Chapter 61 - Chapter 61 Furious

Berloff Reed returned to No. 11 Bund, feeling completely bewildered.

He lay down on the spacious and comfortable sofa in Building No. 1, staring blankly for a moment before taking out his phone to call his mother.

He chuckled to himself.

Finally owning a mansion in Silk City, he definitely wanted to share the good news with his parents and invite them to come and enjoy it.

"Mom! I just bought a mansion in Silk City. When can you and Dad come visit?"Mrs. Nadine sounded skeptical. "What? You bought a mansion in Silk City? Are you running a fever?"

Everyone in Orchid Empire knew that Silk City's real estate prices were insanely high.

Even ordinary apartments in the city could cost over a hundred thousand per square foot, which was ridiculously expensive.

Especially those old residential buildings in the city center, which looked shabby but often cost millions per unit, with prices that could scare anyone.

As for mansions in Silk City, they were even more out of reach. Without assets worth billions, you couldn't even afford the down payment.

So, when Mrs. Nadine got a call from her son saying he bought a mansion in Silk City, she instinctively thought Berloff had lost his mind.

"Mom, I'm perfectly clear-headed right now. Why don't you believe me?"

Berloff felt aggrieved.

"Alright, tell me, where did you buy this mansion, and how much did it cost?"

Mrs. Nadine pursed her lips and questioned repeatedly.

"Well..." Berloff Reed said excitedly, "This place is located at the famous 11 Silk City Boulevard. It has a rich history of 150 years, covering an area of 1.5 acres, and includes five old mansion villas."

"It has everything you could want: swimming pools, gyms, wine cellars, underground parking, and even a helipad."

"The total value? It's already over a billion dollars, making it the top luxury residence in Silk City!"

"In the future, don't just think about you and Dad coming over. Even if you invite all our relatives from back home, there will be plenty of room for everyone."

"When you get here, you'll be right by the waterfront. If you want to go shopping, you can take a private helicopter, no need to worry about traffic..."

At this point, Mrs. Nadine burst into laughter, nearly falling over with amusement.

"Hahaha... My dear son! You are so considerate!"

"Daydreaming in broad daylight, and you even called to make me happy."

"A billion-dollar mansion? Do you think you can afford that?"

"Let me tell you, stop thinking about these fantasies."

"Focus on settling down, getting married, and having kids. Your dad and I are waiting to become grandparents!"

Berloff was dumbfounded.

Did Mom just say I'm daydreaming?

This is ridiculous. Why does no one believe me when I'm telling the truth?

"Mom, I'm telling the truth! Why don't you believe me?" Berloff Reed pleaded, his face flushed with urgency, but Mrs. Nadine cut him off firmly.

"Enough! I don't have time for your nonsense!"

"Listen, your cousin Rebecca and a few colleagues are going on a business trip to Silk City. Make sure you pick her up from the airport this afternoon."

"If it's convenient, have Rebecca stay with you. Treat her well, got it?"

Cousin Rebecca?

A gentle and kind face with an oval shape immediately popped into Berloff's mind.

When he was a kid, he would spend every summer vacation at his uncle's house in the mountain town.

Rebecca, who was five years older than Berloff, was always very warm to her younger cousin. She would spend her pocket money on snacks and toys for him and acted like a leader, taking him around the mountain town.

However, once Berloff started college, he spent his summers working part-time jobs.

Rebecca also got busy with her job, and the two cousins hadn't seen each other for years.

Now that Rebecca was finally coming to Silk City for a business trip, Berloff knew he had to treat her well.

"Mom, don't worry. I'll make sure Rebecca eats and drinks well. I'll pamper her so much she'll leave as happy as Beatrice the cow."Mrs. Nadine snorted, "You better! If Rebecca isn't satisfied, you'll be in big trouble!"

After finishing her sentence, Mrs. Nadine hung up the phone.

Just then, Mr. Brock walked in the door.

"Old man, your precious son is getting more and more out of hand!" Mrs. Nadine fumed as she started to complain.

"What happened? Didn't Berloff take his old elementary school teacher to Silk City for treatment? Why are you upset again?" Mr. Brock asked, puzzled.

Mrs. Nadine sighed in frustration, "Don't even get me started! Last time he showed off back home, and a bunch of matchmakers came knocking, causing us no end of trouble."

"And just now on the phone, he said he spent billions in Silk City to buy a mansion on the waterfront and wants us to fly over and enjoy it."

Mr. Brock was stunned for a few seconds before he burst out laughing in exasperation.

"Good grief!"

"A waterfront mansion? Why doesn't he just say he bought all of downtown?""He makes a bit of money and suddenly he's king of the world. This kid is getting too big for his britches. What's next?"

Mrs. Nadine nodded worriedly, "Next time he comes home, you need to set him straight."

"If he keeps this up, who knows what he'll do next."

...

Meanwhile, Berloff Reed had no idea his parents were planning to give him a serious talking-to.

At No. 11 Bund, after enjoying a meticulously prepared lunch by the chef,Berloff Reed was ready to head to Silk City Airport to pick up his cousin, Rebecca.

"Uh, Mr. Berloff, I heard there's been an accident on the airport highway today. If you drive there, you'll probably get stuck in a massive traffic jam," said Sutton, the butler. "Not only will it waste time, but it might also be unsafe with potential delays and hazards on the road."

Berloff frowned slightly. "So what should I do? I can't exactly fly there... wait a minute."

Holy moly! Isn't there a private helicopter in the underground hangar at No. 11 Bund?

I can actually fly there!Sutton smiled warmly. "Mr. Berloff, with just one call, the pilot can be here in minutes. You can take the helicopter to the airport."

Berloff's eyes lit up with excitement. "Is it really that convenient? Flying a helicopter in the city doesn't require a flight plan or anything?"

Sutton shook his head. "Our helicopter has been pre-approved. It used to frequently fly to the airport to pick up important guests. It's not complicated at all; it can take off anytime."

Berloff was amazed. No wonder No. 11 Bund is known as the most luxurious residence in Silk City. Only the truly powerful can afford such convenience.

The level of convenience here is unimaginable for ordinary people. Forget about a private helicopter—even a regular consumer drone worth a few thousand bucks can't be flown freely in Silk City.

The system's reward of this No. 11 Bund mansion is simply incredible!

Soon, Berloff Reed boarded the AW139 helicopter. From high above, he gazed down at the countless skyscrapers of Silk City, heading straight for Silk City Airport.

Half an hour later, at Gate 5 of Silk City Airport.Three stylishly dressed office ladies and a young man in a suit were looking around, scanning the area.

"Rebecca, where's your cousin? Why isn't he here yet?"

"There are four of us. What kind of car is he driving? Will it fit all of us?"

"Yeah, maybe Mr. Darnell should call for a company luxury car to pick us up!"
