Zhou Peng, seeing that no one was responding to him, knocked even harder on the door.
"Zhang Yi! Zhang Yi! It's Zhou Peng!"
"Open the door, I have something very important to say to you."
Zhang Yi sneered, reaching for his gun, and with a "click," he disengaged the safety.
He walked to the door, "Who is it?"
Hearing Zhang Yi's voice, Zhou Peng quickly signaled Fang Yuqing and Lin Caining to get ready.
The two women, experiencing this for the first time, were nervous.
But once they thought about the warm, comfortable house with plenty of food that they could move into after killing Zhang Yi, their resolve immediately strengthened!
Zhou Peng said, "Zhang Yi, it's Zhou Peng. We've run out of food at home. Since we're colleagues, could you spare me some food?"
He put on a pleading expression, but secretly lowered his hand, ready to draw the knife at any moment.
Zhang Yi leaned against the door, saying casually, "We don't have any food either. I can't help you with this."
Fang Yuqing and Lin Caining cursed inwardly.
How can you not have food at home?
There are seven or eight boxes of food in your kitchen, including scallops, abalone, and dried shrimp. Are you telling me that's all fake?
But they were prepared for this situation.
Zhou Peng gritted his teeth and pulled out a box of medicine from his pocket.
"Zhang Yi, I'm not taking advantage of you! I'll trade you a box of ibuprofen."
In the freezing cold, many people had colds or fevers. In these conditions, medicine could save lives, and its value was almost as high as food.
To tempt Zhang Yi into opening the door, Zhou Peng decided to offer the ibuprofen he had kept.
Meanwhile, Zhang Yi, standing behind the door, was thinking about how to deal with them.
Should he just kill them?
It would be simple—whether with a gun or a crossbow, he could kill them instantly.
But killing them in such a straightforward manner seemed a bit too boring.
In the apocalypse, death was a relief. It was surviving that was the real hell.
He definitely wouldn't make things easy for these lowlifes.
After a moment of thought, Zhang Yi came up with an idea.
He walked over to the trash can and pulled out a bottle of "Mydrink."
Having just finished several cans of beer, he suddenly felt the urge to pee.
He went to the bottle, opened it, and began to relieve himself with a loud splashing sound.
"Ibuprofen? That's not bad. Let me think about it," Zhang Yi said lazily, as he continued to urinate.
The others outside could hear the faint sound of water splashing, but they had no idea what Zhang Yi was doing.
Still, hearing Zhang Yi's tone seemed promising, and excitement flashed across their faces.
Zhou Peng quickly said, "Yes, yes, open the door, let's exchange. I don't need much—just two packs of instant noodles will do!"
At the current prices in the neighborhood, ibuprofen could easily be exchanged for five packs of instant noodles!
Zhou Peng deliberately offered a low price to trick Zhang Yi into opening the door.
"Two packs of noodles? I'm afraid you'll lose out on this deal. That wouldn't feel right," Zhang Yi said with a smirk.
After finishing his business, Zhang Yi grabbed a bottle of iced tea, completely full and even foaming at the top.
Zhou Peng thought that Zhang Yi was about to bite and leaned toward the door.
"It's fine, I'm really hungry right now. Since we're colleagues, it's better to give it to you than to someone else. Hurry up and open the door!"
Zhang Yi stood on a stool and moved to the peephole. Then, he took the bottle of hot iced tea and poured it directly onto the three people standing outside the door.
Zhou Peng and the others were shocked as the liquid splashed over their heads.
Fang Yuqing and Lin Caining let out loud screams.
"Ah! What is this?!"
"Hey, it's hot water! It's still steaming!"
At first, the warmth made them feel relieved, but within a second, they noticed the strange, pungent smell.
"This... This is urine!!!"
"Ahhh!!!"
The two women screamed like pigs being slaughtered and immediately crouched on the ground, vomiting uncontrollably.
Zhou Peng, filled with rage, turned red with fury. He slammed the door with his fists.
"Zhang Yi, I @#¥*!%#¥! You bastard, get out here, I'm going to kill you!"
However, the heavy metal door didn't budge at all, and Zhou Peng's hands ached terribly.
Inside, Zhang Yi's loud laughter could be heard.
"How does my urine taste? Is it good to drink?"
"A bunch of idiots, you still want to come and mess with me? Do you even deserve that?"
Zhou Peng and the others suddenly realized they had been discovered by Zhang Yi.
They were both furious and scared, yelling curses at Zhang Yi through the door.
Zhou Peng shouted, "Damn it, I shouldn't have wasted my time talking to you! You better wait for me, I'll come in and kill you!"
He no longer pretended, pulling out a kitchen knife from his clothes and desperately hacking at the door!
Ordinary doors were made of wood, and as long as the lock was damaged, they could break in.
But Zhang Yi's door was made from integrated metal alloy, designed to withstand RPG blasts!
Zhou Peng's knife struck the door, but it was like hitting a steel plate.
The door didn't even budge, and the tremendous recoil sent the kitchen knife flying out of his hand!
The knife missed Zhou Peng's head by inches, leaving a deep gash across his skull.
His palm was also torn open, bleeding profusely.
Here's a little biology lesson—skin is more fragile in the winter, and pain is felt more intensely.
Zhou Peng froze, horrified by how close he had come to dying. If the knife had been even slightly off, it would have struck his face.
However, his dazed state was quickly interrupted by a searing pain.
"Ahhh!!"
Zhou Peng screamed in agony.
The two women, seeing this, were so frightened that they abandoned Zhou Peng and ran away in panic.
Zhang Yi, watching everything from inside, weighed his options with the gun in his hand, wondering if he should go out and shoot them, each one with a bullet.
He didn't necessarily want to kill them, but at least injure them so badly that they'd suffer in the bitter cold apocalypse.
But after thinking for a moment, he decided against it.
Why?
Because the three of them outside were like rabid dogs!
Even if he went out and shot them, there was a good chance they would be hurt. But there was also a tiny chance that they could kill him.
Risking his life for these people? Zhang Yi definitely wasn't going to do that!
That's right, he was the king of survival!
His life was too comfortable to throw away on a whim.
"It's okay," he said calmly to himself, "I'll just wait them out. Let's see how long they can survive in this frozen apocalypse."
Zhang Yi relaxed on the couch and went back to playing his game.
Meanwhile, Zhou Peng, Fang Yuqing, and the others ran back home, their bodies trembling uncontrollably.
Zhou Peng was still in shock, shaking from the near-death experience.
Fang Yuqing, seeing the urine stains on the sofa, screamed immediately.
"Ahh!! Get off! Who told you to sit on my sofa?!"
