Chapter 95 - The Doctor’s Visit

The next day, the relatives who needed to leave had all departed, and the large house was left with just the five family members and the servants, making it feel much quieter.

At the breakfast table, there were only three people eating.

To maintain the "I was so tired from yesterday afternoon that I couldn't get up at all" setting, Bai Ningning slept soundly until 10:30 AM, enjoying a leisurely rest.

Qin Yue also slept comfortably, holding onto the warm and soft Bai Ningning, and unknowingly dozed off until 10:00 AM. In short, by the time these two individuals—one big and one small—came out, lunch was almost ready to be served.

"Good morning, Yueyue," Qin Mom greeted her, "You finally woke up."

"Mm," Qin Yue reached out to link her arm with Bai Ningning's, "We were a bit tired and slept a little longer."

Finally, Bai Ningning had a chance to feel tired; it was quite a rare occurrence, and Qin Yue wished she could frame it as a badge of achievement to hang on the wall.

Qin Mom looked at Bai Ningning with suspicion; the girl was still as beautiful and cool as ever, with a hidden arrogance beneath her seemingly obedient exterior.

She didn't look like someone who had been tired; could her silly daughter have been deceived?

"Let's eat first," Qin Dad called to them, "You haven't had breakfast, so just eat something to fill your stomach."

Bai Ningning took her seat first and greeted the girl across from her: "Qin Xin, good afternoon."

Qin Xin nodded gently: "Ningning, good afternoon."

The girl's demeanor had softened even more, but aside from Qin Dad and Qin Mom, no one else noticed.

Oh no, she thought, after that little devil's operation at lunch yesterday, her favorability rating has increased again.

Qin Dad tugged at her sleeve and gave her a knowing look, indicating that this was a good thing, not a bad one.

All good things.

As everyone sat down, Qin Yue and Bai Ningning, who hadn't had breakfast, were the first to start eating. Qin Yue scanned the table, got up, and ladled a bowl of chicken soup, placing it in front of Bai Ningning.

"It's stewed with angelica and red dates, it's good for you."

Bai Ningning silently glanced at Qin Yue, thinking, who do you look down on? Do I need to be replenished?

However, feeling the loving gazes from Qin Dad and Qin Mom made her feel a bit strange, a kind of odd warmth.

Is this what they call showing off love in front of others?

Bai Ningning didn't quite understand these things; in her previous life, she didn't even have friends, and now she had suddenly leveled up, feeling a bit at a loss.

But she was enjoying it.

"You should replenish yourself too," she casually picked a chicken leg from her bowl and placed it in Qin Yue's bowl, "Otherwise, it wouldn't be fair if one of us gains and the other loses."

"Heh," Qin Yue said leisurely, "People do grow, don't be too confident."

Despite her words, the corners of her mouth couldn't help but curve up.

Qin Dad said to Qin Mom: "Their relationship is quite good."

Qin Mom didn't refute, just smiled as well. This kind of life was quite nice.

Bai Ningning was lightly laughing, Qin Yue was smirking, and Qin Dad and Qin Mom were smiling with satisfaction. Everyone was very happy, as if no one was hurt... only a world where one person was hurt had been completed.

"By the way, Ningning," Qin Dad suddenly remembered something and felt a bit awkward, "Sorry, about that matter... Yue, did you tell her?"

"I told her," Qin Yue replied, "I mentioned it as soon as I could last night."

Qin Dad said apologetically: "The relatives' request to arrange for the girls from those families to join the company is really hard to refuse."

He had no choice; yesterday a few people had pulled him aside, pouring drink after drink, talking about family ties, camaraderie during financial crises, and friendships spanning generations...

What could he do?

Qin Xin, still a bit confused, chimed in: "What's wrong with arranging them in the company?"

She had just gone through great joy and sorrow and hadn't fully recovered, so her thinking was a bit slow.

"It's nothing," Qin Yue casually replied, "You wouldn't understand, but it's not a big deal."

She thought, her little sister really is straightforward; straightforward girls obviously wouldn't understand the intricacies of this matter.

Qin Mom nudged Qin Dad: "It's rare for the family to sit together for a meal, let's talk about something good."

As she spoke, she looked at Qin Yue: "Yueyue, your friend is coming this afternoon; she said she has come to see you."

Qin Yue put down the small bite of chicken leg she had taken: "Which friend?"

"That doctor, Xiao Chen."

"Oh, Doctor Chen," Bai Ningning spoke up first, "That's great."

Qin Mom asked in surprise: "You know her too?"

"Mm... I met her the last time she came to the house," Bai Ningning chose her words carefully, "She's a very capable doctor."

She felt embarrassed to mention that she had consulted her for psychological issues.

But just saying that made Qin Mom's gaze towards her become strange.

Being capable should be evident from treating Qin Yue's mental issues. But the problem is, Qin Yue's mental issues were entirely because of you.

Forget it, since you all seem warm today, I won't bring it up.

After the meal, it was quiet nap time. Bai Ningning turned back to lie on the bed and continued playing on her phone. Qin Yue tidied up a bit and went to the quietest room in the west wing.

Doctor Chen was already sitting there.

"You came at an unfortunate time, just a bit late; lunch has already been cleared," Qin Yue greeted her, "Would you like some afternoon tea?"

"No, the important matters come first," Dr. Chen adjusted her glasses and flipped through the medical record book. "I came specifically to check on your current situation... your psychological situation."

Qin Yue was slightly taken aback. "My current psychological situation is great, there's absolutely no problem."

"That's what you think," Dr. Chen rolled her eyes. "The problem has always been there... Anyway, let's talk."

The last time she saw the doctor, the issues weren't completely resolved. Dr. Chen knew well that Qin Yue had only found a somewhat incorrect path. Two months had passed, and she wondered how far Qin Yue had gone and what stage she was at.

"Alright," Qin Yue leisurely sat down on the small sofa. "You ask."

"First question, how do you feel?"

"You asked that last time, and I answered, I feel great."

"No, no, no, I'm not asking about how you felt after that day," Dr. Chen clarified. "I'm asking how you feel after these two months, especially regarding her feelings or views?"

Qin Yue thought for a moment and sat up straight. "How should I put it? It's a bit strange."

Dr. Chen perked up. "What's strange about it?"

"You must have communicated with her before," Qin Yue said. "You know her way of speaking and her habits."

"Mm..." Dr. Chen's expression darkened. "Impressive, to say the least."

She had seen countless patients with psychological issues, had countless conversations, but had never encountered a girl who spoke so... lacking in tact.

"Right?" Qin Yue couldn't help but chuckle. "Logically speaking, being with her should either make me furious or leave me feeling frustrated to the point of heartache. Sometimes she does indeed make me quite angry. But overall, I feel... a bit sweet."

Dr. Chen was taken aback, her hand holding the pen trembled slightly.

"Huh?"
