Chapter 28 - 28: Losing Control

Sloan

After those words left his mouth, rage engulfed me and a loud ringing sound took place in my ear. I didn't realize when I moved or what happened next, but when the haze cleared from my eyes a little, I had my father pinned against the nearest piller, my hand tightly gripping his throat. I was also letting out low growls.

Hos dare he threaten to hurt the boy? To kill my human? I'd kill him before he does that!

My father was glaring at me, his teeth gritted. He didn't look panicked, he looked enraged, the veins in his forehead throbbing with how angry he clearly is. His eyes were glowing red, a sign of his beast coming to the surface, and I knew my eyes were also glowing right now.

"Let go of me right now." He bit out angrily but I only tightened my hold on his throat.

"You'll not kill the boy. You'll not harm him. Ever." I bit out, anger flaring through every inch of my insides.

At the back of my mind, I registered sparks flaring through my body, and I realized that my father had a taser pushed against the back of my throat.

He usually carried this special brand of taser on him in order to keep me in line and remind me to never step out of line with him. The last time he used it on me was years ago, and I had writhed on the ground till the shocks stopped. However right now, I couldn't even feel the effects of the shocks, too enraged to be affected by it.

I still had my hand tight around my father's throat. It wouldn't be easy to kill him, he was very powerful in his human and beast form, but I was stronger than him, and I needed him to be reminded of that. I might still be under his roof, but it's only because I'm being blackmailed to do that. If not, I'd have moved far away from here a long time ago.

"Let go of your father, Sloan." My grand father's soft voice pierced through the haze of anger around my brain as a warm hand settled on my shoulder. I instantly tensed because again, I hated being touched.

I wanted to refuse, but I reluctantly loosened my hold around my father's throat. Almost immediately, he roughly shoved at my chest and I stumbled backward while my father breathed in deeply, face in a mask of rage as he turned around to point a hand at me.

"How dare you put your hand on me? Your own father? Have you forgotten that I still have control over you?" He yelled while breathing hard.

I turned away and dragged a hand through my hair.

"You're forcing me to remain here, remember?" I bit out, still beyond angry as I turned back to face him.

My father was breathing hard as I began to pace around.

"You have to stay here. You can't leave, because of your duty to the throne." He yelled once again and I was consumed with the urge to strangle him again.

"Fuck you, your duties and your throne. I don't even want the fucking throne." I bit out again.

Life didn't used to be like this before. I used to have a mother and a little sister. But one disaster ruined everything. Then my father began to use them to threaten me till this very moment.

Leave this palace and I'd kill them. outrightly disobey me and they'd suffer.

That's the only reason I'm still here.

My father wanted to say something else when my grandfather stopped him, then my grandfather was coming to stand before me.

"Did you take your tea today, Sloan?" He asked quietly and I paused, letting my mind travel through all that happened today and I realized that I really didn't take my dosage of the herbal tea.

"You didn't take it, did you?" He continued softly and I gave a tense nod.

He led me to one of the chairs and I reluctantly sank into it.

"You know you're never supposed to skip it. You're to drink the tea every day." He gently admonished and I tensely nodded. I had planned to take the tea after confirming that lilac was alright, but I managed to forget along the line.

"I'll have the tea get prepared and brought to you." He continued, already calling on a guard and relaying the order. I want to retire to my bedroom and have the tea brought to me there but be insisted I waited till it arrived.

As I waited, the air was tense, my grandfather sat beside me, while my father paced around, filled with anger as he resumed speaking.

"A menace and a threat to the society. A literal freak. Someone like you should be grateful that I'm willing to let you take over the throne after me, but no. You're rude, mannerless and so… arrogant." He kept on going and going and I had to tune him out.

After my tea got brought, I downed the normal dosage after it was deemed poison-less. As soon as I drank the tea, I instantly began to feel better. Most of the rage I was feeling drained out of me and my head instantly began to pound.

I massaged my forehead and let out a sigh as I rose to my feet.

"Won't you apologize at least? For the stupid stunt you pulled?" My father yelled but I ignored him as I walked out of the dining room after biding my grandfather a good night.

If my father was tired of me, all he had to do was to let me leave. Till then, he'd have to suffer keeping me here against my own will.

~~~
When I arrived in my room, I was hit right in the face with lilac's scent, however, a stronger and thicker version. It clung to the air and filled up my lungs, knocking the air right out of my lungs. I let out a sharp breath, my sight sharpening as it zeroed in on my bed, where lilac was asleep when I left for dinner with my father and grandfather.
However this time, he wasn't unconscious anymore. He was awake and currently gasping and writhing in the bed.
I approached the bed, wondering if something was wrong with him, but I instantly came to a standstill as a different scent hit me.
Arousal.
Intense. Thick. Cloyingly heady and delicious.
Fuck. The breath in my lungs rushed out on a sharp exhale and this time, as my eyes zeroed in on the lumped form in my bed, I realized that he was struggling to get out of his clothes while gasping and arching off the bed.
I blinked a few times but the image still didn't change.
What the fuck…?
Was this a side effect of the poison?
I closed the rest of the distance till I stood by the bed, and as I stared down at lilac, a breathless word fell past his lips.
"Please."
