Chapter 97 - Chapter 96: The Ancient Dou God, Lingxin

The surrounding magical beasts were all struck with terror and disbelief! Even the woman floating above the castle wore a grave expression.

"This place… this is my home in this world! Are you trying to destroy it?" she exclaimed, her voice both cold and frustrated.

With a sigh, her hands formed a series of intricate seals once more. In an instant, four colossal beams of light shot skyward from the four corners of the space, illuminating the entire area. As the brilliance surged and converged, they formed a massive, square-shaped protective array, completely sealing off the space inside.

Though she was only an energy avatar and far weaker than her true self, she still possessed some of her original powers. And among them—activating this World-Guarding Barrier Array—was one she could still use.

Inwardly, she felt a mix of anger and helplessness. She had once been a majestic figure, a supreme powerhouse of ancient times—an existence that had ascended to the realm of Dou God. Even though she was just a clone, she still carried that legacy. And yet now? Here she was, acting as a glorified maintenance worker, constantly worried her home would be destroyed. What a humiliating fate! She had been created to pass down a legacy… and somehow ended up here, cleaning up after chaos like a mortal.

Her eyes landed on Goku again, and she couldn't help but sigh. "Unbelievable… such a being exists in this world? Even my true self would probably be no match for him…"

She glanced toward the distant battlefield, her gaze falling on the Profound Nether Mystic Tortoise. "Why would that fool of a beast choose to challenge someone like him? Sigh… if this continues, I won't even have enough energy left to begin the inheritance…"

Meanwhile, in the center of the sky, the ten-thousand-foot-long sword beam came crashing down like divine judgment. Goku looked up, the corners of his mouth lifting into a faint smile.

"Finally going all out, huh?" he muttered. "Heh… just what I was waiting for. This little game's getting boring anyway."

With that, light gathered in his palm, forming a dazzling blade of divine radiance. Without hesitation, Goku launched himself upward, sword raised, to meet the descending blade head-on!

Sword light erupted like a tidal wave. In a clash of brilliance, the ten-thousand-foot sword beam was sliced apart bit by bit by the sword in Goku's hand. The blade of light disintegrated, transforming into motes of energy that vanished into the sky.

"H-How… how is that even possible?!" the Profound Nether Mystic Tortoise roared in disbelief. That had been its ultimate move—its strongest technique! Yet it had been torn to pieces by just a few swings of the opponent's sword?

Was the gap in strength really this vast?

"The game's over," Goku said calmly. "I'll be taking that Rank Nine magic core of yours now."

His figure blurred and reappeared in front of the tortoise's mountainous body. The glowing blade in his hand surged into a ten-thousand-foot arc, then slashed forward with a thunderous roar.

Boom!

The world went silent.

Dead silent.

Not a sound could be heard. Time itself seemed to freeze.

"N-No… Impossible…" the Profound Nether Mystic Tortoise muttered, its voice filled with utter disbelief. Its enormous body slowly split apart from the center. Crimson blood poured out in torrents like a dam breaking, flooding the land in rivers of red.

The surrounding magical beasts stood rooted in place, stunned as if petrified. None dared to breathe.

That was the Profound Nether Mystic Tortoise—an ancient beast known across history for its unmatched defense. A creature said to be impervious to harm. Yet here and now, it had been effortlessly cleaved in two by a single strike.

High above, the woman standing on multicolored clouds watched the golden figure in the sky, her face filled with profound shock.

That was no ordinary beast—it was the Profound Nether Mystic Tortoise, a creature whose defense was practically mythic. Even her true self, the real Dou God, would struggle to defeat it without first exploiting its weakness. Yet Goku had done it in an instant. With a single sword, he shattered the legend.

The blade in Goku's hand was no ordinary weapon. It was the Divine Light Sword—a sacred technique only accessible after ascending to the state of Super Saiyan God. Formed entirely from divine energy, it was beyond the defenses of any mortal beast.

His expression cold and indifferent, Goku slashed again—once, twice, three more times. The giant body of the Profound Nether Mystic Tortoise was instantly chopped into dozens of massive chunks. Each piece rained from the sky like meteors, crashing into the earth with thunderous force. Blood sprayed, forming lakes and rivers across the battlefield.

The sheer pressure, the surging energy—the entire world around them felt transformed. The very air became saturated with divine radiance, and the ambient spiritual energy skyrocketed to more than ten times its usual concentration!

To the magical beasts nearby, this was more than just blood and meat—it was a treasure trove, an otherworldly elixir. A single bite could elevate their cultivation by an entire Rank!

They all stared at the flesh with bloodshot eyes, trembling with greed… but not one of them dared step forward.

This was the prize of the supreme being in the sky. Who among them had the courage to claim it?

The rich scent of blood wafted through the air, making the beasts' eyes blaze red with hunger. Even in the fractured sky portal, the eyes of the Bloodrobe briefly flickered with desire.

What he craved wasn't the flesh—it was the few Rank Nine magic cores still inside the Profound Nether Mystic Tortoise. Especially the Nether Core, which had already stepped halfway into Rank Ten! A priceless treasure… enough to drive any being to madness.

But as his gaze turned toward the man standing in the sky, all that desire was buried by fear. This man is too terrifying. So terrifying that even the thought of resisting didn't dare take shape.

The entire battlefield remained frozen.

Then suddenly—one magical beast moved.

A streak of white light dashed out from within the castle, stopping beside the lake of blood. Its eyes gleamed with excitement and greed as it gazed at the divine flesh. It was none other than Moonlight, Goku's new pet and mount.

Only she dared to move. Only she dared to feast freely on this divine banquet.

Just as she was about to lower her head to eat, she felt a gentle tap on her skull. Instantly, her hackles rose, but as she turned and saw who it was, she quickly settled down and became meek and obedient.

"Master!" she said sweetly, eyes sparkling with reverence and pride.

"These scraps are filthy," Goku said mildly, his tone casual yet carrying an unquestionable authority. "Don't eat random things."

"But…" Moonlight hesitated, clearly reluctant. This was divine flesh! If she could eat even a little, she might evolve on the spot!

"What's there to be reluctant about?" Goku gave her another light tap. "Since you're following me, you'll need to drop those beastly habits. Try to act more like a proper being."

He glanced toward the battlefield and added, "Besides, there are four Rank Nine magic cores… and I already took the herb garden earlier. Do you really think you'll lack opportunities to evolve?"

Moonlight's eyes lit up with excitement and gratitude. She nuzzled against Goku affectionately. "I knew Master was the best! Um… Master, can I have that Nether Core?"

"I'm saving it for alchemy," Goku replied flatly. "You'll get your share when the time comes."

"Alchemy?" Moonlight's ears perked up immediately. Pills refined from Rank Nine magic cores would undoubtedly be at least Grade Nine—far more precious than the cores themselves! Her heart surged with anticipation.

Under her eager gaze, Goku retrieved the four magic cores—Nether, Ao Yun, Tian Fang, and Yun Que—and stored them in his World Ring.

Then, turning to the surviving magical beasts nearby, he said indifferently, "Since you're here already, I won't let you leave empty-handed. If you want the flesh, go ahead and split it amongst yourselves."

Boom!

The magical beasts erupted in cheers, bowing respectfully to Goku before surging toward the remains like a tidal wave. In the blink of an eye, the area was filled with the sounds of chewing and snarling.

Moments later, a beast glowed with radiant light—its power surging, breaking through into the next Rank right before everyone's eyes. The others, driven mad with hunger and ambition, devoured the divine flesh with even more frenzy. In just a short while, several Rank Six magical beasts had broken through to Rank 7!

Goku led Moonlight to the front of the castle. Seeing the excitement written all over Nalan Yanran and the others' faces, he gave them a slight nod.

Then, tilting his head to glance toward the top of the castle, he said casually, "Aren't you coming down to chat?"

A gentle, ethereal laugh echoed from above—graceful and refined. The air stirred with fragrance as a beautiful and slightly translucent silhouette slowly appeared before them.

"To be invited by someone like you… it's truly an honor," the woman said softly.

The woman before them had an almost surreal presence. Her beauty was unmatched, her aura elegant and transcendent. She looked like a divine empress descended from the heavens.

Goku's eyes gleamed. This woman was truly exceptional—peerless in appearance, temperament, and grace. Unfortunately, she was no longer truly alive. She had long since broken through the void and ascended to a higher realm. What stood before them now was only an energy clone, left behind to guard her legacy across the ages.

Nalan Yanran, Yun Yun, and the others were visibly nervous and overwhelmed. After all, this was a Dou God, a figure of legend! And now they were standing so close to her—it was surreal.

But oddly enough, standing next to Goku, the sense of pressure seemed to fade.

Yes, Lingxin was ethereal and awe-inspiring—like a fairy who had descended to the mortal world. But Goku… Goku just seemed easygoing, relaxed, like a kind man from the neighborhood. His casual demeanor made them feel strangely at ease, even in the presence of a Dou God.

"Since you're all guests from afar, would you mind coming inside for a proper talk?" Lingxin offered with a gentle smile.

"That would be great," Goku replied with a chuckle. He didn't lose himself to her beauty—though he appreciated it.

Lingxin nodded with a graceful smile. With a wave of her delicate hand, the space around them rippled slightly, and in the next moment, the group was transported into a spacious and bright hall.

The room was elegantly decorated, every detail refined and noble. Even the flowers arranged around the chamber weren't ordinary—they were all Grade Seven medicinal herbs. A faint herbal aroma lingered in the air, calming the mind and refreshing the spirit.

Nalan Yanran took a deep breath, visibly affected. The herbal fragrance cleared her thoughts and soothed her fluctuating emotions. Her Dou Qi began to stir uncontrollably within her, and before she knew it, she had entered a meditative state. Her breathing slowed, and she sat down cross-legged, entering deep cultivation naturally.

Seeing her disciple enter seclusion so suddenly, Yun Yun's face lit up with joy. Lingxin was slightly surprised at first, but then smiled knowingly.

"She had the weakest foundation among you all. So of course, she reaped the most benefit here. Everything she's seen and experienced on this journey might be more than she could've imagined in a lifetime. With the help of the Spirit-Calming Jade Fragrant Blossom, her heart found peace, and her insights crystallized. Breaking through is only natural… it also proves she has quite decent talent."

"You flatter her far too much," Yun Yun replied modestly, though pride and satisfaction were clearly written all over her face.

Lingxin chuckled softly, her elegance unshaken. "Let's not disturb her. Why don't we continue our talk in the next room?"

The group exchanged glances and nodded. Leaving Nalan Yanran in her meditative state, they followed Lingxin into the adjoining chamber.

Lingxin glanced at them with a touch of apology in her expression. "I must apologize. I've only recently awakened, so I have little with which to entertain guests. Besides… you've already taken my entire medicinal garden, haven't you?" Her tone was gentle, but clearly held a trace of resignation.

Of course—who wouldn't feel a little annoyed? That herb garden had likely been her life's work… and now it was gone, taken wholesale by Goku.

"That's nothing," Goku said nonchalantly. "Why don't we introduce ourselves properly? I'm Goku. Just call me that." He gestured to the others one by one. "This is Yun Yun, and the girl in cultivation back there is Nalan Yanran. This wolf is my pet—Moonlight."

His gaze landed on the shriveled-up figure off to the side and waved a hand casually. "As for that guy… you can ignore him."

"Haha… Lord Goku, you're too funny," Gu He said with a dry laugh. He wouldn't dare get offended at this point. Instead, he politely bowed to Lingxin and introduced himself. "My name is Gu He. To meet a legendary figure such as yourself is truly the honor of a lifetime."

Lingxin waved her hand gently, her smile serene. "In the presence of Lord Goku, I wouldn't dare call myself a legendary figure. I am Lingxin. It is my great fortune to have witnessed your divine might today. Lord Goku… I suspect your cultivation has long since surpassed the level of a Dou God. Why have you not broken through the void and ascended to the upper realm?"

"Surpassed Dou God?!"

"The upper realm?!"

Yun Yun and Gu He both gasped, shock spreading across their faces. Had they just stumbled onto an earth-shattering secret?

"Eh, I was just bored," Goku shrugged. "So I thought I'd wander around."

But to Lingxin, such a casual response was anything but normal. She couldn't help but smile bitterly. "Wandering, huh… It seems your realm truly is far beyond mine."

She glanced subtly at Yun Yun and Gu He, then chose not to pursue the topic.

'To move freely between the lower and upper realms... just what kind of existence was this man?'

"Since you're here," Goku said bluntly, "why don't you just give me all the treasures in this place? I'm not in the mood to search for them myself."

Lingxin froze for a moment. Then she gave him a look that was equal parts helpless and amused.

"Someone like you still has your eyes on my meager belongings? These were meant for my successor. Could you not make things difficult for me?"

"Successor? Even better." Goku grinned. "Why don't you give your inheritance to me? Or better yet, to my wives. They're just ordinary people. My own cultivation method doesn't suit them, but yours might. That way, your legacy will live on for generations."

Lingxin hesitated, clearly torn. Giving her legacy to someone connected with a supreme powerhouse like Goku was undoubtedly a wise choice—it could ensure her techniques would be preserved eternally. But the problem lay elsewhere…

Her original self had left behind strict spiritual restrictions: the inheritance could only be granted after her clone conducted tests and gave approval.

As she considered this, her form flickered—the energy sustaining her growing thinner. A faint sigh escaped her lips.

"It seems… my time is almost up. How unfortunate. My legacy… may end with me."

"What?!" Gu He exclaimed. His face filled with regret. That was a Dou God's inheritance—gone, just like that?

"Is there really no other way?" Even Yun Yun was visibly upset, unwilling to let such an opportunity slip by.

Lingxin shook her head with a heavy sigh. "I used too much energy to repair the space… then activated the World-Guarding Array. I barely have enough left to last even one more minute."

Yun Yun immediately turned to Goku, her gaze accusatory. All of this was your fault!

Goku raised an eyebrow. "What are you looking at me for? It's just energy, right? No big deal."

As he spoke, his eyes began to change. The Eyes of God opened—twin six-pointed stars rotated slowly within them. A pure white six-pointed magic array appeared at Lingxin's feet, enveloping her fading figure in a warm glow.

The soft white radiance gently poured into her body, stabilizing her energy. Her previously illusory form began to grow more and more solid. Within moments—she had regained a near-physical state.

A miracle had unfolded before their eyes.

Yet none of the others even looked surprised. In fact, they seemed used to it by now.

"That guy… always pulling off impossible feats. We're numb to it already," Yun Yun muttered with a shake of her head. Though her words were casual, her eyes were filled with wonder as they watched Goku's glowing gaze.

Lingxin looked at her own body, stunned. She raised her head to look at Goku with admiration and awe.

"I didn't expect you to have such a divine technique… Truly astonishing. Very well, to express my gratitude, I'll grant you one chance to receive my inheritance. Now tell me—who do you wish to receive it?"

"But I must make it clear—it can only be passed to a woman."

Gu He, who had just been perking up, instantly deflated.

Goku shot him a sideways glance.

Gu He coughed awkwardly and turned away.

Goku looked back at Lingxin and frowned. "Wait… you still need to test them first? Can't you just hand over the inheritance directly? Wouldn't that be simpler?"
