Chapter 39 - Chapter 39: Stink Bomb

Fang Yuqing felt sorry for her sofa but disgusted by Zhou Peng, who was soaked in urine. After all, Zhou Peng was the one who got splashed the most when he was at the door.

She immediately yelled at Zhou Peng, telling him not to sit on the sofa.

Zhou Peng felt incredibly wronged. He had only gone to cause trouble for Zhang Yi because Fang Yuqing told him to. Now, not only was he drenched in urine and shivering from the cold, but he also had injuries. And yet, Fang Yuqing was treating him like this!

Still, a "simp" is a "simp." Zhou Peng quickly rationalized it: Fang Yuqing had every reason to scold him. He had failed to accomplish what she asked, and now his dirty body was about to soil her sofa. The more he thought about it, the more he felt he deserved to be scolded.

He quickly stood up and apologized to Fang Yuqing, "I'm sorry, Yuqing, it's all my fault. Please don't be mad!"

Fang Yuqing and Lin Cainin were eager to change their clothes, so they waved him off impatiently. "Just get out! We need to change."

Zhou Peng didn't dare say anything else and quickly left Fang Yuqing's house.

The two women hurried back to their rooms to change out of the urine-soaked clothes Zhang Yi had splashed on them. However, even after changing, they could still smell the stench.

The problem was that it wasn't just their clothes—urine had gotten into their hair and onto their skin, even running down their necks.

With the weather being so cold, taking a bath would be a death sentence, so they had no choice but to endure the disgust.

Having failed their mission and been humiliated with urine, their hatred for Zhang Yi only deepened.

"What do we do? Zhang Yi is too crafty, not easy to deal with!"

"Damn it, no matter what, I'm going to take his house from him!"

"We'll figure something out. There's no way he doesn't have a weakness!"

As they were discussing how to handle Zhang Yi, a message from Zhang Yi popped up on Fang Yuqing's phone:

"This time it was urine. Next time, I'll be throwing feces at you! (?w?)"

The only reason it had been urine this time was that Zhang Yi hadn't had time to prepare. If he had, they would have been greeted with buckets of feces.

Fang Yuqing and Lin Cainin's faces turned green. If they were covered in feces, they'd want to die!

Zhang Yi closed the chat, ignoring any further messages from Fang Yuqing. Even though he had silenced notifications, the number of unread messages was rapidly increasing, and he didn't need to look to know they weren't anything pleasant.

He checked the community group chat and found an amusing scene.

Ever since her house was taken over by Chen Zhenghao, Aunt Lin seemed to have lost her mind. Now, she was continuously sending voice messages in the group, demanding that everyone hand over their supplies.

"I'm the head of this neighborhood's committee! If you don't listen to me, I'll have you all arrested once the snow melts!"

"Did you hear me? You all need to deliver your food to my house today!"

But this time, almost no one paid her any attention.

Ten days had passed, and by now, everyone understood the true situation: the authorities couldn't help everyone, and Aunt Lin's so-called committee authority amounted to nothing.

Unable to intimidate anyone, she was instead met with a barrage of mockery.

"Damn old woman, why don't you just die already?"

"You swindled a box of instant noodles from me before. I haven't even settled the score with you yet!"

Someone brought up what happened at the beginning of the snowstorm.

"If it weren't for you saying everything would be fine and discouraging us from stockpiling supplies, would we be in this situation?"

The mention of this instantly reignited everyone's anger.

When the snow first began, even though it was freezing outside, some people still wanted to go out and shop.

But at the time, Aunt Lin kept saying the snowstorm would soon pass and warned that anyone hoarding supplies would be punished, so most people didn't dare to go out.

A few days later, the snow had sealed off all roads, and going out became impossible.

If it hadn't been for her, everyone could have stockpiled at least two more weeks' worth of supplies!

"Damn old woman, look at what you've done!"

"You're a plague on us all!"

Neighbors cursed at Aunt Lin relentlessly.

At that moment, the rich second-generation Xu Hao appeared in the chat.

"I'll buy any food or drink you have at a high price. I'll pay 10,000 yuan for a packet of instant noodles and 5,000 yuan for a bottle of mineral water!"

Instant noodles had now reached a price of 10,000 yuan. Xu Hao was clearly desperate. If he didn't use his money soon, it would be worthless.

Zhang Yi shook his head. "At a time like this, and he still thinks money will buy him things."

As soon as Zhang Yi made the remark, someone in the chat responded.

"I have some food at home. I can sell it to you."

Zhang Yi was speechless.

It seemed that no matter the circumstances, there would always be greedy people willing to risk their lives for money.

Even with the slim chance of survival, some were still betting that the snowstorm wouldn't last too long.

But Zhang Yi knew better. This storm would continue for an unbearably long time.

Even when the snow finally stopped, the world would need a very long time to recover.

Money would soon be worth less than toilet paper—at least toilet paper could still be used for something practical.

With that thought, Zhang Yi couldn't help but let his mind wander to a mischievous idea.

His warehouse was stocked with an abundance of toilet paper, far more than he could ever use. But the same couldn't be said for his neighbors.

When their toilet paper ran out, what would they use?

He chuckled to himself but then shook his head.

"With so little food, they probably won't have much need for it anyway!"

This realization, however, signaled that the fragile peace they'd been maintaining was about to break.

Zhang Yi knew that once the food completely ran out, people would turn into terrifying beasts.

The next day, Fang Yuqing and Lin Cainin showed up at Zhang Yi's door again, knocking and pleading. They begged Zhang Yi to let them in, claiming they were about to freeze to death.

Zhang Yi completely ignored them.

Freeze to death? That's exactly what Zhang Yi hoped for.

When there was no response, they tried a different tactic, reminding him of their past connections and saying that even if he didn't let them in, they'd be grateful if he gave them a little food.

Through the surveillance camera, Zhang Yi noticed they were both holding umbrellas, clearly traumatized by the urine he'd splashed on them the day before.

But Zhang Yi wasn't foolish enough to open the door.

If he guessed right, they were both carrying knives, ready to kill him and seize his house and supplies.

Zhang Yi thought for a moment, then opened his interdimensional space.

In his warehouse, he had all sorts of miscellaneous items, many of which he'd collected simply because he could.

One of those things was a box of prank stink bombs.

These toys were designed for mischief: once lit, they emitted a vile stench that was nearly impossible to wash off, even with water and detergent.

Hearing the two women's voices outside, Zhang Yi smirked, grabbed two stink bombs, and walked toward the door.
