Ignoring the panic that was swelling in her chest, Inez spoke in a low voice, "This is neither the time nor the place to talk about this matter."
"I think it is the right time to discuss this." Scarlet slid down the bars and sat down on the floor. Pulling the knees close to her chest, she glanced at her sister. "I don't think either of us is going to get out of this prison any time soon. So why not talk about it? At least that way we would be able to pass some time?"
"Are you even taking this seriously?" A mouse scurried past them, escaping through the gaps of the bars. Inez's eyes followed him, and for a few seconds, she wished she could shift into a mouse and run past these bars. But then she remembered that she had shifter restraints on her wrists; even if she could shift, the possibility of her shifting and escaping was close to none.
