Katherine's POV
I tried not to think too much of his hand at my back as we walked into the hall, ignoring as well the looks everyone gave us. We had been married for a while and I didn't understand why most people loved to stare like it was a wonder to see Jack married.
It shouldn't be a surprise to them anymore.
I didn't get them at times.
It bothered me but I always pretended not to be. I scanned the area, looking for Melissa and exhaled in relief when I didn't see her. I was already rattled with the looks people gave me and sighting her would only tip me off the edge.
Jack leaned closer, his breath fanning my cheek and sending thrills through my veins. I could feel the goosebumps popping on my skin and hoped that he didn't see them.
"Melissa isn't going to be here, I made sure of that. You can relax." He whispered.
