After we'd played for what felt like hours, Leona finally headed inside.
"I'll put the kids down for their naps."
She gave me a tired smile before disappearing into the building.
I watched her go for a moment before turning toward the director's office.
That was why we'd come here in the first place.
The children had been fun, but I hadn't forgotten our actual purpose.
When I entered the office, the director was already waiting for me.
He sat behind his desk with his hands folded, his expression calm and composed.
It seemed like he'd been expecting me.
"First, I should thank you."
He bowed his head slightly.
"Thank you for everything you did today. The children aren't usually this open with strangers."
I waved my hand dismissively.
"It wasn't anything special. Kids are like that."
I glanced toward the door.
"Although, children in orphanages tend to be a little more guarded. Even when you try to get close to them, they don't always open up easily."
