Chapter 4 - chapter 4

Liam opened the [Dialogue] box and directed his character toward Good Hunter, curious if the cooking mechanic still worked.

Why not just buy food from Sara?

But he was mora-less, and more importantly, he wanted to test whether he could cook something and bring it out of the system to eat. If it worked, he could finally fill his empty stomach—and then, with a full belly, try his luck on that banner.

[You have arrived at the cooking station of Good Hunter.]

[Cooking] [Leave]

Liam selected [Cooking].

A familiar interface appeared, displaying a dense list of recipes—from 1-star to 5-star dishes, even including limited-time event recipes.

Wait… are these the recipes I collected before?

If so, why was only his recipe collection carried over?

Where are my 5-star weapons?! My characters?! And most importantly—my 20k Primogems!

Gritting his teeth, he wiped away a nonexistent tear. What a black-hearted system.

Most recipes were grayed out due to missing ingredients, leaving only one available

[Recipe: Teyvat Fried Egg]

★☆☆☆☆

Effect: Revives the selected character, restoring 50–150 HP.

Ingredient: Bird Egg ×1

Teyvat Fried Egg—the most basic newbie food. Weak healing, but at least the ingredients are easy to find.

But a thought struck him If I can bring this out, can others use it too?

In the game, you just click the food to revive a character, but in reality… how would a dead person eat?

He shook his head. Probably only I can use the revive effect.

Clicking the [Make] button in the lower-right corner, Liam confirmed the action. The screen transitioned to a cartoonish cooking pot with a bird egg inside, accompanied by the word

[Cooking...]

A yellow progress bar appeared in the middle of the cooking screen, with a Proficiency 0/5 symbol displayed above it.

Just like in the game... Only when the arrow lands in the yellow zone can you cook a Normal or Delicious dish. After five perfect cooks, you can mass-produce perfect dishes instantly.

Liam sighed. Even though I'd mastered most recipes before, my proficiency's reset to zero...

On the left side of the cooking pot, the required ingredient—Bird Egg ×1—was listed. The right side allowed him to select a cooking character.

In Genshin, different characters have unique cooking effects and signature dishes. Using specific ones can even yield special dishes with better buffs...

Curious, Liam tapped the character selection.

But when the menu opened, only one portrait appeared—his own.

A lonely image of himself stared back.

...Guess I'm the only "character" I've got.

Liam selected himself as the cooking character. Apparently, he had a special cooking effect

[Liam]

When cooking normally or perfectly, there's an 11% chance to create a "Special Suspicious" dish.

His eyebrow twitched. Is this damn system looking down on me? Are you mocking my cooking skills? I'm good at this! At least I'm better than Raiden Ei!

Shaking off the insult, he focused on the cooking minigame. The arrow began moving slowly toward the yellow zone.

In fact You just need to click when the arrow's about to enter the yellow area. It'll slide in perfectly on its own.

Why was Liam so familiar with this? Because he'd done it countless times before... definitely not because he was resinless and bored enough to cook manually instead of using auto-cook. Ahem.

As the arrow neared the yellow zone, he tapped to finish. Instantly, two dishes appeared from the pot - one perfectly golden Teyvat Fried Egg (Delicious) and... something else.

The second dish was a grotesque, purple-globby mess that resembled less a slime and more like... congealed snot.

[Special Suspicious Teyvat Fried Egg]

★☆☆☆☆

Ingredient: Bird Egg x1

Description: A dish cooked with one's entire willpower. Is this food or nasal discharge?

Effect: Did my ancestors just wave at me from the afterlife?

Liam stared at horrified dished in silence.

Damn... I didn't know I was this bad! No wait - it's not me! The system nerfed my skills! I'm actually too good, so it had to handicap me! Yeah, that's definitely it.

He nodded firmly, clinging to this more flattering explanation.

A few moments later, Liam had finished cooking the remaining eggs. His inventory now showed

[Food]

[Delicious Teyvat Fried Egg] x8

★☆☆☆☆

An egg fried on one side. With a taste of the summer sun, it invigorates you from the first bite.

Effect: Revives a character and restores 150 HP.

[Special Suspicious Teyvat Fried Egg] x6

★☆☆☆☆

A dish cooked with one's entire willpower. Is this food or nasal discharge?

Effect: Did my ancestors just wave at me from the afterlife?

Six out of eight eggs turned out suspicious... Liam groaned. I know I need good luck for gacha, but not this kind of luck! This system is definitely mocking me!

Still, the numbers didn't lie—an 11% chance, and he'd hit it six times. At least my luck is strong... just in the worst possible way. Please don't let this drain my gacha luck. I'm not asking for much—just one decent 4-star character...

Closing the cooking interface, Liam opened his [Inventory] and selected the option to take out the fried eggs. He clicked once as a test.

[Food]

-Delicious Teyvat Fried Egg x7

-Special Suspicious Teyvat Fried Egg x6

The count decreased by one. Almost instantly, a rich, savory aroma filled the air. Liam closed the system to find a perfectly cooked fried egg on a plate in his hand—golden whites cradling a glistening, runny yolk.

Slurp— He barely stopped himself from drooling. The egg looked and smelled incredible.

Unable to resist, he took a bite.

"Ah—"

The moment his teeth pierced the yolk, it burst in his mouth—creamy, rich, and perfectly seasoned. If only I had some garlic bread to go with this...

In just one bite, the egg was gone. Then, to his surprise, the plate dissolved into glowing particles.

Huh. I thought the plate would stay...

He stared at his now-empty hand, mildly disappointed.

Seven more to go... hehehe.

Liam happily devoured several more Teyvat Fried Eggs before settling down with a sunsettia in hand. The oddly-shaped fruit was perfect for cleansing his palate.

Crunch—

The fruit burst with sweet, juicy flavor. Slurp—

Between bites, he absentmindedly opened the [Wish] panel.

[Current Banner - Daleth]

[Probability of obtaining 5-star Cryo Hypostasis increased.]

[Guaranteed 4-star or above for 10-draw. Limited event character. See [Details] for more.]

The banner artwork loomed before him—a massive Cryo Hypostasis cube at the center, flanked by three 4-star rate-up characters:

-Fatui Skirmisher - Cryogunner Legionnaire

-Frostarm Lawachurl

-Ruin Grader

His eyes locked onto the [Free Pull] button at the bottom.

This is it.

Liam clapped his hands together and began praying fervently.

Oh Mihoyo, I'm your golden child, right? I even play both CN and global versions! Please, please bless me with good luck!!!!

With a deep breath, he clicked the button and squeezed his eyes shut.

A familiar whoosh sound filled his ears as—

[A meteor streaked across the sky...]

Just a peek— He cracked one eye open.

[Purple light flashed as it slowly descended...]

PURPLE! IT'S PURPLE!

Liam's heart raced. I knew it! I AM Mihoyo's favorite! European blood runs through my veins! HAHAHAHA!

[Obtained 4★ Character - Frostarm Lawachurl]

The card revealed a hulking beast—white fur matted with icy crystals, massive arms pulsing with Cryo energy, and jagged ice spikes jutting from its back like frozen spears. Tribal markings glowed faintly across its stone-like body, radiating an aura of primal cold.

[New character added to [Character] list. Edit your party by clicking portraits. Current team: 1/4 slots filled.]

Frostarm Lawachurl

A mysterious "king" that roams blizzard storms

This colossal hilichurl, known among its kind as a Lawachurl, has undergone a terrifying mutation from prolonged exposure to concentrated Cryo energy. Its massive frame crackles with elemental power, with jagged Cryo crystals jutting from fissures in its stone-like hide. The overwhelming elemental energy within has transformed it into something far more dangerous than its Mitachurl cousins - bigger, stronger, and radiating primal fury.

Liam hurriedly checked the [Character] section to examine his new acquisition

[Frostarm Lawachurl]

The Talent section revealed an impressive moveset

Hehehe...

Liam let out a slightly creepy chuckle as he examined his new character.

When he clicked [Details], a series of skill animations took over nearly the entire screen. After watching the Frostarm Lawachurl's brutal moveset unfold, all he could say was

"Good guy."

Compared to his own stats, this new character was significantly tankier. Sorry Mihoyo, I thought this was a bad pull at first, but it's actually amazing in its own way.

With a satisfied nod, Liam selected the [Frostarm Lawachurl] and added it to his team.

The character selection screen no longer looked lonely. The top-right corner now displayed

[Character]

Liam (Traveler)

Frostarm Lawachurl

Empty

Empty

Liam reopened the Frostarm Lawachurl's skill section, carefully rereading the descriptions.

Hiss... Even at level 1, these damage percentages look terrifying. This thing could probably wipe out entire groups of enemies!

His excitement grew as he wondered So how do I transform into it?

Frustratingly, he couldn't find any transformation option. Rubbing his head in confusion, he exited the system.

Maybe I can change by thinking about it?

Just as he was about to try, a sobering realization hit him.

Wait—I'm still on top of this tall wall! If I suddenly turn into a massive Frostarm Lawachurl here, I'll stick out like a sore thumb with that bright blue-and-white body. Those adventurers below will spot me instantly!

The last thing he needed was to become a wanted criminal on his first day.

Making a quick decision, Liam hurried down from the wall, heading toward the cover of nearby trees where his potential transformation would be less noticeable.

Reaching the ground, Liam closed his eyes and focused on transforming into the Frostarm Lawachurl. A strange energy began coursing through his body, followed by an unexpected but pleasant chill spreading across his skin.

When he opened his eyes, the forest before him looked completely different - because he was now seeing it from nearly three meters up.

Huh... A bit shorter than I imagined. Maybe because it's still low level? Will it grow bigger when ascended?

Even at this size, the difference was staggering compared to his normal height. Liam flexed his new massive arms, thick with muscle and covered in coarse white fur that shimmered with frost. Jagged ice crystals protruded from his elbows and shoulders, crackling with Cryo energy.

A giddy excitement surged through him.

I'm actually a monster now! And not just any monster - a freaking Lawachurl!

He experimentally slammed one fist into his palm, creating a small shockwave of cold air that made nearby leaves shudder. The raw power was intoxicating.
