Chapter 12 - Chapter 12- Plundering

Entering Zhang Xi's residence, Li Wei quickly scoured through the entire house.

The situation was a bit strange.

He had thought that he would have a decent income, but the reality was that he only found a pile of small change. Over two hundred crystal notes, which was merely the weekly salary of an ordinary worker. It wasn't very little, but compared to Zhang Xi's status, it was somewhat unimpressive.

It's unusual for a gang leader to have such limited assets. Moreover, vampires who have always styled themselves as nobles are a group of collectors. They are keen on collecting items such as antiques and famous paintings. These things may seem good for nothing but occupying space in ordinary poor households, but they are very popular as art pieces in the high-end areas.

That could fetch a considerable amount of money.

Li Wei did not expect to find anything too precious in Zhang Xi's place, but a mere two hundred and some crystal notes was something even Li Wei, who was poor as dirt, would not have his eyes on.

Unwilling to accept it, he searched the room for a while and finally found something valuable.

  That's a secret door.

With the keys taken from Zhang Xi's body, after trying a few, he quickly opened the secret door.

As soon as the door opened, a sealed small space appeared in front of Li Wei.

This looks like an ordinary storage room in a family household, and is still the smaller type. A few small copper boxes were scattered at the edge of the storage room, one of which was hit open, revealing the white crystals the size of fingernails inside.

However, these are not the focus. In the middle of the storage room, the girl tied up with ropes completely attracted his attention.

She looks like a girl who is only about thirteen or fourteen years old. Her facial features look very delicate, but the dirty stains on her face and some scratches and wounds greatly destroyed her beauty.

Li Wei does not have a pedophile tendency, and a little girl who is thirteen or fourteen years old, of course, cannot attract his interest. However, this girl just looks so familiar to him.

Stirring the memories in his mind, he remembered.

  "Yasha?"

Hearing Li Wei's voice, the girl called Yasha stirred a bit and made a sobbing noise. Her eyes were covered with black cloth, and a piece of cloth was stuffed into her mouth, so she couldn't see or speak.

But obviously, she still had some memory of Li Wei's voice.

Li Wei stepped forward and took out the white cloth blocking her mouth.

The young girl coughed twice and said, "Li Wei? Is that you?"

"Mm-hmm," he responded, while helping the young girl remove the black cloth covering her eyes.

After adjusting to the light, Yasha said, "My sincere gratitude to you, this is already the second time you've saved me."

  Li Wei remained silent.

This young lady is precisely the reason why Li Wei's predecessor was targeted by the Skeleton Gang. It was the "former" Li Wei who rescued Yasha, thus offending the Skeleton Gang and ultimately being beaten to death in an alley by them.

In that case, Li Wei's transmigration and rebirth seem to have an inextricable connection with this young girl.

However, despite their apparent fates being intertwined, Li Wei holds no particular interest in this young lady.

The two were not close at all. Had it not been for the need to retrieve some money from Zhang Xi's residence, he wouldn't even have thought about this young girl.

Judging from this, it appears that after inadvertently saving her last time, she has been captured by the Skeleton Gang again. Considering the environment of this storage room, it's likely that the girl has been brought here within the last two or three days.

With a swing of his blade, severing the ropes binding Yasha's hands and feet, Li Wei said, "Alright, you're free now."

Yasha stood up, a bit unsteady on her feet. She picked up a rope from the ground, tied her hair back, and her entire appearance became valiant and handsome.

She looked at Li Wei, her beautiful eyebrows slightly furrowed, and said, "That vampire will be back soon! Let's hurry and leave!"

Li Wei looked with interest at the girl, whose legs seemed somewhat impaired from long-term confinement, and said, "How do you know that Zhang Xi is a vampire?"

Yasha extended her left hand, lifted her somewhat tattered sleeve, revealing several tooth marks.

Those were the marks left by a vampire's bite.

This made things even stranger. No matter how he looked at it, the girl seemed like an ordinary person. Having been bitten by a vampire, not just once but multiple times, how was she still alive?

Furthermore, expanding one's thinking a bit. A month or two ago, the naive predecessor thought that Yashas's kidnapping by the Skeleton Gang was a case of human trafficking. But now, Li Wei won't think that way.

Based on what I've seen now, and the information obtained from that guy named Hu Wei, whom I killed earlier, I feel that this young girl named Yashas probably has a complicated identity.

If she were an ordinary girl, would Zhang Xi bother to go to great lengths to capture her? Admittedly, according to rumors, vampires really enjoy sucking the blood of young girls, which is considered the ultimate delicacy in their eyes. However, with so many young girls in the world, what's the point of clinging to just one?

Moreover, if vampires really wanted to feast on blood, this girl probably wouldn't have survived at all.

She had been bitten by the vampire, yet remained alive, and had no apparent special qualities. Thus, the only conclusion that Li Wei could arrive at was that Zhang Xi never intended to kill her in the first place. The two sips were purely for quenching his craving, not to actually eat her.

Furthermore, this is a case of kidnapping, and Yashu's identity is far more valuable than her worth as a food source. Otherwise, it wouldn't explain why the vampire was able to restrain his appetite.

Of course, this is ultimately just Li Wei's speculation. No matter what the truth is, he does not plan to delve any deeper into this matter.

So he said, "I've already taken care of that vampire."

With suspicion, Yashu replied, "You say you killed the vampire? That was a genuine vampire nobleman, not just a blood servant! You're a bounty hunter, but haven't even completed the ultimate trials. How on Earth did you manage that?"

Has this young girl knows a bit too much, hasn't she?

Li Wei squinted, feeling even more convinced that this girl's identity was anything but simple. An ordinary civilian girl, how could she judge the vampire's rank? How could she judge the hunter's strength level?

He sensed vaguely that if he continued to entangle himself, he might get into some kind of trouble. So he said outright: "I don't want to know who you are, and I don't owe you anything. You wait here, I reckon the police will come soon, and you can ask them for help, as long as you don't betray me."

As he spoke, he went forward and collected those boxes in the storage room, completely ignoring the girl beside. He expressed his attitude in this way: saving you is a total accident, we owe nothing to each other, we don't know each other, and it's finished.

Yasha was obviously not a person who would pester and be unreasonable, she wanted to speak but stopped, and in the end, said nothing.

The girl's attitude allowed Li Wei to breathe a sigh of relief. He was really afraid of encountering someone who would pester him endlessly.
