Xu Fan's Debut
"Oh—oh—oh!"
A deafening roar echoed through the night sky as Naruto, cloaked in the raging form of the Eight-Tails transformation, howled at the full moon. His mind was now lost to the malevolent chakra of the Nine Tails—Kurama. Consumed by pain and hatred, Naruto's only instinct was to destroy everything in sight.
"So this is… the power of the Nine Tails?"
Yugito Nii—Two-Tails Jinchūriki of Kumogakure—gulped, beads of sweat forming on her brow. Though she had once believed herself to be a perfect Jinchūriki, able to synchronize with Matatabi, the chakra exuding from Naruto now felt incomprehensibly vast and primal.
Even though Kurama was considered the strongest of the tailed beasts, she had once believed she could match it with proper control. But now, confronted with this overwhelming force, she was frozen in disbelief.
It got worse.
Naruto's snarling, bestial eyes locked onto Yugito.
"RRAAARGHH!"
With a guttural roar, Naruto lunged forward, his massive claw tearing through the earth to grab her.
"TAILED BEAST BOMB!"
In desperation, Yugito and Matatabi cooperated, launching the Tailed Beast Bomb they had initially prepared to intercept Sarutobi Hiruzen.
But Naruto—without even forming a proper counter—swatted it aside with a backhanded claw. The enormous orb of compressed chakra was knocked off course, arcing over Konoha like a meteor and exploding violently in the forest north of the village.
BOOM!
A searing blast of crimson and gold shot into the sky, lighting up the night like a second sun. Trees evaporated. Shockwaves cracked the earth. Screams followed.
Witnesses across Konoha could only gape in horror.
Two tailed beasts were now in the village. The Fourth Hokage was long dead. And now the Third Hokage—Hiruzen Sarutobi—lay collapsed on the ground, weakened from chakra exhaustion after clashing with Yugito's Fire Release technique and trying to subdue Naruto's rampage.
Elite jonin—Hiashi and Hizashi Hyuga, Shikaku Nara, Choza Akimichi, Inoichi Yamanaka—could only stare in helpless dread. They were strategists, warriors, veterans of war… but this power was something far beyond any battlefield they had faced.
Even if they had a plan, who among them had the power to carry it out?
Not a single person here could teleport Naruto out of the village like Minato Namikaze once did. The Flying Thunder God Technique had died with him.
Sarutobi tried to rise.
He couldn't even kneel properly, his body trembling.
"This… is Konoha's end…"
Hiashi Hyuga collapsed to one knee, gazing at Naruto's monstrous form tearing into buildings. But then he whispered a name, barely audible.
"Xu Fan…"
Shikaku turned to him. "Who?"
Hiashi hesitated. "He's the boy who saved Hinata from the Hyūga affair… and me, too. I didn't see it with my own eyes, but the clan elders confirmed it. He confronted both the Hyūga Main House and the Konoha Elders to stop them from sacrificing Hizashi."
Shikaku frowned. "Then where is he now?"
Hiashi bit his lip. "If he were in the village, surely he'd have sensed this… But maybe… maybe even he fears the Nine Tails."
That much chakra—it blanketed the entire village like a miasma of death. No Genin, no matter how gifted, could remain calm before it.
And yet…
BOOM!
Naruto seized Yugito and slammed her to the ground. A shockwave burst outward, scattering shinobi like leaves in a storm. Matatabi's massive form writhed and struggled beneath him, but Naruto's strength was simply monstrous.
BANG! BANG! BANG!
Naruto pummeled her again and again, fists like mountains, each strike sending out a thunderous shock that turned Konoha's defenders into ragdolls.
Their weapons—shuriken, kunai—were flung back before they even got close. Every second, the casualties mounted.
"It's hopeless…" Hiruzen whispered, his eyes heavy with sorrow.
He could feel Naruto's chakra still growing. Soon, this wouldn't be an eight-tailed form—it would become the full manifestation of Kurama. And if that happened…
Konoha would be no more.
Even if he wanted to seal the beast, he couldn't. The Dead Demon Consuming Seal couldn't be used again on a living Jinchūriki with Kurama still active.
"RRAAGHHH!"
With a roar, Naruto lifted his head to the sky, his mouth swelling with an enormous Tailed Beast Bomb—dozens of times more massive than the one Yugito had launched.
The shinobi below froze.
Their legs gave out.
Some wept.
Others simply waited for the end.
Even Hiruzen, clutching his staff, knew he couldn't stop it. He tried to rise… but collapsed again, the staff falling with a hollow thud.
"No one can stop him…"
Hiashi embraced Hizashi.
The final moment had come.
The bomb launched—bright, searing, and full of death.
And then…
ROOOAAAARRR!
A colossal wooden dragon burst from the earth, its scales gleaming, its fangs glistening with chakra. It soared upward and bit down on the bomb mid-flight—crushing it in its jaws.
BOOM!
An explosion lit up the sky, far above the village.
The shockwave still rocked the earth, but Konoha stood.
People gasped.
Even Naruto froze—his demonic eyes widening as he stared in confusion. His ultimate attack had… vanished?
And then a figure descended from the heavens.
A boy.
His dark hair fluttered, his expression calm, his cloak billowing like a storm's shadow.
He landed before the battered shinobi of Konoha—between them and the Nine Tails.
He didn't say a word.
He didn't need to.
Xu Fan had returned.
