Chapter 35 - Chapter 35- Staying Behind

"Eileen?"

"Yeah. The communicator woke me up early in the morning, seriously." Judith complained.

"Why couldn't she wait until I got back to tell me?"

Judith said, "She wants to know if you'd like to stay at the Clover Branch?"

"Hmm?" Leewei found it odd. "Stay at the Clover Branch? What do you mean?"

Judith said, "It means exactly what it says. I actually think it's quite good, going back to Block 17, there is no suitable commission for you to make use of your abilities, it's just too barren and backward there, you won't get any advancement there."

Judith is right, that's the reality. What decent commissions and opponents can Block 17 have? What kind of honing and advancement can there be?

On the contrary, the Clover District is located in the upper district, and it's a very famous place. The name of the Clover Branch is well-known throughout the entire demon hunter community.

If possible, many people would want to join the Clover Branch.

But that doesn't mean one can join just because they want to; there are many restrictive clauses here, the most important of which are two things: First, hunters not registered with local guilds do not enjoy the hunter welfare provided by local guilds, such as enjoying official medical services from the branch or enjoying discounts at official stores of the Hunter's Guild.

Secondly, a considerable proportion of commissions have restrictions when hunters undertake them. Li Wei has seen on the commission bulletin board in the Four-Leaf Clover branch lobby that some commissions are marked with the word "local," and non-local hunters registered with the hunter's guild cannot take these commissions.

These restricted commissions account for more than half of the total number, and most of them are lucrative ones. Public commissions are mostly those that are labor-intensive and have average rewards.

These two points have cut off the path for many hunters who want to work at other branches.

Of course, there are ways to bypass these restrictions, the most important of which is to change the registered guild.

This is usually not difficult, for example, if a hunter wants to transfer to Block 17, then Eileen would readily agree.

However, if one wishes to transfer to a popular location like the Clover Branch, it's an incredibly difficult endeavor. One either needs connections in the high ranks of the guild, or they need to establish connections; otherwise, under normal circumstances, it's virtually impossible to get in.

Of course, anyone with the strength of a Dominant Power or a high level of development like Judith, who is a seasoned and powerful Evolver, will be welcomed with open arms by any branch.

Nevertheless, there are very few people like that.

These situations reminded Li Wei of the household registration system from his previous life, which was equally frustrating.

The profession of a hunter doesn't differ much in terms of class solidification compared to ordinary people.

Apparently, the profession of being a hunter seems very fair, with everything depending on one's strength and the strong being respected. However, in reality, the disparities in backgrounds and resources have almost predetermined that it is difficult for the children of poor families to become successful.

To have great strength, three elements are indispensable: talent, resources, and effort. However, children from poor families find it difficult to match these three aspects with rich people or the next generation of elite hunters.

Their parents are wealthy or high-level hunters, and the education they receive from a young age differs from that of children from impoverished families. They may have already been learning how to harness immense power and better develop their potential from the day they began to understand the world. They have access to top-notch educational resources, and can freely use gene fluid injections.

And what about the children from poor families? They are still worried about what to eat for their next meal, and saving up for a year might not even be enough to afford a single D-ranked gene fluid injection.

The disparity is just too vast.

Without even mentioning the gap between the wealthy and the poor, let's talk about their origins. It's extremely difficult for hunters from the lower districts to make a name for themselves. The number of new commissions received by the Four-Leaf Clover branch in a day may not be achieved by the Seventeenth Street district in a year. The abundance of high-quality commissions and concentrated resources make the Four-Leaf Clover branch highly attractive, and the hunters there can also grow in strength very quickly.

When asked if Li Wei wants to stay at the Four-Leaf Clover branch, he naturally does. However, how can he stay?

"Don't worry about these things." After hearing Li Wei's concerns, Judith said, "If you want to stay here for a while, Eileen and I will write a joint commission training recommendation letter to Minister Mars, allowing you to enjoy the same treatment as local hunters."

Having someone above to support is great. However, he still has one question: "But, the headquarters training is not until three months later, right? What about then...?"

The training quota at the headquarters belongs to the 17th District branch. Li Wei worries that if he transfers to the Clover branch, will it have any impact on this?

Judith said, "Don't worry about these. The letter of introduction transfer is a special system that will only temporarily allow you to enjoy the local hunter treatment of Clover for three months, and it will not directly change the registration place, nor will it affect your matter of training at the headquarters."

"Okay, I have no more questions."

Good fortune from heaven, what else is there for Li Wei to be dissatisfied with?

Judith showed a smile and said, "That's great. Erin has done a big favor this time to fight for this opportunity for you. You must perform well and don't let her down."

"Okay, I will definitely live up to it." Li Wei said this way. He really needed to thank Erin. From the beginning of his rebirth to now, that woman had helped him too much, and he felt somewhat confused about how to repay her.

Apart from this, Li Wei still has a delicate doubt—Why was Eileen being so nice to him?

While it's great to have things fall from the sky like icing on a cake, they could also be lethal.

Of course, his private relationship with Eileen was decent; however, it doesn't show the extent to which she helps him. Li Wei doesn't believe he's charming enough to the point of such help. Being a person living in two lives, he should not remain naive and harmless.

Thinking about it, what can she gain from him, who is neither a foreign relative nor an acquaintance?

Maybe Li Wei was a bit overly suspicious, but it was better to be cautious in such matters. It's not advisable to have harmful intentions, yet preemptive caution is necessary.

However, for now, Li Wei could set aside the doubt as he really needed Eileen's assistance. He didn't need to worry about Eileen's thoughts at the moment; as a poor lonely young man, there was nothing for Eileen to covet.

First, do your own things, Li Wei thought. No matter what, becoming stronger oneself is the most fundamental weapon to deal with all difficulties.

Looking at the gene liquids and flesh cores just taken out from the warehouse of the Four-Leaf Clover branch, as well as the carving bullet manufacturing technology, and then looking at the various commission tasks in the Four-Leaf Clover hall, Li Wei feels that he will probably be quite fulfilled for a while.
