The news of Natasha's sacrifice plunged everyone into grief—everyone, that is, except Su Xiuyu. After all, this wasn't his world. There was no friendship with Natasha here. No connection. Nothing to mourn.
"Can't we use the Infinity Stones to bring Natasha back?" Rhodes asked, grasping at the last straws of hope.
Banner shook his head grimly. "Unfortunately, because Natasha sacrificed herself willingly for the Soul Stone, there's no way to resurrect her—even with all the Stones in hand."
"Actually... it's not entirely impossible," Su Xiuyu interrupted, his voice calm, yet mysterious.
Everyone turned to him, eyes lighting up. "There's really a way?" Steve asked, his voice full of desperate hope.
"There is something," Su Xiuyu said, pausing, "but it's useless to talk about it. Don't say you can't do it—even Odin, the All-Father of Asgard, wouldn't be able to pull it off."
"If you know something, you should at least tell us," Banner pressed, unable to hide the emotion in his voice. Despite everything, Natasha had meant something to him. More than he'd let on.
Su Xiuyu's gaze turned distant. "If you can find Death... and earn her consent... then you can bring Natasha's soul back. With the soul, the body is just a trivial matter. You have the technology and magic in this world to recreate a body."
A heavy silence followed.
"But the real problem," Su Xiuyu continued, "is finding Death."
"You don't mean Hela, do you?" Steve asked. "Thor's sister? She vanished with Asgard's destruction. No one knows if she survived."
"No, I'm not talking about Hela," Su Xiuyu said, shaking his head. "I'm talking about Death itself. A cosmic entity—the true embodiment of the end of life. Not a god. Not a ruler of some underworld. Something far older."
He turned to them, eyes sharp. "Let me ask you all something: the Asgardians—Thor, Odin—do they seem more like gods or... advanced aliens?"
His words hung in the air. Slowly, the team began to understand.
The gods of Asgard were powerful, yes. But they aged. They died. Their power had limits.
Death did not.
"The Goddess of Death controls all souls across the universe. She's one of the five cosmic creation entities. She is the origin, the end, the arbiter of all life's conclusion. She exists in every multiverse—unchanging, singular. The true constant."
Everyone fell silent again. Their last thread of hope—cut.
"This kind of being doesn't answer calls. Even if you die, you may never meet her. She exists beyond your grasp."
The room was quiet.
"Well," Su Xiuyu exhaled lightly, brushing invisible dust off his robes. "Time for me to take a look around this world. See you later."
And with that, he vanished into thin air.
———
"Banner," Rhodes muttered after a long pause, "are we sure this guy is really here to help us? He seems… kind of shady."
"Shhh!" Banner immediately hushed him, eyes wide. "Don't let him hear you. His strength is insane—and he's helping us voluntarily."
Rhodes gave a skeptical look. "That's not like you, man. Aren't you the Incredible Hulk? Since when did you get scared?"
Banner sighed. "You didn't see the way they crushed the Chitauri. If you had, you might think Thanos was just a warm-up."
"I came back from the New York battlefield. Their version of the Chitauri was on a completely different level. Tony nuked them in our world. There? The military dropped several nukes—and they still didn't scratch the surface."
Rhodes frowned. "Wait. Nukes? On New York?"
"Yep. Only the first one was launched into space by Tony. The rest exploded on the city. But the people were saved—because that world had something we don't. An enchantment. A magical barrier over all of New York."
"Magic?" Rhodes raised an eyebrow.
"Think of it like a high-tech energy shield... but powered by humans. And the future successor of Kamar-Taj summoned a mountain-sized guardian that wiped the Chitauri mothership out in one strike. That's how the invasion ended."
"Oh, and they didn't even need the scepter. He just tore open the space gate created by the Space Stone with brute force. He has both the Time and Space Stones."
———
Later, Tony and Steve returned from the quantum realm. The first thing they asked about was Su Xiuyu.
"Is he really trustworthy?" Tony asked.
Cap folded his arms. "Trustworthy or not, we can't exactly do anything about it. We're not strong enough to stop him."
———
Meanwhile, Su Xiuyu arrived at the mountains of Nepal—at Kamar-Taj.
The air was thick with spiritual energy. Though Dr. Strange had been gone for years, the sanctum still stood, hidden from mortal eyes.
Suddenly, inside the library, Wong stirred. He sensed something—Kamar-Taj's defensive enchantments had been triggered.
Appearing outside, Wong looked up. A stranger floated in the sky, gazing down on Kamar-Taj.
"Who dares trespass on sacred grounds?" Wong called out, summoning his magic.
Su Xiuyu turned slowly, revealing the Eye of Agamotto resting on his chest.
Wong froze.
"Supreme Mage…?" he whispered. Then, immediately, he bowed. "Welcome, Supreme Mage."
Though Su Xiuyu was a stranger, the Eye of Agamotto was unmistakable. And the Time Stone in this universe had long since been destroyed. This man was from another universe.
"Wong," Su Xiuyu said calmly, "you've been slacking. Kamar-Taj doesn't look too good these days. Without Strange, it's grown weak."
"And just call me Su Xiuyu"
Wong lowered his head. "Forgive me. I'm not as gifted as Strange. I've done my best to hold things together."
"Don't be so hard on yourself," Su Xiuyu said. "Talent is one thing—but leadership is another. You've done well."
He paused, his expression softening.
"But let's see what you've got. Show me your strength, Guardian of Kamar-Taj."
Su Xiuyu didn't speak like a god—but there was weight in every word. After all, he owed much to the teachings of Kamar-Taj in his own world. Now, with the Ancient One long gone in this universe, someone needed to protect it.
-------------------------
Su Xiuyu stood at the heart of Kamar-Taj, carefully observing Wang's spellcasting. After a full assessment, he gave a quiet nod.
"Your fundamentals are solid," Su Xiuyu said, folding his arms. "Still... you're a bit behind Strange."
Wang didn't react, but a faint twitch of his eyebrow betrayed his thoughts.
"It's not necessarily about talent," Su Xiuyu continued, "but application. Strange may have more raw talent, but his arrogance... it's his greatest flaw. He's obsessed with forbidden magic, always pushing boundaries—and that's what led him to make catastrophic mistakes."
Wang remained silent, listening intently.
"Your strength lies in your steady approach. You're reliable. Consistent. That's a kind of strength Strange never mastered."
Su Xiuyu stepped forward, his tone shifting from critique to encouragement.
"If you're willing to commit to strengthening Kamar-Taj, I'm willing to cross universes to guide you—when time permits. Your main issue lies in your control. You're precise, but too conservative in battle. You need a bit more... imagination."
Wang blinked. "Imagination?"
"Yes. Creativity. Think beyond tradition. And don't dismiss modern technology so quickly," Su Xiuyu added with a slight grin. "In this world, magic and tech aren't rivals. They can—and should—complement one another."
He paused, then chuckled.
"After all, in one timeline, Tony Stark became the Sorcerer Supreme."
That raised Wang's eyebrows. "Tony?"
"In my home universe, Strange hasn't even appeared yet. He's probably still a surgeon."
Wang gave a respectful bow. "Thank you, Supreme Master."
Su Xiuyu raised an eyebrow. "I thought I said to call me Su Xiuyu."
Wang gave a sheepish smile, though his fingers still twitched nervously. Su Xiuyu had claimed he'd just demonstrate a few basic techniques—but even those left Wang awestruck.
There was no incantation, no glyphs—just pure, overwhelming power. And Wang realized something terrifying: Su Xiuyu could likely destroy an entire country with a wave of his hand.
"How... how do you cast spells without drawing from mana?" Wang finally asked, unable to keep the question inside any longer.
"Did you notice?" Su Xiuyu smiled. "To me, magic is just the art of energy manipulation. Some of us can generate and control energy directly—no need for an external reservoir."
As he spoke, Su Xiuyu raised his hand, a soft blue light forming in his palm. Chakra.
Wang stared at it, his eyes widening. This energy was unfamiliar—yet somehow deeply refined.
"This... What kind of energy is this?"
"Chakra. My own. My body's natural energy, molded through will and training."
"Any side effects?" Wang asked cautiously.
"Sure. If you lack talent, you won't have much energy to begin with," Su Xiuyu replied casually. "But that's just the way of the world. Same as magic."
Wang considered it, then said, "That's not really a side effect. That's just... a question of talent."
Su Xiuyu nodded. "True. Oh—and it doesn't extend your lifespan, if that matters."
"Magic doesn't either," Wang muttered, but his gaze drifted as he thought of the Ancient One.
"Don't judge her for using dark energy to prolong her life," Su Xiuyu said, reading his expression. "She protected the Earth for centuries. Besides, energy isn't inherently good or evil. It's how it's used. The problem with darkness is that it's incredibly hard to control."
Wang broke into a cold sweat. "That kind of energy... It's Dormammu's domain. To challenge that is—"
"Have I met Dormammu?" Su Xiuyu interrupted with a faint smile. "Yes. Fought him head-on. Couldn't beat him... but I held my ground."
"You fought Dormammu without the Infinity Gems?" Wang gasped.
"I didn't use the gems. I relied solely on my own power," Su Xiuyu confirmed.
Wang's heart skipped a beat. This wasn't just a guest of Kamar-Taj. This was a being on par with legends—maybe beyond them.
"Su Xiuyu... you're always welcome at Kamar-Taj," Wang said quickly, his tone now utterly reverent. "There's so much I can learn from you!"
Su Xiuyu nodded. He spent the next three days reorganizing and enhancing the spell knowledge at Kamar-Taj, compiling centuries of magical theory and technique into something clearer, more usable.
But while he remained hidden behind Kamar-Taj's protective wards, the rest of the world descended into chaos.
The Avengers were in full panic. Doctor Strange had been snapped out of existence by Thanos, and no one could find Su Xiuyu. Not even Stark's satellites or SHIELD's most advanced sensors could locate the Supreme Mage.
Then, finally, Su Xiuyu emerged.
"You're back!" Banner breathed, looking exhausted. "We've been trying to contact you for days."
Tony approached, eyes narrowing. It was his first time meeting Su Xiuyu, and he was taken aback by his youthful appearance.
"You're... the Supreme Mage?" he asked, surprised.
"Don't stare," Su Xiuyu replied with a smirk. "I'm older than I look. Technically, older than you."
Tony raised an eyebrow. "You read minds now?"
"I don't need to. Your thoughts are loud."
Tony scoffed. "You don't act like a Supreme Mage."
Su Xiuyu shrugged. "Where I'm from, I'm considered young. My species has a long lifespan—longer than even Thor's. By my standards, I'm still in my early years."
He studied Tony for a moment, then added, "You're much more... burdened than the Tony in my universe. He's happier. He doesn't carry the weight of the world alone."
Tony's jaw clenched. "You're not exactly subtle."
"Should I be?"
The tension lingered for a moment, then Su Xiuyu waved his hand. The Infinity Gauntlet Tony had built floated into his palm.
"Hmph. The craftsmanship is passable," he said, inspecting it. "But it doesn't compare to what the dwarves made. Using this will cripple whoever snaps. It's only safe for someone like Banner or Thor."
Everyone tensed.
"Relax," Su Xiuyu said. "I'm not going to use it."
He pulled out the two gems in his possession—the Time Stone and the Mind Stone—and inserted them into the gauntlet. Then, with graceful precision, he summoned the rest and inlaid them into the glove.
In that moment, a surge of divine power washed over him. It felt as if the universe itself bowed before him, omnipotence dancing in his grasp.
It was intoxicating—but fleeting.
Su Xiuyu knew this feeling wasn't real. The Infinity Stones didn't belong to him. Their power wasn't his. And once he returned to the ninja world, they would likely become nothing more than pretty pebbles.
