After listening to Steve's story, Ace couldn't help but smile.
In fact, Ace found it quite strange. Ikki was obviously powerful, yet somehow struggled so much when learning Haki!
Ace remembered that after he entered the New World and first encountered Haki, he had learned it rather quickly!
After Steve finished explaining what happened, Ikki and Kakashi flew back to the Thousand Sunny.
"Steve, your strength has grown considerably, but you still need to keep working hard!" Ikki said as he patted Steve on the shoulder.
Kakashi, who had been observing everything, couldn't help but shake his head. If one looked carefully, a faint glow appeared around Kakashi's fingers.
That's right... Kakashi had actually learned Haki, but as a ninja, he understood the importance of keeping information secret, so he hadn't revealed it.
"Who's this? Isn't this Smoker?" Ikki greeted Smoker with unusual familiarity.
Smoker, however, was speechless and thought to himself, "Who is this guy? Why is he acting like we know each other?"
"Ikki, where are Luffy and the others? Why are only you three back?" Ace asked curiously.
"Oh! They're still exploring the island. As for me? I already know the truth about this place, so I came back to get you to help me capture a mastermind hiding on the island."
"A mastermind? Who are you talking about? Is anyone even living on this island?"
As he spoke, Ace looked at the island that was divided between ice and fire. An environment like this was obviously not suitable for human habitation...
Smoker heard Ikki's words and wanted to ask what secrets this island could possibly hold, or who this mastermind might be.
But what Ikki said next made Smoker's interest peak.
"This island is currently being used as an experimental base. The person in charge is Caesar Clown, a former scientist for the World Government."
"Caesar is working with the Shichibukai Donquixote Doflamingo on developing artificial Devil Fruits."
"Besides Caesar, there are two of Doflamingo's officers on this island – Monet and Vergo."
"Additionally, the Shichibukai Trafalgar Law is also here."
"Wait..." Smoker exclaimed excitedly upon hearing Vergo's name. "Isn't this Vergo you're talking about the base commander of our G5 branch, Vice Admiral Vergo?"
"That's right! He's actually a spy placed within the Marines by the Donquixote Family!"
Upon hearing this, Smoker immediately tensed up and said, "Kid, do you understand the consequences of falsely accusing a Marine Vice Admiral?"
Smoker had only recently arrived at G5, but he knew very well how much the Marine soldiers in the branch respected Vergo.
If he told those men that Vergo, whom they admired, was actually a pirate... it would completely shatter their faith.
Ikki shrugged and replied, "If you want proof, come with us to the island and you'll see for yourself!"
Smoker didn't refuse Ikki's proposal, not only because of Vergo but also because he remembered who Caesar Clown was – a deranged scientist wanted by the World Government with a bounty of 300 million berries!
And so, Smoker joined Ikki's team.
The reason Ikki deliberately brought Smoker along was because the Straw Hat Pirates couldn't handle all the issues on the island by themselves.
There were many children on the island being used as experimental subjects, and these children would need to be returned home by the Marines.
After explaining the situation to Nami, Ikki took Ace and Smoker and flew toward the research facility on Punk Hazard.
When the three reached the snowy winter side of the island, they happened to see Luffy and the others surrounded by enemies.
Just as Ace was about to go down to help, Ikki stopped him.
"No need. Let's go after the mastermind behind all this! These small fry can't do anything to Luffy and the others."
Hearing this, Ace looked at the seemingly dire battle situation below, then nodded.
Soon, the three of them arrived at the entrance to the research facility.
As soon as they reached the door, they were confronted by a familiar face.
The person who stopped them was none other than Trafalgar Law, one of the current Seven Warlords of the Sea.
Law had originally planned to intercept Luffy's group. Although he hadn't interacted with Luffy for long, he was well aware of the Straw Hat Pirates' ability to cause chaos.
Law had his own plan, and Luffy was an unknown variable... In order to prevent his plan from being derailed, he needed to contain Luffy first.
But now something unexpected and strange had happened.
The supposedly dead Fire Fist Ace, Marine Vice Admiral Smoker, and a mysterious young man had arrived here first.
Before Law could speak, Ikki's voice reached his ears: "Law, cooperate with us and we'll help you kill Doflamingo!"
Ikki knew this place was being monitored by Vergo, Caesar, and Monet, and that Law's heart was in their possession, so he used his ability to direct the sound only to Law's ears.
Law remained silent.
"I'm telling you, your plan has no chance against Doflamingo! You still don't know his true identity, do you? He was once a Celestial Dragon."
Law remained silent.
"I know you want to avenge Corazon, but I don't want you to die!"
Law remained silent.
"Instead of being so reckless, you'd be better off seeking help from Corazon's foster father, Fleet Admiral Sengoku!"
Law remained silent.
"Hey! Say something!"
Law remained silent.
'At least give me a chance to speak!' Law thought to himself.
At this point, Law was shocked by the information Ikki had shared.
If Doflamingo truly was a former Celestial Dragon... then all his plans would be futile!
What worried Law most was how this stranger knew about his plan, and why he knew that Law's vendetta against Doflamingo was because of Corazon.
Furthermore, he even knew that Corazon was the adopted son of Fleet Admiral Sengoku...
"Who exactly are you?" Law finally asked.
"My name is Ikki!" Ikki smiled. He hadn't expected that revealing future information would be so satisfying. However, Law's ability to control his expressions was impressive. Despite hearing such shocking revelations, ill he stmaintained his poker face.
Thinking about how Law would eventually become a long-term ally of the Straw Hat Pirates, Ikki couldn't help but sigh – a cold and handsome guy was about to lose his cool!
Law knew he was still under surveillance, so he couldn't speak too freely without risking exposure. After all, his life was literally in someone else's hands.
At that moment, Ikki's voice reached his ears again.
"Speak in the faintest whisper, I can hear you."
"Fine," Law whispered, "Who are you and how do you know about me?"
"Haha... Don't worry about it. Ace and I will leave momentarily to retrieve your heart. We'll leave Smoker with you as an explanation for Vergo! Beat him as hard as you want, just don't kill him!"
If Smoker had heard what Ikki said, he would definitely have called him "shameless."
