Chapter 9 - Space Magic

Lucian sat outside his ranch, watching his slimes go about their work. It had been weeks since he last experimented with new mutations—his focus had shifted elsewhere.

It all started when one of his Scavenger Slimes found a cave hidden deep within the valley. At first, Lucian thought it was just another potential expansion for his ranch, but what he discovered inside changed everything.

The cave was dark and eerily silent, the air thick with the scent of decay. Lucian, cautious as always, sent a few Cleaner Slimes ahead to make sure there were no hidden dangers.

As he ventured deeper, his eyes fell upon something unexpected—

A corpse.

It was old, nearly skeletal, with tattered robes that hinted at its former status. From the faded markings on the fabric, Lucian recognized it as belonging to a mage.

Beside the corpse lay two objects:

A thick, worn-out book with intricate symbol and strange orb that pulsed faintly with a mysterious energy.

Lucian picked up the book first. As he dusted it off and flipped through its pages, his heart pounded.

It was a book on Space Magic.

"Space Magic…" he murmured. It was one of the rarest and most difficult magic types to learn. Few mages in the world possessed it, and even fewer had written records of its secrets.

The orb, on the other hand, radiated an aura that felt strangely incomplete. As Lucian examined it, a sudden realization hit him.

"This must be a Dimensional Core…"

He had read about these in old records—artifacts needed to create personal dimensional spaces. But the ritual to activate them was dangerous. If it failed, it could shatter space itself, destroying or teleporting the user's body to unknown locations.

That must have been what happened to this mage. His body was warped and broken by his failed ritual.

Lucian, however, saw an opportunity.

Returning to his ranch, Lucian wasted no time. He buried the mage's remains out of respect before diving into the book.

Days passed as he studied its contents, absorbing every detail. He discovered that he talent for space magic is very good. Just a few times of reading and he can hse the spell

Then, as he was trying to practice one of the simpler techniques, something happened.

A voice echoed in his mind—

[You have acquired the skill: Space Magic]

He immediately tested a simple spell: Short-Range Teleportation.

Focusing on a nearby boulder, he envisioned himself standing next to it. In a blink, the world around him shifted, and suddenly—

He was there.

His breath caught in his throat. He had just teleported.

Excitement filled him. He spent weeks training, temporarily setting aside his slime experiments.

His mastery over Space Magic grew rapidly. He could now:

Teleport long distances with ease.

Create small spatial distortions, allowing him to shift objects without touching them.

Develop a defensive technique, similar to a barrier, using compressed space.

Then, after countless preparation.

He activated the ritual for the Dimensional Core.

A surge of power flooded his body as space bent and twisted around him. The core pulsed, syncing with his very being. The ritual had succeeded. He gain his own personal dimension

[You have acquired the skill: Space Manipulation]

Lucian opened his own personal dimension—a space that only he could access.

The possibilities were endless.

Lucian finally stepped back from his relentless training. His slimes had been left alone for weeks, but now he had something that could change everything.

With his Space Manipulation skill, Lucian statted to upgrade his ranch.

He created a formation around his ranch that creates a space barrier. He also use it to hide his ranch.
