He actually managed to save him!
Everyone was dumbfounded. What kind of freak was this kid? Fighting like a madman and performing life-saving skills? Unbelievable.
Lei Ming's face twisted in sheer irritation, like someone suffering from a terrible itch they couldn't scratch. After a long pause, he muttered reluctantly to Chen Xinan:
"Since you saved my father, let's call it even. No hard feelings… I won't hold a grudge."
Chen Xinan glanced at him, then casually raised a hand.
Lei Ming's eyes widened. "Are you—are you about to hit me again?" he squeaked, shrinking back.
Chen Xinan flicked the blood off his hands and smirked:
"If you annoy me again, I'll deal with you—right in front of your father, same as always."
Ignoring Lei Ming, Chen Xinan turned to Lei Guang. "I thought it was a brain hemorrhage. Clearly it's not. There's something inside your head. If we don't remove it, you won't get better."
Lei Guang's eyes went wide. "Young man… you're amazing! To be honest, I was once a soldier, and there's a bullet stuck in my head. I survived by some miracle, but for years, I couldn't get it removed. Every major hospital said taking it out would be fatal!"
Chen Xinan waved a hand nonchalantly. "They just didn't have the skill. I can help you remove it. Not now, though. Later, when I have time, I'll do it."
Lei Ming snorted, full of scorn. "You really have no shame, bragging like this! The top surgeons in Huaxia couldn't help my father. And you, some hillbilly, think you can?"
Chen Xinan delivered a swift kick that sent Lei Ming stumbling sideways. Squinting at him, he said:
"See how your top surgeons would handle making your father fully conscious in thirty seconds? Let's see if they could do it!"
Lei Ming panicked. "You hit again? Are you insane? My father never…!"
Chen Xinan snorted. "If you don't behave, I'll educate you in his stead!"
Lei Guang, still stunned by the procedure, exhaled and asked, "I don't even know your name…"
"His name is Chen Xinan," Lin Shuai said, excitedly pointing him out to Lei Guang.
Lin Shuai had initially planned to use Lei Ming to teach this bumpkin a lesson—but now, the tables were completely turned. Chen Xinan dared to speak boldly in front of Lei Guang. Lin Shuai could hardly contain his joy.
"You hillbilly have no idea who you're standing next to," he thought. "See how arrogant you are now?"
Despite the wound still oozing blood, Lei Guang stood, facing Chen Xinan. "You take care of this troublemaker from now on. If he misbehaves, scold him, punish him—I don't care!"
Chen Xinan barely hesitated, and Lei Guang continued, grimacing:
"Don't hold back because of me. If he acts out and you see it, do what you must. Anyone who tries to stop you, I'll handle them myself!"
Lin Shuai gaped, almost losing his mind. Lei Ming, on the other hand, was turning red with humiliation.
"Dad! I don't need him to 'educate' me! Who does he think he is?!"
"Shut up!" Lei Guang snapped, pointing at him. "I can't protect you forever. Soon, you'll be in real trouble. This is final—no objections!"
He turned, fishing a business card from his pocket and pressing it into Chen Xinan's hand, his voice desperate:
"Mr. Chen, I won't waste your time. Just keep an eye on him. See him misbehave? Handle it. In Dongshan, only you have the authority to touch him. Please don't refuse. And you saved my life… I will forever be grateful."
Chen Xinan eyed him warily. Was this some kind of trap?
But when he caught Lei Ming glaring daggers at him, a smirk tugged at his lips. "Fine. I'll do it."
He took the card, briefly scanned the impressive credentials, and casually slipped it into his pocket, expression unchanged.
Even Lei Guang was impressed—this young man was extraordinary.
After treating Lei Guang's wounds and removing the needles, Chen Xinan prepared to leave. Lei Guang insisted on sending him back. Unable to refuse, Chen Xinan allowed it.
Eastshan Zui Xian Hotel
This was the Liangmao Distillery's own hotel, also used by Ning Xiruo to host guests. The wedding in two days would be held here, though preparations had not yet started. Ning Xiruo didn't even want a big setup—she didn't want this wedding at all.
Thinking about the humiliation at the train station, her whole body trembled. That arrogant bastard!
Secretary Xiao Zhou approached quietly. "Miss Ning, there's still no news…"
Ning Xiruo frowned. "Keep checking. They can't just disappear like this."
"Yes!" Xiao Zhou replied. After a pause, she asked hesitantly: "Miss Ning… you hate that boy so much, why are you so worried?"
Ning Xiruo snapped, "I dislike him, yes, but he's the one my grandmother personally selected! If anything happens, she'll blame me to death!"
Xiao Zhou smiled faintly. "Don't worry. Vice President Lin usually knows his limits… he won't go too far."
"Lin Shuai? He's not brave enough," Ning Xiruo said dismissively. "People like him only bully those weaker or more cautious than themselves. When faced with someone richer or more reckless, he chickens out. He wouldn't dare kill a chicken, let alone a person."
Xiao Zhou chuckled silently.
Ning Xiruo huffed. "I dislike both of them, but I don't object to Lin Shuai teaching that bumpkin a lesson. Arriving here acting all arrogant? Someone needs to keep him in check! With Lin Shuai and his friends, it'll be easy. That boy will learn to behave."
Just then, Xiao Zhou's phone rang. She answered and froze. After hanging up, she told Ning Xiruo: "Miss Ning… he's back."
Ning Xiruo exhaled. "Is he injured? Take him to the hospital first."
"No," Xiao Zhou said, shaking her head with a complicated look. "The security said… he was personally brought back by a high-ranking official."
