Chapter 401: Planning the Fusion of Five Elements
The greatest advantage of Sharingan genjutsu is that it does not require hand seals. This is like Ogura Saki's unsealed Wind Release, which allows her to release a Vacuum Sphere from her mouth without seals. However, even this unsealed Vacuum Sphere requires a "brewing" period.
After judging the speed at which Sōkai cast the genjutsu, Ishiro checked its power. With his Yin Release having reached the third stage, his spiritual power was extremely strong. Sōkai's genjutsu naturally had no effect. Not only was Sōkai's mere C-rank genjutsu useless, but even the B-rank genjutsu cast by Katsumata and Natsuki, two Quasi-Jonin who specialized in Yin Release, had no effect on him at all.
Ishiro's spiritual strength was very high; he could easily see and dispel the chakra that Sōkai had placed on his soul. But he did not do so. He was carefully judging the power of Sōkai's genjutsu.
After a while, when Sōkai's genjutsu had completely dissipated, Ishiro said, "There's not much of a problem with your casting of the genjutsu, but there are many problems with maintaining it afterwards."
Next, from the perspective of a target, Ishiro carefully analyzed the pros and cons of his genjutsu for Sōkai.
Sōkai didn't know that such an opportunity was extremely rare. Even if he were to receive personal instruction from Fugaku Uchiha, he would not receive this kind of treatment. What Fugaku could teach Sōkai were various experiences in casting genjutsu, but he did not possess Ishiro's Kage-level spiritual strength from pure Yin Release. Of course, this was not to say that Ishiro's guidance was better than that of the patriarch of the Uchiha clan, but that the direction of his guidance was very unique.
This was something Ishiro had previously tested on Natsuki, Katsumata, and the other genjutsu ninja before disbanding the Mōryō tentacle research group. The effect had been very good. Under Ishiro's unique perspective, many of the shortcomings in their genjutsu were clearly visible. With his detailed analysis and description, the genjutsu of the research group members had all improved considerably.
Sōkai's talent for genjutsu was actually average; or rather, his talent in all aspects was average. But Ishiro's unique guidance was of great help to him. In addition, having activated his Sharingan early, with this cheat-like boost, his progress could still be clearly felt.
Along the way, using the rest time, Sōkai had completely mastered the only genjutsu he knew. Now, if a genin were to be caught in his genjutsu, it would not be easy for them to break free through sheer willpower alone. Of course, if that genin had learned the method of disrupting their own chakra to break a genjutsu, that would be another matter.
A few days later, the massive convoy finally arrived in the Land of Demons.
The new Daimyo of the Land of Demons, Miroku, was already waiting for Ishiro at the location Iwagakure had chosen for the branch.
Miroku was not like the clueless Koyuki Kazahana of the Land of Snow. Having been a Priestess for over a decade, she understood the ways of the world. Upon hearing that Ishiro would personally supervise the construction of the branch, she decided to lower her own status and welcome him personally. Miroku was well aware that although she was a Daimyo, Ishiro was the Kage of a hidden village allied with three countries; his status was far above hers.
Ishiro was not surprised to see Miroku. The fact that she could offer to hand over all the internal affairs of the Land of Demons to Iwagakure meant that she was no fool. She was, at the very least, a qualified head of state. At that time, Iwagakure had not yet annexed the Land of Demons, but her offer to hand over all power to Ishiro, viewed from another angle, was a tactic of retreating in order to advance. In their cooperation, the Land of Demons was in an absolutely weak position, so Miroku had simply given up on confronting Iwagakure and completely placed herself in a position of weakness to win the goodwill of Iwagakure's leader.
Ishiro didn't really care about this, but he still had to respond to her show of goodwill.
After greeting Miroku, Ishiro's gaze fell on the little Shion in her arms, who was struggling with all her might to break free. Little Shion was very excited to see Little Saiken and Little Chōmei, who she had been separated from for a while. She was shouting their names indistinctly and stretching out her little hands, trying to grab the two Tailed Beasts.
Ishiro said to Miroku, "Daimyo Miroku, I would like to take Shion as my disciple. I wonder what you think?"
Miroku's eyes lit up. She knew that her show of weakness had pleased the Tsuchikage before her. So she hurriedly said, "This is Shion's honor. I will agree to this on her behalf."
Ishiro gave Miroku a smile.
The Mōryō within little Shion's body had not yet been completely dealt with, and there was a risk of it rampaging. Little Shion was somewhat like a Jinchuriki. As the Tsuchikage, it was only natural for Ishiro to bring Shion under his control.
Miroku was very excited. Holding little Shion, she tried to teach her to call him "teacher." But in little Shion's eyes, there were only the two little Tailed Beasts; this person, Ishiro, was completely absent.
Ishiro did not delay for too long. He let the two Tailed Beasts play with Shion, while he himself began to plan the layout of the various institutions of the branch on the selected empty land. Then, the massive team he had brought began to move in an orderly manner. The construction of the Land of Demons branch had officially begun.
And Riori Uzumaki and the other Anbu were also sent out by Ishiro to completely clear out the rogue ninja, wanderers, and bandits within the Land of Demons.
After the matters were arranged, Ishiro himself became idle again. Bella had been very thoughtful and had even appointed someone to coordinate the overall situation, so that Ishiro could be a hands-off boss with peace of mind.
With nothing to do, Ishiro gathered his three disciples and began a training session.
"Sōkai, your next training is very clear. While building your foundation, you will continue to familiarize yourself with your Sharingan. The focus will be on improving your Sharingan genjutsu," Ishiro said.
"Yes," Sōkai's confident voice quickly rang out. After Ishiro's guidance on the way here, his Sharingan genjutsu had improved by leaps and bounds. He was now full of confidence in himself.
Ishiro continued, "Chiga, Ayumi, you two, while consolidating your foundation, will begin to practice chakra control. Start with tree climbing and water walking."
"Chiga, besides these two, you also need to train your spiritual power. I will teach you a sensory ninjutsu. Your goal is to learn this jutsu in a short amount of time."
"Ayumi, you cannot neglect your talent for drawing. I have a task for you. On the premise of not affecting your other two training items, think about how to infuse your chakra into your drawings."
"Yes," the two replied in unison.
After the three disciples began to train, Ishiro started to have a headache. Chiga's sensory talent was easy to handle. Sensation could also be considered a Yin Release ability, so he could guide her with ease. But Sasagawa Ayumi's drawing talent was different. For her, the most suitable ninjutsu was the specialty of Konoha Root's Sai from the original story: the Super Beast Scroll. Sai had also shown his face a few times during the Fourth War and was also at the elite jonin level, and even a strong one among them. Moreover, the Super Beast Scroll also had sealing capabilities, so its potential was still great. Ishiro felt that Sai probably hadn't even developed this ninjutsu to its extreme. So, for an ordinary ninja like Sasagawa Ayumi, this jutsu still had a very bright future.
But unfortunately, Ishiro did not have this jutsu. The relationship between Iwagakure and Konoha was very tense now, and it was basically impossible to exchange for the desired ninjutsu from them. Tsunade was not so foolish as to aid an enemy. Danzō didn't care about selling out the village's interests, but Ishiro didn't have anything that Danzō would fancy and that he was willing to trade.
That left Orochimaru as the only way for Ishiro to obtain the jutsu. Ishiro believed that as long as he could offer something that would move Orochimaru, it would certainly not be difficult to obtain the Super Beast Scroll. He had a White Zetsu clone, but he had never had the chance to trade with Orochimaru. Now that Orochimaru had left the Akatsuki and was going to establish a hidden village in the Land of Whirlpools, Ishiro really wanted to go and meet with him.
Unfortunately, the high council would not agree to him going to the Land of Whirlpools at this time.
Since he couldn't get the Super Beast Scroll in the short term, Ishiro could only think of other ways, such as the Kurama clan's method of integrating painting into genjutsu. Ishiro had once captured a member of the Kurama clan in the Land of Fire and had interrogated them. He had also deliberately shown a flaw to lure them into using their unique ability. Katsumata had learned some small tricks regarding the five senses from that Kurama clan member back then. In addition to these, that person had also used a bit of a magical genjutsu that changed the environment through painting. Unfortunately, Iwagakure had not figured out the principle and had only recorded some insights based on half-copying and half-guessing.
Ishiro had naturally seen these materials before and recalled them with a little thought. He planned to organize this information to serve as Sasagawa Ayumi's early learning materials.
After planning the short-term training content for his three disciples, Ishiro also had to start thinking about his own path forward.
His ultimate goal had not changed since he was very young: to fuse the five elements and achieve an evolution in his life level.
To fuse the five elements, there was a major prerequisite: to raise the proficiency of all five elements to a certain height. This, Ishiro had achieved.
Porcelain Release, Storm Release, Blaze Release—these three Kekkei Genkai encompassed all five elements. The ability to develop a Kekkei Genkai showed that his mastery of those elements was already very high, having reached the point of qualitative change.
It could be said that after so many years, the first step of Ishiro's ultimate goal was finally complete.
As for how to walk the path ahead, he would face several different choices.
The first choice was to continue developing different Kekkei Genkai combinations. There were ten combinations of five elements. Ishiro had combined three: water and earth, water and lightning, and fire and wind. There were still seven left: water and fire, water and wind, fire and earth, fire and lightning, lightning and earth, lightning and wind, and wind and earth.
If he really completed this step and developed ten Kekkei Genkai, then the subsequent steps would be much easier. Whether it was fusing three, four, or even the final five elements, it would be much smoother than developing them directly.
But this process was too long. Ishiro couldn't afford to wait. And during this process, his strength improvement would not be very obvious. If he failed, or if he ran out of time, then he could only become a background character in that battle of the gods.
Seven elements. If he could really calculate the time it would take based on the time it took to develop the previous three, then he could barely accept it.
But among the next seven combinations, some were too difficult, and even he had no clue. For example, lightning and earth, and wind and lightning.
To fuse two opposing elements was simply too difficult.
Ishiro also couldn't calculate how much time it would take to completely develop all ten Kekkei Genkai.
