Chapter 93. Magneto Stark
Various items continued to fly across the lab, and after a while, with Tony at the center, almost every object containing metal within several dozen meters had been pulled toward him!
Even heavy, bolted-down equipment trembled violently, as if trying to break free and hurl itself in Tony's direction.
In moments, Tony's once-pristine laboratory had been reduced to chaos. Tools and instruments lay strewn across the room, most of them heavily damaged or completely destroyed.
"Hahaha! Tony was always worried we might accidentally wreck his villa if we lost control of our powers—but look at this! He's the one who's done the most damage!" Felix said with a grin.
"I wonder what his expression will be when he sees the aftermath of his own superpower awakening."
Fortunately, Tony's ability had only just emerged, and its effect was still relatively limited—mostly targeting metallic objects within a short range. If the power had been stronger, it might've reached his personal collection of Iron Man suits displayed in the next room. That would've been a truly devastating blow.
If that had happened, Tony might have wept on the spot.
"Felix, now's not the time to gloat," Banner said with a helpless sigh.
"What should we do now? What exactly is this power Tony awakened? It caused such a massive disturbance!"
Banner, thankfully, hadn't been hurt—thanks to Felix's quick reaction in shielding him. Despite the chaos, Banner had managed to keep himself calm, narrowly avoiding a transformation into the Hulk from the stress.
Looking around, everyone seemed equally confused. No one could quite understand what kind of ability Tony had awakened that would lead to such destruction.
Felix decided to give them a hint.
"Think carefully—what do all these objects have in common?" he said, gesturing to the pile of debris now plastered against the glass wall.
"Huh? Now that you mention it... metal! They're all made of metal!" Steve suddenly exclaimed.
"So Tony's power is... attracting metal?"
"Not quite," Felix replied. "To be precise, Tony's awakened ability is the power to manipulate metal freely—not just attract it. That means he could use it for defense, attack, or even control bullets mid-flight. With this ability, and considering how much metal there is in any urban area, Tony's power is incredibly versatile and dangerous."
"Of course, right now he's only just awakened it and doesn't have full control—just like Steve earlier—so it went a bit haywire. Plus, his current range and the amount of metal he can control are probably limited."
"If his ability were stronger," Felix added, "–even bolted-down structures would've been torn apart and flung toward him."
"Still, we won't know the full extent until Tony comes out and shows us what he can really do."
For a moment, Felix had thought Tony might've awakened telekinesis, or "psychic force"—a power seen often in fiction, and undeniably impressive. After all, the ability to move objects with one's mind is as stylish as it is practical.
But upon closer observation, Felix noticed only metallic objects were affected. Items made from other materials were left untouched, which ruled out full-blown telekinesis.
That pointed to something closer to magnetism—perhaps a power akin to Magneto's. Whether Tony had control over metal itself, or the magnetic fields surrounding it, was still unclear.
Only Tony himself could confirm it—once he woke up fully and took control of his powers.
Suddenly, Thor's voice echoed from behind them, full of confusion.
"What happened just now? I thought I felt an earthquake!"
He stepped out of the hallway, rubbing his stomach and looking around at the mess.
"Nothing serious," Felix replied casually. "Tony just awakened his superpowers."
"What kind of power causes this? I could feel the tremors all the way in the bathroom! I wasn't even gone that long, and now the whole place looks like a war zone!"
Thor's baffled expression was understandable. The lab did indeed look like it had been struck by a tornado.
"Haha, well, no matter. It's all Tony's doing, so he can worry about the repairs," Felix said with a smirk. "We just need to wait for him to come out."
Minutes passed in silence as the group stood quietly, waiting. Surprisingly, Thor seemed to be holding up well and wasn't showing signs of another stomach attack.
Still, Felix was starting to get impatient.
"It's been long enough. Why hasn't Tony come out yet?"
Activating his X-ray vision, Felix peered into the room—and what he saw surprised him.
Tony stood at the center of –the room, eyes –closed, completely still. Surrounding him was the last remaining object: the steel bed, now floating midair as if held by invisible hands. It circled him slowly, orbiting with no clear pattern—like a moon around a planet.
There was no sound. No movement from Tony himself. Just the eerie sight of the bed floating aimlessly, as if in the grip of some strange force.
Felix raised an eyebrow.
"Well... that's new."
Felix quickly realized that Tony still hadn't fully mastered his powers.
"Thor, it's only been a few minutes. You already can't hold it? Are there side effects?" Felix turned his gaze and focused curiously on Thor, who looked rather uncomfortable.
"Felix, could you not bring that up again? Every time you say it, it just… triggers it!" Thor glared at him while clutching his stomach.
"I can't take it anymore! When Tony comes out, call me!"
With that, Thor rushed off, holding his stomach, disappearing down the hallway.
Bang! Crash!
Just as Thor vanished, a loud crash echoed through the room, followed by the sound of shattering glass.
"Tony, you're finally done!"
Felix was the first to react, turning toward the source of the sound. The glass wall, which had been obscured by a pile of various metal objects, was now shattered and lying in pieces.
Curiously, the metal items beyond the glass weren't immediately sucked into the room. Instead, they floated eerily in place—as if time itself had frozen and gravity no longer applied.
But the bizarre stillness only lasted a few seconds.
Then, the metallic objects began to shift, as though driven by thought. They slowly parted to either side, like a set of grand doors opening, and from the center of the path emerged a very familiar figure.
"Haha! Sorry to keep you all waiting!" Tony's voice rang out confidently. "What do you think? My return feels pretty epic, doesn't it?"
"Epic, my ass!" Felix retorted, unable to hold back. "If your newly awakened power had a broader range, your whole villa would've been destroyed. It's already half in ruins!"
He looked at Tony, who stood proudly in the center of the room, basking in the admiration of those around him like the moon surrounded by stars. Felix could only shake his head. Don't act so smug—we're still friends, remember?
"Haha, come on–! Awakening such a powerful superpower… even if the villa's trashed, it's worth it!" Tony was clearly thrilled with his new abilities—even willing to sacrifice a mansion for them.
He walked over to the group, but before anyone could ask questions, he raised his right hand. With thumb and middle finger positioned dramatically, he snapped.
Snap!
To everyone's amazement, the metal objects behind him sprang to life. Regardless of their size, they flew through the air like a flock of birds returning home.
The chaotic scene seemed like it would end in disaster, with collisions and crashes imminent. Yet somehow, nothing went wrong. The objects moved as if guided by invisible hands, finding their original positions and placing themselves back precisely as they had been.
Within ten seconds, the room looked nearly restored.
Only a few non-metallic items that Tony couldn't control still lay scattered on the floor—but it was a massive improvement compared to the wreckage from earlier.
Unfortunately, while everything looked back in place, that didn't mean it was fully functional. Instruments that had been tossed around might have been returned, but it was unclear whether they still worked.
"Tony, next time you want to show off, at least say something cool before snapping your fingers," Felix teased. "It makes the act more dramatic!"
Watching Tony strike a familiar pose, Felix couldn't help but think back to the climactic moment from Avengers: Endgame. He never imagined he'd see a real-life version of Tony Stark snapping his fingers up close.
But now that Felix existed in this world, he silently vowed—there would never be a repeat of that tragic moment. He would make sure of it.
"Oh? That's actually a great idea," Tony replied, intrigued. "I did feel like something was missing just before the snap… Maybe a line would've completed the moment!"
He paused, thinking.
"But what should I say? 'I am Iron Man'? No, I've already used that. Maybe just 'I am'? Hmm… still doesn't sound right."
He looked at Felix with a grin. "What do you think, Felix? Got a better line for me?"
"Stop, I was just kidding! You actually took it seriously?" Felix shook his head in disbelief. "And now you're seriously thinking it over? Come on, I'm not going to waste my brain on something that meaningless for you."
He sighed, exasperated. "Anyway, let's talk about what actually matters—your newly awakened superpower."
Felix was speechless. It was just a casual joke—does he really need to take it that seriously? Besides, let's be real… he's not going to get another chance to snap his fingers like that again, so what's the point in thinking about it?
Tony cleared his throat, suddenly switching to a more serious tone.
"Ahem, so my superpower, as you all saw, allows me to freely control metal. But what got me curious was: why metal?"
He paused, excited now.
"After digging deeper into the mechanics of my power, I realized—I'm not just controlling metal. What I'm really doing is manipulating the magnetic field around me! That's the real source of my power!"
"But that's not all. Controlling magnetic fields isn't just about moving metal. Think about it, electromagnetic force is one of the four fundamental forces of the universe!"
He began pacing slightly, animated as he spoke.
"With this ability, in theory, I could generate massive electric currents—firing attacks that are comparable to railguns! I could even produce EMP waves to disable all nearby electronics!"
Tony's voice rose with excitement as he continued imagining the possibilities.
"And if I develop it further—if I reach the level where I can manipulate atoms—then I could reshape chemical structures, transform matter, even bend light to render myself invisible!"
He wasn't done yet.
"Combine this with Einstein's unified field theory… and who knows? Maybe I could control gravitational fields too. I might even create wormholes, allowing instant travel through space!" Tony grinned and looked at Felix. "At that point, wouldn't my powers be pretty cool compared to yours?"
Tony was getting more and more carried away, his enthusiasm clearly unstoppable. While most of the people in the room didn't quite grasp the full technical details—except for Banner, who looked intrigued—they could all tell one thing:
This power Tony had awakened was no joke. It sounded like something that could destroy the universe with a single thought.
"Damn, Tony—you've really lost it!" Felix was stunned. "How did you get all that from just controlling metal?"
He couldn't help but mutter under his breath, trying to process Tony's wild claims.
"So... let me ask you seriously," Felix continued, raising an eyebrow, "can you actually do all that? Right now?"
Tony was pulled back to reality by the question. He coughed awkwardly and gave Felix a sidelong glance.
"Ahem... well, I just awakened this power. Of course I can't do all that yet."
Felix stared at him blankly. "So you're basically talking bullshit, do little."
He let out a sigh. "You act like a genius, and make the rest of us feel like idiots."
Tony chuckled and suddenly smiled with confidence.
"But I can already use magnetic fields to manipulate metal objects!"
As he said this, he raised both arms and slowly lifted off the ground, his body defying gravity as if magnetically suspended.
He floated several feet into the air before gently lowering himself back down.
"Okay, so I'm still working on full control," he admitted. "But with enough time and training, I believe I'll also be able to soar 10,000 meters into the sky—gliding through the sea of clouds!"
"And maybe… just maybe–, all those wild possibilities I mentioned earlier might actually become real."
He beamed with pride, clearly satisfied by everyone's stunned expressions.
Feeling smug, Tony added in a theatrical tone, "See? Who said I couldn't pull it off?"
Felix folded his arms and smirked.
"Yeah, right. Like I'm supposed to believe that."
Even though Tony's display had been impressive, Felix wasn't about to let him get away with pretending he could bend the laws of physics. Not yet, anyway.
