Chapter 400: Constructing the Land of Demons Branch
As for the matter of Sunagakure, Ishiro did not plan to pay it too much attention. Instead, he asked about Orochimaru's establishment of a hidden village.
"Ikura, has Orochimaru's village been established yet? Where is its specific location?" Ishiro asked, looking at the map.
Ikura did not answer his question. Instead, he said with a blank expression, "Whether he has finished building it or not, don't you even think about going to the Land of Whirlpools. At this time, the nerves of all parties in the ninja world are still taut. Don't give anyone an opportunity."
"To prevent any accidents, I have already specifically notified Lord Third, who is traveling outside, to be careful. You shouldn't go out and add to the chaos. What if Konoha finds out you've gone to Uzushiogakure alone and deals with you the same way you dealt with Jiraiya?"
Ishiro sighed inwardly. He was becoming more and more humbled in front of the village's high command. The difficulty of leaving the village had more than doubled compared to before.
His eyes darted around, and he said, "Ahem, how is the site selection for the Land of Demons branch coming along? When the Land of Snow branch was being built, the Third personally supervised it. I'll supervise the construction of the Land of Demons branch."
"The Land of Demons is closer to the Land of Wind, so the security requirements are higher. I don't trust the people below. I plan to make another trip to the Land of Demons myself."
Hearing Ishiro's straight-faced excuse, Ikura sighed in his heart. There wasn't much the high command could do about Ishiro's restless heart. They could only respond to his playful antics with indifference. It was just that this tactic was becoming less and less effective; Ishiro's skin was getting thicker by the day.
Since Ishiro had found a legitimate reason, he certainly couldn't be stopped. So, Ikura said, "You can go to the Land of Demons, but you must take a ninja who can summon sharks. You must maintain smooth communication with the village."
This was a small matter, and Ishiro immediately agreed. With Ikura's consent, persuading the other advisors was much simpler.
A few days later, the site selection for the Land of Demons branch was completed, and Ishiro led a large group of ninja to the country to build the new facility.
Having had experience from the first time, Bella had assigned many professional personnel to Ishiro's team and had also allocated all the materials needed for the construction in one go.
Among the team, Ishiro also saw Yuran Kawazoe and Akino Atsumi, who were there as special talents. One was responsible for the branch's barrier setup, and the other was responsible for the transportation array.
The scale of the team this time was very large. Iwagakure had directly assigned the ninja who had been responsible for suppressing bandits in the Land of Demons to the group. Not counting the transport personnel, there were several hundred ninja.
Ishiro stood at the village gate, nodded at Ikura and the others, and then set off with the team.
Since he was going on a long journey with little danger, Ishiro naturally had to bring along his three new disciples. Of course, the official reason was that they were on an escort mission.
Standing beside Ishiro, watching the three of them—Sōkai, Chiga, and Sasagawa Ayumi—bustling about with great energy, Akino Atsumi and Yuran Kawazoe exchanged a glance, both complaining endlessly about their teacher in their hearts.
However, it wasn't long before they discovered that one more person had joined the busy crowd. No, it was a group—a group of Riori Uzumakis.
Riori had also been assigned to the team by Ishiro this time. However, her main task was not to escort this massive convoy but to travel to the Land of Demons and then participate in the bandit suppression mission there. So, Riori had nothing to do at the moment. Seeing the three genin seriously completing their tasks, she very consciously joined in.
Akino helplessly pulled over a Riori and asked, "Are you the real one?"
The captured Riori was very happy to see Akino. She went forward and hugged her, rubbing her head against Akino's body with great force, overjoyed.
Akino sighed and asked again, "Riori, are you the real one?"
Riori shook her head as if it were a matter of course. "I'm not!"
Akino was speechless, thinking to herself: You're a shadow clone, so why are you hugging me so affectionately?
"Have your real body come over." After speaking, Akino clenched her fist and gave the Riori in front of her a hard knock on the stomach.
Poof~
The Riori in front of her immediately disappeared. A moment later, the real Riori came running over to Akino in a flurry. Her joyous voice arrived before she did: "Akino, you're here too!"
Akino sighed. "Riori, aren't you in the Anbu? Don't you need to hide your identity?"
"No need! Our mission hasn't started yet," Riori said.
Akino was even more speechless. You're not even on a mission, yet you're working so hard? But she didn't tell Riori to dispel her multiple shadow clones. The girl had boundless energy; it didn't matter if she wanted to do a little more work.
The two had seen each other less since Riori had joined the Anbu. Since it was a rare occasion for them to be together, Akino planned to have a good chat with her and, while she was at it, teach this silly girl a thing or two.
But Akino's plans were doomed to fail. Riori's attention was soon attracted by Little Saiken and Little Chōmei.
After the incident at the shrine, Riori hadn't had a chance to fight with the two Tailed Beasts. Seeing them again, and with no mission of her own, how could she still care about Akino?
Watching Riori run over to Ishiro's side in a rush to arrange a fight with the two Tailed Beasts, Akino had deep doubts about the effectiveness of their teacher's plan to send Riori to the Anbu for training.
Ishiro's mood at the moment was similar to Akino's. Although Riori was right beside him chatting with Little Saiken and the others, he seriously suspected whether the silly girl had even seen him.
Ishiro thought for a moment, walked to Riori's side, and said with a broad smile, "Little Riori."
Hearing someone call her name, Riori looked up in confusion, then said with another burst of joy, "Master Ishiro, you're here too!"
Hearing this, the smile on Ishiro's face became even more amiable. "Riori, come, come, let me teach you a ninjutsu."
Upon hearing this, the brilliant smile on Riori's face froze. Why? Why do I have to learn ninjutsu again all of a sudden? Hasn't our squad been disbanded? Haven't I joined the Anbu?
Ishiro took out a Great Fireball ninjutsu scroll and forcibly stuffed it into her hands. At the same time, he said very solemnly, "Little Riori, this jutsu is the unique secret technique of the number one clan in the ninja world, the Uchiha clan. You must learn it well."
Riori held the scroll, looking at Ishiro in a daze. Suddenly, she felt the whole world slowly moving away from her. The only things left by her side were coldness and darkness.
Until, Akino, unable to bear it, came over and took her hand.
Riori came back to her senses. Seeing that it was Akino, she immediately threw herself into her arms and burst into tears. While crying, she pointed a finger at Ishiro, but because she was sobbing too much, she couldn't say a single word.
The girl was truly crying her heart out. A single sentence from her demon teacher had made her original good mood completely disappear. It was as if she had returned to the tragic days of constantly learning ninjutsu in Squad Five.
Akino gently patted her back. "Riori, I know, I know. Let's go analyze how to practice the jutsu together."
Riori nodded, finally managing to stop her tears.
Then, the two of them went to the side to study the Great Fireball scroll Ishiro had given her. Akino hadn't learned Fire Release, but she had no choice. With Riori's intelligence, if she didn't help, she probably wouldn't even be able to understand the scroll.
After the silly girl finally understood how to practice the ninjutsu with Akino's help, Ishiro came over and had her create shadow clones to practice together.
Soon, Riori was happy again.
Every time the massive convoy took a break, one could always see this speechless scene.
A hundred Riori Uzumakis would surround the temporary camp and start a competition to see who could learn the Great Fireball Technique first.
Riori was having a great time playing with her own shadow clones, giving the impression that a group of Ninja Academy students were collectively practicing ninjutsu.
Akino felt that her earlier comfort had been a complete waste of breath.
The exuberant energy that Riori displayed made everyone who saw it envious.
Especially Sōkai. Desperately wanting to improve his strength quickly, he really wanted to train like Riori. But the Uchiha clan was not known for its chakra reserves. Amidst his envy, he could only watch.
Seeing Sōkai's expression, Ishiro didn't try to enlighten him. Instead, he asked about his Sharingan training. The magical Uchiha. They don't need their thoughts to be straightened out.
"Master Ishiro, I have already become proficient in the general functions of the Sharingan. In my spars with Chiga and Ayumi, I can already use the Sharingan to predict their taijutsu attacks."
Ishiro nodded. "Very good. In the future, whenever I have free time, I will create a shadow clone to practice with your Sharingan."
Sōkai nodded, his eyes full of anticipation.
Ishiro then asked, "How is your practice of Sharingan genjutsu?"
Sōkai said, "The genjutsu that Clan Head Fugaku gave me has all sorts of levels. I have only learned one genjutsu that can be used with a single tomoe."
Ishiro nodded. He was well aware of Sōkai's talent. To be able to learn a genjutsu no weaker than C-rank in this period of time was considered quite hardworking.
After thinking for a moment, Ishiro formed a one-handed seal, created a circle of earth walls around the two of them, and then said, "Use your Sharingan genjutsu on me."
Sōkai nodded, activated his Sharingan, and looked directly into Ishiro's eyes, casting the genjutsu.
Ishiro first nodded at the speed with which Sōkai cast the genjutsu. Although it was still a bit unrefined, the probability of an average genin falling for it was very high. It already had some of the feel of the Sharingan genjutsu seen in the original story.
Sharingan genjutsu also needed to be charged; it wasn't instantaneous from the start. It was just that in the original story, the only remaining Uchiha were a few with cheats, all of whom could cast genjutsu with just a glare. That was what gave the false impression of it being instantaneous.
