Chapter 287: Poseidon's Old Habits Die Hard
When Ye Wen woke up the next morning, he felt an overwhelming lightness and relaxation throughout his entire body. The sensation was so refreshing that it took him a moment to fully reorient himself. He sat up, glancing lovingly at Bibi Dong beside him, though a sense of guilt quickly surfaced.
Last night's strange experience suddenly made perfect sense. After assessing the state of his soul, he realized it was perfectly healed, even stronger than before. He muttered under his breath, "Damn you, Poseidon! Now I get why Qian Qian never returned. So, you still have those bad habits."
Meanwhile, in the Divine Realm, Poseidon grinned smugly, quite pleased with himself. "Of course I knew that Asura wouldn't go down without playing some trick. My preparations worked perfectly. Let Asura scheme all he wants I'm one step ahead," Poseidon thought, feeling triumphant.
Beside him, Bibi Dong stirred awake, blinking at Ye Wen with sleepy eyes. "You're up early. You need rest for your injuries. Let me handle things today," she said, concerned, as she attempted to coax him back to bed. But as she looked closer, she noticed he no longer had the slightest trace of weakness and was instantly alert.
"What? How…?" she asked, astonished.
Ye Wen struggled to find a response, aware that evading the truth would only make Bibi Dong more suspicious. Sensing his evasiveness, Bibi Dong's gaze turned sharp. She climbed over him, pressing him down firmly, and began sniffing him with that delicate nose of hers.
"Dong'er… what are you doing?" Ye Wen asked, embarrassed and at a loss. Despite years of marriage, he was uncharacteristically shy under her scrutiny.
Still perched on his waist, Bibi Dong's expression shifted, a sly gleam in her eye. "I can sense a trace of light divine energy on you. Care to explain what you were up to last night, dear? This sort of healing isn't something any ordinary god could accomplish, and it's from a goddess."
Ye Wen was startled. "Since when could she smell divine energy?" He searched for an explanation, but his attempt was cut short.
"Not going to tell me?" Bibi Dong's smile turned playful yet dangerous.
"Wait, Dong'er! What are you " Ye Wen tried to reason, but was quickly overwhelmed as Bibi Dong launched an aggressive assault, draining him relentlessly. After several rounds, Ye Wen was left utterly spent.
"Dong'er… I'm completely… out. I need to save my divine power to heal," he gasped, barely able to speak.
Bibi Dong stopped her onslaught, though she held him close, softening her tone. "Ready to explain now?"
Ye Wen sighed, feeling both grateful and helpless. He had only ever wanted a simple, loving relationship, but this situation was anything but simple. He was finally about to speak when he saw the hint of amusement in her eyes.
"Tell me when you're ready, Ye Wen. And when that day comes, make sure to bring her along to meet me and Ah Yin," she said gently.
"Dong'er…" Ye Wen was deeply moved by her understanding, though the thought of introducing everyone left him with a sinking feeling. He silently cursed Poseidon.
"You're all my family. I could never forget you," he assured her, holding her close. "It's just… this person is a bit special. Let me find a way to explain things properly."
Bibi Dong smiled at his warmth, though she grew playful again. "I don't mind you bringing someone new home. Just remember not to neglect us."
That mischievous glint returned to her eyes, and before Ye Wen could protest, they were once again caught up in a passionate exchange.
With the HaoTian Sect and the Xingluo Empire both defeated, there were no longer any threats to the Sacred Soul Empire. Their new policies were implemented smoothly, and even commoners wept with gratitude for the peace and security brought by the empire.
While Bibi Dong, the Sacred Soul Empire's official empress, gained the most public acclaim, Ye Wen's influence extended more subtly as he quietly bolstered the empire from the shadows. Leaving matters in capable hands, Ye Wen traveled to the worship hall of Spirit Hall, where two beautiful figures stood before him, heads lowered like children who had been scolded.
Ye Wen sighed, any words of reproach dissolving in his mind. Struggling to keep his tone calm, he asked softly, "Qian Qian, will you be my fourth wife?"
Qian Qian looked up in astonishment, her cheeks flushed as she stared at him, too moved to respond. Ye Wen stepped forward, gently embracing her.
"Forgive me, Qian Qian. I must be incredibly dense. I lived with you all these years without seeing your feelings, and it took Poseidon's interference to make it clear. Can you forgive me?"
