Chapter 420: The Impoverished Soul Beast Clan
Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well.
With a loud splash, the Silver Dragon King, carrying a large dragon egg in her hands, and Ye Cheng broke through the surface of the lake, sending water droplets flying in all directions. Di Tian and the other fierce beasts immediately rushed forward, eager to know how things had gone.
The Silver Dragon King didn't explain in detail. She simply stated that the items they obtained would greatly aid in her recovery. Additionally, there was an unexpected gain the dragon egg in her hands.
Within it, a new life was taking shape, one that carried the pure bloodline of the ancient Water and Fire Dragon Kings. Once it hatched, the soul beast clan would gain two powerful allies.
Upon hearing that the egg contained the souls of the Ice and Fire Dragon Kings, Di Tian and the other fierce beasts couldn't help but glance at Ye Cheng, not because they were surprised that he could do such a thing, but because this raised a question
If a physical body could bring a soul back to life, could Ye Cheng also be resurrected?
To this, Ye Cheng shook his head.
"In theory, yes. But in reality, no."
"My strength in life was far too great. A body capable of containing my soul would need to be at least on the level of a Creation God. More importantly, right now, I am nothing but a fragmented soul, incomplete, with many of my memories missing. Even if I were to force a resurrection, I would never regain my former strength."
To put it simply, reviving in his current state would mean that his strength would always be limited.
Since his soul was incomplete, he wouldn't be able to cultivate or grow stronger to restore himself. He would forever be stuck at a certain level, with no way to surpass it.
Only if all his soul fragments were gathered together and fused back into a complete soul would resurrection truly be meaningful.
Until then, whether he was "alive" or not didn't matter.
Hearing this, the Silver Dragon King and the other beasts felt a little disappointed but quickly accepted reality. They knew they had already gained a miracle by having his help how could they dare ask for more?
As for collecting all of Ye Cheng's lost soul fragments?
That idea had certainly crossed their minds.
Especially after discovering that Ye Cheng could vaguely sense the locations of other fragments, they had been ready to track them down immediately.
But then, Ye Cheng poured cold water on their enthusiasm.
He told them that during his battle against the Abyssal Demon Lord, even he didn't know how many pieces his soul had shattered into.
Maybe tens of thousands. Maybe even millions.
When he arrived in this world, those fragments had been scattered across the entire universe.
The ones that had landed on Douluo Star were merely a tiny fraction of the whole.
Finding every last fragment in the endless cosmos?
Impossible.
Unless a Creation God intervened, it simply couldn't be done.
So, the few soul fragments currently on Douluo Star if they could find them, great, as they would enhance the power of this fragment.
But if they couldn't, it didn't matter.
What mattered most right now was strengthening the soul beast clan and preparing for the Abyss invasion.
Wasting time searching for fragments was pointless.
Since even Ye Cheng himself had dismissed the idea, the Silver Dragon King and the others had no choice but to accept his decision.
After all, whether the soul beast race could break free from the Divine Realm's oppression and survive the Abyss invasion depended entirely on this man before them.
Returning Home
With the Dragon Pearls of the Water and Fire Dragon Kings now in hand, the Silver Dragon King and her followers were ready to return to the Star Dou Forest.
But before leaving, they didn't forget about the immortal herbs covering the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well.
They gathered everything that could be used though they left the roots intact.
After all, this place had a uniquely blessed environment, ten times better than the outside world.
The herbs here could grow back quickly, so there was no need to strip it bare.
The Poverty of the Soul Beast Race
Soul beasts were simply too poor!
These immortal herbs were a gift from the heavens.
They could be used to nurture future generations, strengthening the entire soul beast race.
And unlike humans, soul beasts could absorb these herbs far more efficiently.
Because these herbs were nature's gift to soul beasts, a human who ate one raw might only absorb 10% of its effects at most.
But a soul beast could absorb 80 to 90% sometimes even the full 100%.
This was one of the fundamental differences between human bodies and soul beast bodies.
Moreover, soul beasts had an innate instinct that allowed them to identify beneficial and harmful herbs without needing any prior knowledge.
Unlike humans, who had to study herbs and their properties, soul beasts simply knew which ones they needed.
They didn't need names.
They didn't need descriptions.
Their beast instincts told them everything.
This was something humans could never match.
And so, with their spoils in tow, the group left the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well, leaving behind a nearly stripped bare medicine garden.
Meanwhile…
Elsewhere, a woman in disguise moved swiftly across the countryside.
After escaping through a secret passage and disguising herself as a man, Juzi had narrowly avoided capture by the Sun Moon Empire.
Several days had passed.
Now, the Sun Moon Empire's official wanted notices had finally been issued.
The empire was conducting a nationwide manhunt.
At every city gate, soldiers stood watch, holding portraits of her face as they carefully inspected travelers.
There were no body searches, only a requirement for people to release their martial souls for identification.
However, this method had serious flaws.
After all, no city was completely sealed off.
There were always places where someone could sneak out unnoticed.
No matter how high a wall was built or how tightly a city was guarded, there were always weak points.
By the time the Sun Moon Empire's wanted order was issued, Juzi had already escaped into the wilderness.
She avoided all major cities and instead traveled through remote villages and uninhabited regions.
As long as she remained outside walled cities, the empire's gate inspections were meaningless.
Because the Sun Moon Empire wasn't foolish enough to build walls around their entire nation.
Only major cities had defensive perimeters.
But in rural villages and wild lands, there were no walls only open paths.
By taking these hidden routes, she made it impossible for them to catch her.
Unless
Someone had placed a tracking device on her.She deliberately revealed herself.Someone betrayed her and led an ambush to capture her.
Otherwise, the Sun Moon Empire had already lost their chance.
Juzi… was gone.
