Chapter 11 - Silent Magic Lessons

Author's Notes: Yes I know in canon, Sylphiette got her iconic white hoodie on her fifth birthday from her father. But in this Mushoku Tensei fanfiction AU timeline, she spends time with Rudeus much earlier in the story than in the original timeline.

Even the smallest ripples of time can have drastic effects or consequences, which will happen throughout this series. For example, you all know how Randolph Marianne is a terrible cook.

In this Mushoku Tensei fanfiction story, he eventually becomes a great chef due to Oldeus using the "Dragon God Reincarnation Technique." Which altered the timeline a little bit and affected specific people and objects.

Sylphy recently turned four years old in the autumn season. I became four years old, too. Meanwhile, my day-to-day life hadn't changed either.

In the morning, I learned magic from Roxy and in the afternoon, I did my annually scheduled exercise routine with Paul as usual.

But one fateful day when I was being tutored by Roxy and Paul. Sylphy started walking around outside alone. Then she was suddenly attacked and ostracized by Somal and the punkass local children.

From what I heard from Sylphy's parents; the children started throwing mud at her and she defended herself by using a simple water ball and wind sphere spells. Until they retaliated in full force, hurled small rocks, and chased her around with wooden sticks.

Sylphy explained that she ran away because it was the first time she had been attacked by a bunch of boys. Even though I taught her truncated spell-casting, attack magic, healing magic, and detoxification magic for all the beginner spells and some of the intermediate spells.

I even helped her increase her accuracy creating simple earth figurines that are the size of children for target practice and taught her how to dodge my magic spells too. I guess even with all the experience, it doesn't compare to the real thing.

Visualizing those rotten brats bullying my innocent sweet goddess of love like that made me furious😡. Those children are a bunch of damn cowards trying to ambush her when I'm not around to protect her.

It even made Mr.Laws blood boil, due to his daughter suffering. But he didn't let his anger drive him to harm the adult's children. So he started by asking why they were bullying his daughter and answered saying they picked on the demon as a game.

The game was that they threw mud and brandished sticks, then Roxy either brushed their attack aside and chased them off, or she played along and pretended to be vanquished.

He told them their daughter was still too young for that game and that it only scared her. He asked them to stop. But the children wouldn't listen to him.

After that, Sylphy's family began to take precautions. Ms.Rose cut her daughter's hair short and made her shorts so make it easy for her to run away. Mr.Laws also asked the children's parents to help them if she was being bullied. Then on Sylphy's fourth birthday, her father brought her a white hoodie jacket from the city of Roa. To hide her hair.

Mr.Laws and Ms.Rose also asked my family if they could keep an eye on Sylphy whenever they were busy. Paul and Zenith happily accepted the offer to help our neighbors.

Also juggling by Zenith and Paul's contemplative looks on their faces they probably realized that if they kindly refused. I would've willingly taken the responsibility to take care of Sylphy whenever her parents weren't around and when she wanted to spend some quality time outside.

So almost every day, Ms.Rose or Mr.Laws would drop off Sylphy at our residence and Paul, Zenith, Lilia, and Roxy were responsible for babysitting, I guess.

But on the seventh day during my day off from training with Paul and Roxy. I would pick up Sylphy from her house in the middle of the morning on the seventh day and punkass children would sometimes show up and attack us. But together me Sylphy and drove them all off. I didn't want them to appear every single day when we walked together so I used electricity magic to look intimidating and scare them off so they'll never bother us again.

Although there is always a possibility that they'll attack Sylphy when I'm not with her. But I'm sure she'll be able to fight against those bullies when she learns silent spell-casting.

Once that was all said and done. I decided it was about time I taught Sylphiette silent spell-casting. At our usual spot under the tree on the hill. "Rudy, I'm ready to learn more about magic," Sylphy said with a gentle smile on her face.

"Okay, today I'm gonna teach you silent spell casting," I replied while carrying the Textbook of Magic.

When I first met Sylphy. She was only able to cast three or four entry-level spells before getting short of breath at the age of three, but the years had gone by, and her mana reserves had grown significantly larger. Now, she could train for half the day without an issue.

"Alright, so you know the feeling you get when you're going through the incantation for a spell? That feeling throughout your body that collects in your fingertips? Try doing that without saying the incantation. Once you feel like you've got the magical energy gathered up, let the spell you want to cast come to your mind and then force it out through your hands. Try to do something like that. Start with something easy like waterball."

Sylphy closed her eyes and raised her hands up. Then she began muttering and murmuring. After seven minutes had passed she managed to cast a waterball without saying the incantation.

Whether it's my past life or reliving this second rebirth. I will always feel genuinely proud of Sylphy for achieving newfound success and strength. Because it just goes to show that I am a good magic teacher and best friend.

"I did it! Rudy, I did it!" Sylph shouted with pure joy and pride after managing to conjure a series of waterballs. I always knew Sylphy would master silent spell-casting by the time she reached four years old. She has an innate talent when it comes to magic, especially healing magic.

"Wow, good job Sylphy!" I replied and softly patted her head, praising her accomplishment. "Now, try casting the spells you've learned so far without chanting the incantations."

"Okay!"

Now that Sylphy can skip the incantation part, it would make it easier for me to teach her for the next couple of years and she'll become much stronger in the distant future too, compared to her previous self. If Sylphy is powerful then she'll be able to defend herself against formidable opponents.

I don't want Sylphy to die an awful death like last time…Never again, so long as I draw breath in this magical world.

I instructed Sylphy to go through all the elementary-level spells using silent spell-casting. So she can become proficient in visualizing the spell's effects for the other elements.

I also explained to Sylphy that the more she used magic now, while she was young, her mana reserve would become larger.

I'm not quite sure how well she understands at her age, but she enjoys practicing magic with me and would always do what I asked. It kinda reminded me about Paul's concerns and why he decided to ship me off to the city of Roa. So I can teach Eris and Ghislaine magic in my last life.

In my last life, me and Sylphy I were becoming too dependent on one another and she started disregarding her parents' plans and duties at home to spend time with me.

This was becoming an everyday occurrence. It's a big issue for Laws and Rose because when they gave their daughter a good telling-off, she would make excuses in reference to me.

My words were everything to her, while her parents' words were of secondary importance. Sylphy's mind was fully focused on me. So full that she forgot what her parents told her. Which is quite troubling, because it was customary for children to start to learn how to help around the house after they turned five.

When Paul listened to Laws's problem with his daughter. He realized Sylphy's entire world was coming to revolve around me, which would be extremely unhealthy for her when we got older.

He knew that if two of us grew up together like this she was going to be permanently dependent on me. And if we ended up together it would be fine in his eyes, but he thought there was another dark possibility, that I would have relationships with other women due to me being a Grayrat and my father's son at that.

He knew if Sylphy wasn't allowed to grow up apart from me and I didn't choose her when we got older. She would never ever recover.

So technically Paul saved Sylphy from becoming a full-fledged Yandere. I guess he was speaking from experience, since he saw plenty of noble girls being betrothed at a young age and eventually ended up heartbroken when their own husband unexpectedly cheated on them, or rejected the marriage proposal.

And I can't exactly warn Sylphy. This is a good learning opportunity so she can become an independent young lady in the future. Besides, deep down, I'm grateful that Paul separated me and Sylphy that fateful day. If he hadn't sent me to the Boreas Family.

Eris probably would've ended up a slave to a fatass perverted noble due to Thomas's kidnapping attempt or possibly would've died due to the teleportation disaster.

Later I decided to teach Sylphy the rest of the intermediate magic spells. Until Roxy suddenly appeared and saw Sylphy using silent spell-casting, she kindly greeted us and asked us some questions.

Roxy POV

After fully gaining the villagers' trust and acceptance, I asked Paul and Zenith if I could have two days off. For the sixth and seventh days. So I can have the free time to assist the villagers with their wheat fields and gardens. They willingly accepted so long as I didn't neglect Rudy's magic lessons.

Currently, I managed to earn some extra pocket money from the townsfolk when they asked me to cast a water magic spell on their field of Vatirus flowers and Batirusu flowers.

Afterwards, I walked back home to the Greyrat family household with a satisfied grin on my face. Until I suddenly saw little Rudy and Sylphy practicing their magic spells on a hill with a big tree on top. Mmm, I might as well say "hi" and see how Sylphy has progressed with her magic spell casting.

"Hey Rudy, isn't that Ms.Roxy over there?"

"Yeah, I think she's coming over to say hi."

I gradually walked up to the top of the hill and approached Rudy and Sylphy. "Hi, Rudy and Sylphy, I saw both of you practicing your magic spell casting up here…Would you mind if I join?"

"Sure Master Roxy, we would love for you to join us, right Sylphy?" Rudy smiled cheerfully and Sylphy nodded. "Yeah, the more the merrier." She replied, with a friendly smile on her face.

Aww🥰, if only there were more sweet children like Rudeus and Sylphy. Who didn't treat demons like me with discrimination?

"Right now I'm currently teaching Sylphy the rest of the intermediate attack magic type spells, when she's using silent-spell casting."

"No way…Are you seriously Rudy!? Sylphy can use silent-spell casting too!" I said with an astonishing look on my face.

"Yup, Rudy taught me how to use silent spell-casting today, see," Sylphy replied, as she raised her right hand and cast a magic spell wind blast without any incantation.

He was telling the truth…Not one but two children living in the sticks of all places…Has miraculously learned silent spell casting as well. Perhaps there is a slight chance I'll be able to use silent spell casting too; someday.

"Ahhh I see, Sylphy can do silent spell casting too. That is incredible; I'll focus my efforts on teaching you as well."

"Really!? Thank you so much, Ms.Roxy." Sylphy said and showed her gratitude by hugging her in a warm embrace.

"It was my pleasure," I replied with a lighthearted smile on my face. As I wrapped my arms around the affectionate green-haired girl. "Alright, let's get back practicing magic shall we," I responded and released my hug with Sylphy. So I can start training both of them.

"Okay!" Rudy and Sylphy said simultaneously. Both of them look quite eager to practice magic alongside me. Heehee😄, probably because of my reputation with the villagers and helpful advice, has caused them to see me as a good role model to be inspired by.

Later, Rudy, Sylphy, and I played together until the sun went down. Then we all returned to our households feeling quite satisfied about spending quality time together.
