cataclysm nothing this ridiculous had ever happened!

This wasn't magic but it was the stuff of fantasy.

Ryuji, meanwhile, calmly loaded magazine into the machine gun in his hands; the thing was loot from his fight with Gin. Ammo was limited, and only a dozen or so grenades, this was certainly not enough in ordinary hands, but not for Ryuji's.

"Calm down. Once you've seen a little girl who used to be weak and frail, with hardly any meat on her butt, suddenly turn her back to the sun, lift her loincloth, and transform into an ultimate being, you won't be this surprised anymore."

He really didn't care. He'd seen so many magical things; this level of nonsense wouldn't disturb his composure!

There were plenty of idiots in this world who had no idea how strong they were; people like him are considered rare species.

"Hmm, be careful later. Although I can deal with these guys quickly, but it'll still be dangerous for you."

With the shotgun loaded, Ryuji checked the ammo of the other firearms and said that to a tense Mira.

Honestly, he was thinking whether he could imbue bullets with sword qi. Because if he could, both speed and power would increase, and the consumption would be low. It would be very useful.

Mira pressed her lips together. She originally thought Ran would be safe because as long as Ran was protected by Mira's entourage, nothing would happen but who could have thought her uncle would be so cruel!

"I'm sorry for putting Ran in danger."

Ryuji nodded; this was indeed Princess Mira's fault, but…

"Yeah, this is on you. So when you two are together, you should apologize to Ran and put up with me more."

After finishing the weapons check, Ryuji smiled at Mira, and the moment Misato drove the car into the corner, he leapt out and started moving forward in his own way.

Mira was stunned for a moment. At first she didn't react to why she should put up with Ryuji, then she realized: she was exhausted while Ryuji was still full of vigor, and in the end she'd have to use her mouth and the later scenes!

"That bastard!"

She slammed the car door in fury. She had pretty much figured out Ryuji's idea: he just wanted her and Ran to that with him.

"You only just noticed?" Misato couldn't help but complain, then picked up her pistol.

"Be careful from now on. Don't come out recklessly."

She took a deep breath. Although Ryuji would likely handle most of the problems, who knew what else might happen?

"Mm, I know."

Her hand rested on the car window as she watched in the direction Ryuji had gone, taking another deep breath.

He had only met me once, yet he was willing to risk his life for me…

Then… letting him have his way a little wasn't such a big deal.

However, the Ryuji whom Mira thought was fighting life and death for her felt absolutely no pressure at all.

"Hmm, looks like Ran's situation is quite good."

Glancing toward Ran, who was his target.... Ryuji saw that although Ran seemed a little panicked, the expressions of those around her were calm. Clearly, they were confident in holding their position.

As Ryuji crossed over a tall building and slipped past the police blockade, the scene before him was exactly as he had imagined.

A group of masked men were frantically firing at the guards inside the building, while another squad exchanged shots with the police. Judging by their formation and equipment, there was no doubt, they were regular soldiers.

But...

"A mob."

Ryuji extended his hand and fished around in his pocket, pulling out a black cotton sock.

Theoretically, it belonged to Ran.

He hesitated, shoved it back, and instead took out a triangle piece of cloth made of fine silk.

That one belonged to Mira.

"Emmm…"

Ryuji hesitated for a moment, didn't bother checking his other pockets, and instead stretched out his hand. Instantly, the moisture in the air condensed rapidly in his palm, forming a grim oni mask over his face. He also shouted in a very ritualistic manner.

"Transform!"

The mask completely enveloped his face, while pieces of protective armor took shape along parts of his body, shielding his neck and head.

He had no choice, there were too many enemies.

With his Observation Haki unleashed, every movement within a hundred meters fell within his perception. Ryuji suddenly stomped down on the rooftop and leapt toward the Sakurasaku Hotel where Ran was.

His flying figure immediately drew the attention of nearby police officers, but just as they stared in shock, Ryuji began his slaughter.

The machine gun in his hands roared, pouring a storm of blazing bullets downward. Before the terrorists could react, the bullets pierced through their skulls from above, causing them to fall to the ground like wheat.

A second later, his body crashed through the glass windows of the building, landing right in the midst of the terrorists exchanging fire with the bodyguards.

Without the slightest delay, Ryuji seized the arm of a terrorist holding a machine gun, twisted it to aim at his comrades, and at the same time pulled the pin on the grenade hanging from the man's belt. With a kick, he sent the terrorist... still clutching the live grenade... flying into another group of enemies.

The explosion thundered through the floor, scattering body parts and blood mist everywhere. Ryuji's body shifted instantly, dodging the next wave of bullets and line of fire.

In his mind, every time an enemy raised a gun, the trajectory and timing of their shots were already calculated. Within a single heartbeat, he found the perfect path to evade.

His figure flickered like a ghost through the chaos. Before the terrorists could even react, Ryuji was already upon them. A rain of bullets poured down again, wiping them all out completely.

While he was doing all this, the terrorists downstairs were still struggling, and even the police hadn't figured out what had just happened.

"Thirty-seven kills in six seconds… modern weapons really are handy."

He casually tossed the empty magazine, reloaded with a fresh one, and under the dumbfounded stares of the security guards, charged forward again... launching a counterattack against the oncoming terrorists.

Because everything happened so fast, they hadn't even realized their comrades were already wiped out!

The security personnel stared in shock at the man who appeared out of nowhere, killed all their attackers, and vanished just as quickly.

"Is that… even human?"

Looking at the corpses that were still twitching, not even knowing who had killed them and listening to the now one-sided gunfire from below, the guards couldn't help but swallow hard.

The strongest gunman they had ever seen was Daisuke Jigen, who could draw and fire within 0.3 seconds and dodge based purely on his opponent's movements.

But this man... what was his firing speed?

Why couldn't those facing him even manage a reflexive shot?

Looking at the corpses on the ground, they genuinely couldn't comprehend it.

And Ryuji, on the other hand, couldn't understand why there were so many stupid people in this world.

"These guys don't even have heavy weapons. With just submachine guns and pistols, how could they possibly hope to kill Mira?"

While gunning down more terrorists, Ryuji muttered his complaints.

All these terrorists carried were grenades and SMGs and maybe a few spare pistols. That might be dangerous for ordinary civilians, sure, but against the leader of a country? This level of threat was laughable. As long as the guards could hold out for thirty minutes, these attackers were as good as dead.

Still, when he remembered that the mastermind behind all this was some fool trying to stir up chaos in America's backyard, Ryuji decided there was no point thinking too deeply about it.

"Utterly brainless."

He blew open the head of the last charging terrorist and picked up a fallen earpiece. From it came the urgent, panicked voice of a commander, repeatedly asking why contact had been lost.

Ryuji checked his phone. From the moment he'd entered to now... when he'd wiped out over a hundred terrorists in the building, it had been just five minutes.

Sure, that was a short time, but this commander's sluggish reaction was almost impressive.

"Moshi moshi~ gentlemen, are you ready to face the wrath of the Japanese police?"

Ryuji chuckled lightly. The terrorists inside the building were finished; only the ones guarding the escape routes outside were left.

Lifting his gaze toward the window, he saw the armed helicopters approaching.

Unlike him, ordinary infantrymen equipped only with SMGs and grenades would be nothing but targets for those choppers.

"Looks like the Japanese government's really pissed this time."

Humming a tune, Ryuji walked toward the security guards who were methodically checking the floors. But the moment they saw him, they subconsciously raised their guns in unison.

It wasn't that they didn't know how strong he was. It was precisely because they did that, in their tense state, they still couldn't help but aim at him.

"Your courage is commendable," Ryuji said with a smirk. "But I'm only here to pick up my princess. Your princess is already on her way home, so please, no need to be so hot-headed."

He casually tossed away his gun, it was out of bullets anyway. It wasn't important anymore, and if dropping it helped them relax, he didn't mind.

Unfortunately, the guards still didn't lower their weapons, refusing to let their guard down for even a second.

"Looks like you don't believe me?"

Ryuji raised an eyebrow, but just then, a blond, blue-eyed man in his forties stepped forward and motioned for the others to lower their guns.

"Put your weapons down. If he truly meant harm, it would make no difference."

"But, Lord Keith..."

The guard tried to object, but the man named Keith... pressed down the barrel of his weapon.

"Do as I say."

Reluctantly, the bodyguards lowered their guns, though their eyes remained filled with wary fear. Ryuji's presence was simply too overwhelming. However this man named Keith, in contrast, seemed utterly calm... almost trusting.

"Since you're here, Sir Ryuji, I assume Princess Mira is safe and sound."

Leading Ryuji forward, Keith spoke as they walked.

Ryuji paused briefly. While it was true that Mira wasn't in danger anymore, "safe and sound" wasn't exactly accurate, she still had a deep wound in her lower body. In the rush earlier, he had forgotten to heal her properly, so she was probably walking with a bit of a limp right now.

"Hmm, I wouldn't say completely safe and sound," Ryuji admitted, "but yes... she's safe."

"It seems the princess went through quite an ordeal," Keith murmured, though he didn't pry further. As long as she was alive, that was enough.

"Please rest assured, Miss Mouri is also safe," he added while leading Ryuji up the stairwell to the top floor, arriving at a luxurious presidential suite. Keith opened the door.

The moment the door swung open, Ran saw Ryuji and he smiled, waving at her.

"Well then, my princess," he said warmly, "I've come to get you."
