"Hey, say something…" Jaden said, his voice low as his hands trembled against the phone. He removed the phone from his ear and saw that the call had been disconnected.
Caius asked, his tone urging, "What did he say?"
Jaden looked at him, his eyes seemingly lost in another dimension, as he was caught in a whirlpool of thoughts. "He didn't say anything."
"You should call him again, maybe he didn't know that he had picked it up," Caius urged.
"Then why did he disconnect it?" Jaden asked, his breath hitching as he fumbled with his fingers.
"Probably he did that by mistake," Caius said again, comforting Jaden.
"Let me try his line again," Jaden mumbled, and hastily, he pressed the phone and dialed Kaelith's number again, but this time, the call didn't go through. Rather, a recorded telephone voice sounded, "Sorry, your call couldn't be connected."
Jaden looked at Caius as he removed the phone from his ear. "Did he also mistakenly switch his phone off?"
