Karin helped them pack the little they had, sealing their belongings inside scrolls with quick, precise movements.
Despite being Uzumaki, the siblings barely knew the basics of Fūinjutsu.
They hadn't even mastered techniques as simple as sealing ordinary objects.
They had a long way to go when it came to clan knowledge.
While Karin took care of packing everything, Naruto took the opportunity to talk more in-depth with Naoto. He needed all the possible information if he was going to go looking for his father.
The man's name was Shūen Uzumaki.
Naruto was surprised to learn that Shūen was a direct descendant of Ashina Uzumaki, the last recognized leader of the Uzumaki Clan before the fall of Uzushiogakure.
Mito Uzumaki, the wife of the First Hokage and the first Jinchūriki of the Kyūbi, was the sister of Shūen's grandfather's father.
It was a distant connection, but it still placed them as members of the clan's main bloodline.
Mito herself had to explain it calmly —and with a bit of patience— to Naruto through the group chat so he could understand the genealogy without getting lost in the process.
It wasn't that he was dumb, just that it was a little convoluted.
In short, Shūen, and therefore his children, came from the main line of the clan.
According to Naoto, his father was only five years old when the village of Uzushiogakure was destroyed.
That placed him around fifty years old, maybe a bit more.
He also gave a brief description of his father. Shūen still had the characteristic red hair of the Uzumaki, although some gray strands had begun to appear, according to Naoto.
That was all Naruto needed.
As long as Shūen didn't cover his hair, finding him in the Land of Demons shouldn't be too difficult.
After all, an Uzumaki's red hair was hard to miss, even in a crowd.
With that in mind, Naruto now had a clearer image of who he needed to look for.
...
[Indra Ōtsutsuki: I think Rasa is already broken, Naruto. Can I take Orochimaru now?]
[Naruto Uzumaki: No. Leave him alone for now. He hasn't caused any trouble since joining the group. As long as he stays that way, we can ignore him.]
[Indra Ōtsutsuki: Tch. Fine.]
[Madara Uchiha: Both Rasa and that bag of bones have become unbearably boring.]
[Naruto Uzumaki: Maybe I'll send Kisame or Itachi your way soon... though don't go overboard with them.]
[Kisame Hoshigaki: Hey, hey... Hold up a second. I've seen what those lunatics consider fun, and I'm telling you, even I'm not that sadistic. Their torture methods are borderline inhuman. Remember when I passed on my knowledge of handling Samehada to you? Well… remember that, buddy, and don't throw me into that slaughterhouse.]
[Naruto Uzumaki: Alright, alright. I'll let it slide this time. You're lucky—I'm merciful.]
[Kisame Hoshigaki: Sure, try not to lie to my face next time...]
[Madara Uchiha: Send us that traitor Itachi, Naruto! I have new torture methods I want to test on him...]
[Itachi Uchiha: …]
[Naruto Uzumaki: Unfortunately, I promised Mikoto I'd bring him back to life at some point. I don't want him coming back as a vegetable.]
[Madara Uchiha: Wow, you really take all the fun out of life...]
[Naruto Uzumaki: But you're dead, Madara-chan.]
[Madara Uchiha: …]
[Naruto Uzumaki: Changing the subject. I have a proposal for you two, Rasa, Hiruzen.]
[Madara Uchiha: What the hell are you doing, brat? Just because they're broken and it's boring to keep playing with them doesn't mean they're not our toys to pass the time with.]
Naruto ignored Madara's message, waiting for a response from Rasa or Hiruzen.
He had removed their permanent mute, hoping they'd at least say something.
But neither of them replied.
[Indra Ōtsutsuki: Told you, they're broken. I don't think they'll say anything...]
[Naruto Uzumaki: I was hoping they'd say something... But oh well. If you're reading this, you bastards, give me all your power and I'll make Indra and Madara stop torturing you. If not, they'll make it even worse.]
A few seconds passed.
Naruto frowned, hoping his threat would work.
Just when he was about to ask Indra and Madara to go visit them again, two simultaneous messages arrived.
[Hiruzen Sarutobi has transferred all his combat experience, techniques, knowledge, and power to the group leader!]
[Rasa has transferred all his combat experience, techniques, knowledge, and power to the group leader!]
Naruto grinned maliciously upon seeing both messages.
[Biwako Sarutobi: I'm glad it's over. The first day was fun, but as his wife, I couldn't stand much more.]
[Mito Uzumaki: You were one of the first to choose when to torture him, Biwako...]
[Biwako Sarutobi: That's…]
Naruto ignored those messages and focused on Hiruzen and Rasa.
"I don't need them anymore," he muttered to himself.
[Group leader Naruto Uzumaki has permanently expelled Hiruzen Sarutobi.]
[Group leader Naruto Uzumaki has permanently expelled Rasa.]
[Itachi Uchiha: !]
[Kisame Hoshigaki: Heh...]
[Naruto Uzumaki: They served their purpose. I won't allow trash like them to come back to life.]
[Kisame Hoshigaki: Does that mean you'll expel me when I give you all my power?]
[Naruto Uzumaki: No, unless you give me a good reason. You're a psychopathic bastard, but at least I don't dislike you.]
[Kisame Hoshigaki: Psychopath...?]
[Naruto Uzumaki: Besides, I thought about expelling Itachi, but by Mikoto's request I didn't. His mommy had to save him...]
[Itachi Uchiha: …]
Naruto was glad Itachi wasn't much of a talker, because if he were, he might've changed his mind.
He had already been holding back a lot. He would've liked to expel him when he had the chance.
...
"Summoning Technique: Garuda!"
Naruto slammed his hand onto the ground, and a dense cloud of smoke burst around him.
When the smoke cleared, everyone saw him standing atop the back of a majestic, large hawk, wings spread and feathers gleaming in the sunlight.
"Oh! This is perfect for travel! Thanks, Gaara!" exclaimed Naruto with a big smile, stroking the plumage of his new winged companion.
It was Gaara who had given him the hawk summoning scroll, tired of hearing Naruto complain about how long it would take to go from the Land of Fire to the Land of Demons.
Naruto hadn't stopped pestering him, asking to borrow the summoning scroll.
Gaara had tried to ignore him, but after Temari's intervention, he agreed to lend him the scroll.
After all, hawk summoning wasn't exclusive to Sunagakure; it was common for the great nations to use them for messaging.
Takamaru and Tobimaru, for example, were Sunagakure's main messenger hawks.
But when Naruto made his first summoning contract, he thought of one hawk in particular—Garuda.
In the future, Garuda would be Reika's personal summoning.
Although Naruto wasn't sure if that would still be the case...
Naruto had no intention of making Garuda his personal summon—he already had Gamakichi—but he would use him as his main means of aerial transportation.
"Wait, Naruto!" Karura shouted, just as Naoto and his siblings were about to climb onto Garuda.
"Hmm?" Naruto turned from atop the hawk, looking down with a raised eyebrow, clearly confused.
"We haven't talked about when you'll take Temari as your wife! I haven't even had time to bring it up!" said Karura, arms crossed, with a serious maternal concern on her face.
Naruto let out a sigh and rolled his eyes.
From the ground, Temari choked on her own saliva, her face turning fiery red.
"W-what are you saying, Mom?! Marry him?!" Temari exclaimed, totally out of place. Her brothers looked at her with a mix of surprise and amusement.
Naruto turned to Karura with a resigned grimace.
"Sorry, Karura... I already have three wives," he said casually.
Karin, comfortably seated on his lap atop Garuda, raised a hand and grinned boldly.
"I'll be one of them!" Karin happily admitted.
Naruto smiled at her enthusiasm.
"And right now, we're off to get the fourth! No room for a fifth!" Naruto added with a teasing grin.
"F-fourth wife?!" Karin blurted out in horror, slowly turning toward Naruto.
Naruto looked at Karin with a teasing smile and then leaned in to whisper something in her ear.
"I'm joking, idiot."
Karura puffed out her cheeks, frustrated. She felt like she had wasted a golden opportunity. "I should've brought this up as soon as we arrived in the village..." she thought, bringing a hand to her forehead.
With a strong flap of wings, Garuda began to lift off the ground, raising a cloud of sand around them.
"Also, Karura!" Naruto shouted just before flying off. "No sane mother should want me as a son-in-law."
At that moment, a gigantic hand made of sand emerged behind them, rising into the air in farewell.
Naruto saw it out of the corner of his eye and smiled.
"Heh... Gaara. Always so dramatic."
He raised his hand in return, waving goodbye to Gaara as Garuda soared through the skies, leaving Sunagakure behind.
As for Kabuto...
Garuda had a rope hanging from one of his hind legs, and at the end of it, swinging sadly in the air, was Kabuto...
His hair flapped wildly, and his expression was one of absolute resignation.
"Are you sure that was necessary?" Karin asked, looking down.
"Would you want him sitting next to us?" Naruto replied without even looking at her. "I wouldn't."
Karin thought about it for a second... and nodded.
"It's well hung..."
