Mara did not waste time explaining herself. She pulled a stained board across the table, placed three bundles of herbs beside it, then pointed toward the corner.
"Stand there. If you touch anything without asking, you pay for it."
"Fair enough."
Morena moved aside while the old woman returned to cutting the stems. Her hands were slow compared to a fighter's, but there was no wasted movement. Each cut was made at a different length, and she removed the darker parts before placing the rest into separate bowls.

Mara glanced at her while she worked, but her hand did not falter for a moment.
"Is there any specific reason you intend to just watch? You think you can learn by just seeing something once?"
